I'm more sensitive than some to scratchy fabrics and found that the breathable eyelet panels bothered my skin (though the 100% merino panels did not). This seams to be more a function of the weave than the content of the fabric as you can see the nylon/ elastane 'threads' on the inner side of the eyelet panels, where they sit right against the skin. Returning for this reason. The pros: I love the raglan sleeve and hope in the future there will be 100% merino shirts available in this fit. I'm 5'9", 145lb, longer than average arms and torso and wider than average shoulders. Sized up to the large because I did not want a skin tight fit and the sleeves and body were a great length for me, plus a very flattering look! Can't comment on use because I only tried it at home ... MoreI'm more sensitive than some to scratchy fabrics and found that the breathable eyelet panels bothered my skin (though the 100% merino panels did not). It will be a great shirt for many but was not the right shirt for me.

I bought this shirt about 5 years ago and wouldn't recommend it. The regular Icebreaker fabric on the front is still in great shape (like all my other Icebreaker products), but the thinner, more "breathable" BodyFit Zone fabric is falling apart under one of the armpits and it started happening after a couple years of use. I contacted Icebreaker about this and they said they do not replace wear and tear due to regular use. Unless the BodyFit Zone fabric has been updated and improved since my purchase, I would say this fabric seems to be far less durable than Icebreaker's normal stuff (which is extremely durable in my experience). I think Icebreaker is charging more for these more "technical" tops but actually they are less fabric - half your shirt is made of a thin, ... MoreI bought this shirt about 5 years ago and wouldn't recommend it. I purchased this about 14 months ago, and while I do love the base layer I am quite disappointed at the quality of the fabric. I use this base layer quite often in the winter and noticed after the 1 year purchase that the fabric under one of the arm pits has been tearing out while the other one is still intact. As mentioned by another reviewer, the thinner fabric is really too sensitive. For the regular price, I would not recommend. If you can get a decent sale, I would go for it but realize the durability will be limited to 1-2 years of regular usage.

There is no doubt whatsoever that merino warms and wicks better than any man-made fabric - I love merino and I love icebreaker merino best - so for layering the only question is which make and weight of merino to use.I have tried all weights and have favourite set ups for differing conditions but overall the 260 is my most worn by far.I would argue (from experience) that having mixed weights on one garment does not actually give an advantage; though the theory looks great on paper it is not more effective in practice than having a single weight over the whole garment, in fact less so.I bought two of these to replace my previous (and worn out from LOTS of wear) 260 tops, however I still prefer the previous version because: A -not having the same thickness (aka ... MoreThere is no doubt whatsoever that merino warms and wicks better than any man-made fabric - I love merino and I love icebreaker merino best - so for layering the only question is which make and weight of merino to use.I have tried all weights and have favourite set ups for differing conditions but overall the 260 is my most worn by far.I would argue (from experience) that having mixed weights on one garment does not actually give an advantage; though the theory looks great on paper it is not more effective in practice than having a single weight over the whole garment, in fact less so.I bought two of these to replace my previous (and worn out from LOTS of wear) 260 tops, however I still prefer the previous version because: A -not having the same thickness (aka 'body zone) area all over means there are times when it gets cold, when it shouldn't, whereas it doesn't with the previous version and B - it does not have the desired effect of either causing noticeably less sweat or removing it faster in the created (body zone) areas: you will sweat in those areas anyway if you're exercising and sweat is sweat and makes you wet and cold - and the lack of thickness (in the body zone areas) doesn't provide the same warmth as previous version so you feel it.I have done direct comparisons doing the exact same exercise daily [2 hour fast walk/jog in cold weather] over a month or so and definitely notice that I feel (and dislike!) the colder body zone areas. The thicker merino may hold more sweat but that is irrelevant because being thicker it also keeps you warmer in the sweaty areas - it evaporates just as fast but keeps you warmer at the same time: the thinner/aereated areas of the body zone are not noticeably better at causing less sweat to any degree you notice nor is it better at evaporating, it's just colder in those areas, unlike in the previous version that had the same weight all over without any of the new body zone areas.I 'get' the idea of the body zone areas, but in practice it has no advantages and the added disadvantage that you now get cold areas.I hope they go back to the same body shape and two tone colour and an even thickness all over Next year- I won't buy this version(or any body zone version) again.
