Let me start off by saying I love Icebreaker. I have a lot of their clothing and for the most part love what they offer. But not so much with this underwear. I did like how light it was and the fact that after hand washing and wringing it out, it dries very quickly. So it should be good for travel, which is what I was hoping for. But I just didn't find wearing them comfortable. They kept "riding up" on me. And if they aren't comfortable, there is just not much sense in wearing them. So I'm afraid I just can't recommend the mens briefs.

There's no clothing brand that I'm more invested in that Icebreaker. I probably have 20 pairs of briefs alone. Add up all those dollars. Why? Because they work. Or at least they used to. A few years ago Icebreaker cut costs by getting rid of the pouch that men depended on to carry their goods. That pouch made icebreakers amazingly comfortable. But hey we had to change with the times and they got rid of the pouch, creating a bit of compression. Now, they have changed their sizing. I've been a size M forever. Now size M is too small, and size L is just a bit too large. Why mess with perfection? Don't ask me. I did a test where I washed and dried a size L in the drier (not recommended fabric care) and it did shrink enough to feel like a size M should feel like. It's a very sad thing- I really want icebreaker to succeed but these design tweaks for no reason create a lot of hassle. You can see similar messages about the men's brief being changed everywhere.

I never worry about what to give my fussy son-in-law. Whether it's Christmas or birthday, I know what will always be welcome. The fun part for me is occasionally choosing a color that my conservative son-in-law wouldn't choose but will definitely wear because he ONLY wears icebreaker briefs. . I have considered doing a little embroidered embellishment, but haven't done so-yet.

These underwear fit very well and the fabric is nice and soft. I much prefer merino blend underwear to cotton for comfort and breathability and Icebreaker’s Anatomica range is probably my favourite. I own the equivalent Smartwool briefs as well and though I like both pairs, the fabric of Icebreaker pair is the nicer of the two. Order a size up if you would like a slightly looser fit (they are form fitting).
Not sure who designed these but pretty sure it wasn't male. The width of the crotch area is far too narrow. This causes the male parts of my body to slip out, usually on one side or the other. Very uncomfortable. When I measured the width, it was about 2 inches. When I measure the crotch width of other brands of briefs I own, it's 4 inches. I noticed at least one other one star review where the person had the same issue I do. I certainly can't recommend this product, although I own and like a lot of other icebreaker clothing.
Regular cotton underwear my whole life until my first pair of Icebreaker briefs and I will never wear anything else. They work year round perfectly. I went a size up to allow for just a little more comfort allowing for some fabric shrinkage and that keeps them having the room if you are a decent size down there, that keeps everything in place without being overly tight.I wash and dry them just like every other piece clothes I have. I don't have time for extra underwear care and going up a size will help them as over about a year they do shrink but it's very little. I'm a 34ish waist 6'1.Try to catch them on sale. On a 1-10, 10 being the best I give them a 9 1/2. I own about 20 pair so I don't wash them to death.
Bought the briefs and love them. The fit is awesome and pocket holds well. I'm 5'10" - 158# and the briefs are form fitting and comfortable. Now don't go getting squeamish, but I have through hiked several times. I only change my daytime clothes weekly. Undies included. If you give all of your clothes rest time nightly and haven't soiled them, they won't smell. Anything merino wool ie; shirts, socks, pants, all layers and head wear. It is awesome! BTW wife loves merino wool too.Take it to heart,CootieJ
I've been wearing various brands of cotton briefs my whole life. Was excited to upgrade my life to merino so went all in and bought 6 pairs. BUMMER! spent over $200 on them and now have decided i cant bare them any longer. I've spent a couple weeks in them now and have been frustrated with the lack of elastic around the butt on them. The result is constantly having to fish them out of my crack as they do not hold around the butt cheeks. The fabric is very nice but i've found myself back wearing my cheap cotton ones. I find it distracting and annoying throughout the day having to pull out the wedgie all the time. comparing my cheap cotton ones to the elasticity on them does not compare. Please consider adding more (or better) elastic stuff around the edges. The ... MoreI've been wearing various brands of cotton briefs my whole life. Please consider adding more (or better) elastic stuff around the edges. The elastic around the waist is tight. I would also suggest adding a bit more room to the front. they dont have much room in there for anything but this is not the point of my review. the real reason they are unwearable for me and i think others is the lack of butt edge elasticity
I've been a boxer brief guy for years and totally forgot what it was like to wear briefs. I got these on a lark and just to try them out to see if they were good or not. I've used them for a hot yoga class a few times and used them for a few tennis matches and while they initially felt a little odd, they were great during activity and I would invest in more for sure. There are times where the boxer part of the boxer brief is just too much fabric and that is where these guys shine.
These are very smart little undies.Sharp cut, nice material.I have a 28-30 waist, with soccer bum and thighs, so got the medium. Compared to the 175 merino boxers in the same size, these briefs run a bit snug below the waistband-might be the material which has more stretch in it, or maybe the cut. Overall they're great-but especially when you want to hold everything in nice and close!
