I love the color, the fit and the weight of the fabric. However, I find that it STINKS after just one day of moderately active work. I'm a physical therapist and I have to be close to my patients, so it's a dealbreaker for me unfortunately. If odor control is important to you, I recommend finding a product that doesn't have the synthetic blends, as you will may stink it up.

Purchased again, since I had the same item (or so I thought). Construction totally different; no flat seam construction, cut like a cheap gap t-shirt. At these prices, construction/quality/fit should be consistent. Maybe this is due to a supply chain issue...but new factory integration should be seamless to the consumer. Which is to say...why assign a carryover style number to a totally different construction? Is anyone at Icebreaker aware of what that does to a consumer's impression of quality control? The base layer retail space is getting more competitive; I will stick with brands that understand this.

The merino is super soft and comfortable and did an excellent job of regulating my body heat during a day hike. The temperature was about 16C (60F) with a cool breeze. Using the merino and my wind-shirt was a perfect combination. I usually buy size L but followed the sizing advice of Icebreaker and got a medium and it fits perfectly.

I am a huge Icebreaker fan and own many different styles in multi levels of thickness. As the description would indicate, this is a very thinly made T-shirt which is what I was expecting. The quality, as usual is typical of Icebreaker and their many different styles, but where it falls a bit short is the finish on the back of the neck. The neckline is stitched all the way around for a neat fit and finish until the back of the neck, where it is just loosely folded. This makes the shirt a bit sloppy looking as the fold does not stay folded under the shirt leaving you to always having to tuck it in. Otherwise, fits perfectly and the color is very bright and striking.
I own a 225 weight in Small and this 175 in Medium. I'm 183 and 72kgs.The small hugs my body, whereas this one is a bit more loose. The 225 is for winter days when I'm outside and it is 0 degrees. It is solid and not see through. The 175 is thinner - it let's light through if you hold it up - but still warm. So if I am going to be in and out of trains in winter, waiting at a station for 30 mins, etc, but will still be inside a lot, then then is perfect and the 225 would be too hot.
This is a lengthy review. I am sharing it because I did not find similar and relevant comments online and I guess many have a similar question. When I discovered merino wool, and the icebreaker as one of the pioneers of merino wool products, I went all in and bought many cool-lite items because I generally run hot and also because I was advised odour-resisting properties of merino is present in cool-lite products even though they only have about 50% merino. This turned out not to be the case. Although cool-lite products are more odour resistant than say cotton or Lyocell, they are nowhere near 100% merino wool products. This is why I decided to test the waters and purchased one 175 everyday in a medium. Suffice it to say I ordered three more (one in medium to use as ... MoreThis is a lengthy review. This is why I decided to test the waters and purchased one 175 everyday in a medium. Suffice it to say I ordered three more (one in medium to use as a base-layer and two in large to use for everyday) and I cannot be happier with my decision. Although they are a tad warm for exceptionally hot summer days, they regulate my temperature really well and truly resist odour. Personally I wore them on three consecutive active days in very hot and humid days of Toronto and the t-shirts were still odour free. It did not feel overly hot either. Highly recommend this.
I have bought 2 of these shirts (175 base layer). I love the fitting, how it feels and the design. However, a big downside is the build quality.. after 1 year the wool started to wear down, and less than 2 years after wearing its not possible to wear it anymore because of the wear down / holes at some places. This is in my opinion not acceptable if you pay a premium price. My other shirt (200 base layer) is also wearing down fast, so it's not only this reference. Icebreaker team, please do something about the build quality. I am a long time fan of this brand, but have the feeling that quality is going backwards. Hope to see this changed.
TBH, I prefer my heavier Icebreaker base layer - 200 - over this one, 175. And as a matter of personal style, I prefer a true crew neck. This top is slightly scooped. That being said, the lighter weight will be useful. The color is great. Icebreaker's quality is consistent.
I own 13 different Icebreaker items from 260 weight down to the 150 weight. The 175 everyday crewe is my most recent purchase and the only 175 weight I own. The shirt has been gently worn and is only used as an undershirt for everyday use. In my 2nd winter season, the shirt has developed holes - very disappointing. I do not recommended the 175 weight crewe. It does not hold up well. Even the thinner 150 weight shirts which are much older are holding up just fine. This item is too expense for Icebreaker to continue to sell an item of such poor quality. Called customer service. No help.
This sweater is just what I was looking for. One big downside with many IB products: The stamped-on label dissolves after about four washings, and in two years when I'm thinking about another IB product, or the same one, I often wander what size it is. (I'm between a M and L and it can vary with the product.)This is a cost cutting practice that needs to be stopped. Labels do serve a useful purpose.
