I bought this shirt because I actually found one hiking on the trail. Yea, I'm that guy. It was filthy but I knew the brand and took it home and washed it. I wore it all the time and loved it so much I wanted some more. It's a great shirt for everyday use in the colder temps and can be layered very easily. I use this for traveling and it seems to never get stinky. I can wash it in the sink with Woolite and hang to dry and it's ready to go for another 4 days! I have other brands of Merino Wool shirts but so far Icebreaker is the softest next to my skin and doesn't feel scratchy at all.

While I own a couple of Icebreaker boxers, this is my first base layer top. Absolutely brilliant. Yes, merino is merino, but icebreaker's quality is immaculate. I've been using it as a base layer for shoulder season/winter cycling with only a vest on top, and it's been fantastic. The knit work is great, it's handling the workout with dignity, and the insulation and breathability is stunning. Granted, I'll need a long sleeve mid layer for the winter, but it'll still be miles away from the other options. Having said that, I wish the brand partnered with graphic designers, because in my opinion, their graphic design offering is pretty basic; if they mixed their quality products with top notch graphic design, they could be the Rapha of merino.

I have the maroon version of this 250 merino wool shirt. It's just a little roomy up top and more form fitting along the sides. If you're in good shape, this shirt will make you look super buff. Standard Icebreaker quality, which is to say awesome. Comfort level? Wow. If I could afford a wardrobe full of Icebreaker, I would have one. Way more comfortable than the 250 shirt of top competitor.I got a size larger than necessary since I warm wash and medium dry with the rest of my clothes, so there's just a touch of shrinkage, but probably about the same as cotton. Don't forget to avoid fabric softener.

Wish they were the same fit and quality as 10 years ago. I still have a green oasis 200 from back when the logo was on the breast and there were no plastic tags sewn into the side seam. The newer ones are still best I can find but nowhere near as well made as they were. This one got tiny holes after 1 wash. Still comfortable and breathable

Could be chilly cold, but inside the core, it is 25-29C, regulated- something that artificial textiles from well known competitors cannot achieve. It manages moisture, heat (infrared) and does so brilliantly. whether wet or dry during the ride, body temp is THE SAME. remove the jacket at the end, walk a bit and they dry superfast. I cannot compliment these enough. yes, perfect for cold weather walking outside or watching kids play at the park...No skin issues, no itching. Now, warning. This is a fitted top, but not too tight or restrictive. I bought a couple for my father when he was ill and cold all the time. He wore them night and day and they helped regulate his body temperature and keep him as comfortable as possible. They wash well (hang dry) and remain soft. I have since recommended them for other elderly people that appreciate the help with keeping warm. They last for years!
To me, this is the best Icebreaker product. I use it for hikes, work, and when I am out. It is a versatile product with an incredible quality. Not too heavy, not too light. Perfect for all seasons. The reason I bought this is because I bought one 3 years ago and it is still in perfect condition while heavily used.

200 is the perfect base layer for indoors and layered outdoors. Waiting for sale on different colors (have 2 so far) and perhaps a 260 for next winter. Also own zip-up hoodie, great for the next layer. Fit, feel, quality, looks, lack of smell-- the peace of mind that comes with wearing a natural product. Well worth the extra cost and minor hassle of air drying compare with wearing plastic.
This is my second shirt of the exact same model in as many years. I like it so much I wanted to be sure I had another for when the first wears out. So far there has been minimal wear from multiple days hunting and backpacking in SE AK. Icebreaker really nailed the fit, durability, and textile performance with this one. I refuse to be without it! I'm 5'9" 165lbs with an athletic build and the medium fits me perfectly.
