Icebreaker 260 Zone LS Half Zip (Men's) Jet Heather/Black / M

I prefer to wear this as a shirt rather than a base layer and therefore got a 2XL rather than my normal XL size, so that it isn’t skin tight. Works extremely well with a Patagonia goose down puffer vest when the wind has a real snowy winter bite with it, like right now in southern Tasmania where we are experiencing a cold Antarctic blast in June. Really like the two tone geometric colour rather than the single colour options. Makes it look a ‘classy’ garment. Would like to see a black/red being offered in this style. Would be a top seller!

Base layer long sleeve top

I own many large 1/4 zip long sleeve merino tops which I wear all the time. My wife recommended this bodyfitzone long sleeve crew as a new base layer. I used Icebreaker's online fit guide and ordered a size large. I love the material and quality but I think a medium size would make a better base layer fit for me. I'm a 6'1" 173 lb 70 yr old. I've worn this new top once, washed it, and it still is a bit too large and baggy for a base layer. Otherwise I would have given this top a 10/10 rating.

Best base layer for high output

Primary use is high-output downhill skiing and hiking/snowshoeing. Wicks super well, better than my synthetic base layers...I really notice the lack of sweat against my skin. The lighter "breathing panels" are great, especially on the back that otherwise gets sweaty under a pack. It seems plenty warm even with the breathing panels. Only minor drawback is it doesn't have that super smooth slinky feeling against the skin that some synthetic layers have, but that's not enough to knock it down a star. Fit in body is barely on the snug side, which I prefer for better wicking. Sleeves and body plenty long.Great product from a company that does sustainability right.

Great Layering

The 1/2 zip is perfect for me as a second layer. The first layer is either a light weight short sleeve shirt or long sleeve. The ice breaker is the second. Love how it zips all the way up the neck and makes the windy days less windy. The next layer is a vest and the last is the outer layer. The best, this combination is warm and not bunchy..Bottom line, it looks good, feels good and not binding. I'm 6'4" tall about 215 lbs and the large works well.

Great but not better than previous version

There is no doubt whatsoever that merino warms and wicks better than any man-made fabric - I love merino and I love icebreaker merino best - so for layering the only question is which make and weight of merino to use.I have tried all weights and have favourite set ups for differing conditions but overall the 260 is my most worn by far.I would argue (from experience) that having mixed weights on one garment does not actually give an advantage; though the theory looks great on paper it is not more effective in practice than having a single weight over the whole garment, in fact less so.I bought two of these to replace my previous (and worn out from LOTS of wear) 260 tops, however I still prefer the previous version because: A -not having the same thickness (aka ... MoreThere is no doubt whatsoever that merino warms and wicks better than any man-made fabric - I love merino and I love icebreaker merino best - so for layering the only question is which make and weight of merino to use.I have tried all weights and have favourite set ups for differing conditions but overall the 260 is my most worn by far.I would argue (from experience) that having mixed weights on one garment does not actually give an advantage; though the theory looks great on paper it is not more effective in practice than having a single weight over the whole garment, in fact less so.I bought two of these to replace my previous (and worn out from LOTS of wear) 260 tops, however I still prefer the previous version because: A -not having the same thickness (aka 'body zone) area all over means there are times when it gets cold, when it shouldn't, whereas it doesn't with the previous version and B - it does not have the desired effect of either causing noticeably less sweat or removing it faster in the created (body zone) areas: you will sweat in those areas anyway if you're exercising and sweat is sweat and makes you wet and cold - and the lack of thickness (in the body zone areas) doesn't provide the same warmth as previous version so you feel it.I have done direct comparisons doing the exact same exercise daily [2 hour fast walk/jog in cold weather] over a month or so and definitely notice that I feel (and dislike!) the colder body zone areas.The thicker merino may hold more sweat but that is irrelevant because being thicker it also keeps you warmer in the sweaty areas - it evaporates just as fast but keeps you warmer at the same time: the thinner/aereated areas of the body zone are not noticeably better at causing less sweat to any degree you notice nor is it better at evaporating, it's just colder in those areas, unlike in the previous version that had the same weight all over without any of the new body zone areas.I 'get' the idea of the body zone areas, but in practice it has no advantages and the added disadvantage that you now get cold areas.I hope they go back to the same body shape and two tone colour and an even thickness all over Next year- I won't buy this version(or any body zone version) again.

Great fit

I've had 2 sets of Merino 260 base layers over the years. Wanted to try the body fit zone. I haven't tested it sking yet (only on hikes thus far), but I can say I was happy that the size was the same as previous years and other models. Some companies don't have that consistency. The material is comfortable. This is exactly what I am looking for to use x-country sking and downhill sking during the spring, as well as fall hiking.

He loves it

Gift for a man who is 5'9" and a lean, fit trail runner. When you're his size, most US tops aren't form fitting enough. He runs year-round, in the Colorado mountains, where the temps quickly fluctuate and an efficient, moisture-wicking top is mandatory. This top looks excellent on him--very flattering. He's worn it on several runs and hasn't washed it yet (that's another story for another time). Wool's properties are such that the top doesn't reek, unlike his Patagonia running tops. Huge fan.

My first base layer ever!

The weather in Canada 🇨🇦 is unpredictable this year.. couple weeks down to -30 ... I decided to do some research and invest some base layering as I walk to work n don't want to wear bulky layering. I found ice breaker on line and after reading some reviews I decided to give this a try n Gosh ! This base layering is so worth the hype . Light weight .. keep me warm while is cold and cool down while in an indoor. The thumb loops definitely are a sweet details to have ! I am obsessed! 👏

New FAVORITE base layer!

Fantastic base for keeping moisture away from the body during intense winter activity like snowshoeing. Fabric feels amazingly comfortable. Temperature regulation is managed efficiently with the half-zip. Paired with a mid-weight layer and a breathable shell, this product allows you to enjoy every adventure.

winter's best friend

I wear this for running and walking outside. It keeps me toasty but also light and mobile. Very comfortable, and I like the thumb holes. No more issues with sleeves bunching up. I used to be a boring sweater guy, but this looks pretty sexy and seems like a significant upgrade for me. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I'm a smaller guy and there's no XS available which would have been a more ideal size for me.