This is my favorite winter shirt. The fit is great, not least the long sleeves which cover my wrists. This is my favorite part, because I have long arms most shirts stop above my wrist bone. Covering the wrist makes it much warmer and more comfortable. The seams are in the right places, super comfy and practical. Great weight, I literally wear every day. I now have 3. I love the dark blue color. I'm 5'6" 120 lbs slender build, M fits perfectly.
All the products that I purchased I'm very satisfied it keeps me warm and the most important of all is very comfortable. Besides the comfort that I experienced my friends and strangers made comments about my top outfit. Sometimes ladies will stop me and asked what brand and how much? I suggested if you're cold like me during winter time it's a good idea to invest on quality product like Icebreaker's products. My favorite product is the insulated hoodies, I wish you guys make additional colors for ladies that like dark Pink. Pink is my favorite colors and lots of my ladies friends loves pink. Keep up the good work. Regards Vi
Years ago I stumbled upon icebreakers accidentally on a discount site. This was long before they were a household name for those who were inclined towards the outdoors and long before I knew how amazing they were in comparison to anything else on the market. Since then, in utter desperation to not spend over $100 on any under garment, no matter how insulting it is, I have tried to find an equivalent product.I never have. This year I finally caved and bought an icebreaker under layer.....and it's been worth every penny.I do feel a bit foolish, but at least now I'm warm and foolish.
Love Icebreaker stuff. Nice and soft and not bulky. This 1/2 zip is tight fitting base layer, but I don't really like things too tight, and want to be able to wear something light under it. This is perfect for not too cold days when I need something a bit warmer that a t-shirt but not a toasty warm thick hoodie. I ordered a size larger, and it is perfect for me. Surprisingly warm for being quite thin. Love it and want more like it in other colours.
I'm not one to waste my time reviewing items online but I hope this may be helpful for others. I've always been skeptic on purchasing items so expensive, but I got this with a great sale on Black Friday on top of a birthday coupon. This item is definetely one of the most expensive in my wardrobe and I love every fiber of it. I've been using it for my daily hiking at temperatures around zero degrees. If I hike fast enough I'll sweat but this top makes me warm despite the cold temperature and I can see my body breathe better. I was even more skeptic when I saw the back has a very thin layer but boy, it is so helpful for regulating body temperature when exercising in the cold weather. I would recommend this if you plan on sweating at cold temperatures, such as -5 to ... MoreI'm not one to waste my time reviewing items online but I hope this may be helpful for others. I was even more skeptic when I saw the back has a very thin layer but boy, it is so helpful for regulating body temperature when exercising in the cold weather. I would recommend this if you plan on sweating at cold temperatures, such as -5 to about 5C. It is actually super warm so for temperatures above 5C, you may want to use a thinner piece of clothing. Haven't tried at below -5C yet, but I suspect it would be great with an extra layer on top. It does get wet though, so for longer day hikes I do switch into another dry thermal layer to keep warm on the way down. Lastly, I'm always a medium, but bought a large because I don't like the hugging feeling of tight clothing and it fits perfectly.
Alright here's the deal. I feel like everyone has their go to performance outfit. This is the foundation of mine. It's also yours- you just don't know it yet.The weight of this fabric alone makes it feel luxurious even though it's not too thick. The technical attention to ventilation, cut, and shape were all taken into consideration when this baby was created. The raglan sleeves and glorious thumbholes and the LENGTH. My god can we talk about the length and the silhouette of the bottom hemline? It's just enough to cover the mid line of the booty so you can layer it over leggings but tuck it under weatherproofing layers. It's also opaque (in regards to sportsbra transparency) so there are no worries about immodesty either. The only thing keeping me from replacing ... MoreAlright here's the deal.
