This shirt works excellent as a base layer. The 200 weight is more practical for most of the year. I carry the 260 weight in my kit as my backup/emergency clothes for when it's colder out, but most of the time I just use the 200 weight.Wool is absolute gold for life outdoors. Keeps you warm when wet, and I sweat a lot so this is really important. Icebreaker makes a good wool blend and I've used icebreaker stuff for over a decade now. I work outside and this is my go to base layer shirt for all things work and adventure. Even in the summer I will have this shirt in my kit. Must buy item!

I think I have 5 of these that I've bought over the years in solids and stripes. They're thick enough to not be see-through like many of the thinner Icebreaker shirts in light colors. They are also comfortable, fitted, but not too tight. I'm a curvy C-cup, and they're very flattering. I also really like that the collars are high. The all-wool makes them not retain stink after washing like many of the mixed fabrics do. I easily can wear 1 shirt for a week without washing, assuming I don't get it dirty from mud or food and need to wash because of that.I wish these were available in short sleeve at this weight. I'd get a larger size to have slight looser t-shirt fit if those were available.

These 200 Oasis long sleeve tops are just amazing. I would wear one all the time if I could. I've had no trouble with laundering them either, and the top gets softer with each wash. (I do not put them in the dryer, but they dry really fast when hung up.) I have black, and right now I'm sleeping in it for cold weather. But the weave is so nice and fine that it (or the short sleeved one which I also have) could be worn under a blazer or as a regular top regardless of being active wear. I expect these tops to last for many years. BTW - I am a 6' tall, middle-aged amazon female, and the XXXL fits all my curves just right. (To be fair, I can also wear the XXL a little more tight - I'm kind of right between those two sizes in the men's.) I'm no go on their women's sizes. ... The Men's Oasis 200 shoulders and chest fit me perfectly, but the arms are too long which is not a problem for me. My husband who is also very tall can also fit the Oasis 200 just fine. I'm not sharing - I bought him his own.

This is such a lovely base layer top. It looks great, with nice attention to detail, and the design on the front looks great.Very soft to the touch / next to the skin. Warm, but not overly so at all.The fit is slightly more lose than some other Icebreaker base layer tips I have. It's still on the close fitting side, but it's more like a close fitting long sleeve t-shirt - which is great, as that's exactly how I wear i, ie as a slightly close fitting long-sleeve t-shirt, and it fits that role perfectly.Really, really like it.
Found this on sale and ordered my regular size and it fits like a body forming layer. I ordered a size up and it seemed a better fit for my needs. Quality fabric but the collar feels stretchy some what. The length of the shirt is longer than some if that's what you like, but I'm not trying to warm my butt. Some people may have a longer trunk type body or tuck their shirt. Sleeves plenty long. Its lightweight. I'm keeping the 200 top and will see its long term use but the 260 weight I sent back because I felt the lighter base layer worked for me as I could layer to get better results with more versatility for my climate. The fabric is plush and you may wear this as a everyday top used as casual wear on cold days. The fabric is that nice.
If you want to buy it because you have an old Oasis 200 Scoop Neck that you have been using underneath everything - do not make the mistake of buying this! I'm almost thinking of sending mine back ... this is basically a wider crew neck - NOT the wide open scoop neck the old version had! It's sticking out under every other shirt and dress making it basically useless for the purpose of wearing under everyday clothing!! I'm VERY VERY disappointed!! (purchased in June 2024)
I used to love Icebreaker products, but after having one label of a top become sticky and actually smear onto my skin, I stopped buying them. This morning, another, newer top was sticking onto itself. I called and was told to use alcohol or GooGone to "remove the stickiness", which basically means, to remove the tag, and the wash it.There is no question about Icebreaker quality, but this issue, which is obviously an ongoing quality issue, will continue until the tag material is changed to a cloth one. I was told there was no plan to change this, but that my feedback would go to the "powers that be". These tages negate any high quality that Icebreaker products have, unfortunately.
This is the third one of these I have owned. I wear them so much throughout the year, I’ve worn the first two through. I wish the shirts had the same lifetime warranty as the socks!I wear this shirt in the winter and summer. I wear them running, hiking, paddling, skiing, camping, around the house, sleeping… pretty much everywhere. The shirt is perfect as a backpacking or travelling layer as after a week of constant wear, it still doesn’t smell.I typically wear this as a base layer as it is tight and leaves little to the imagination. But that’s the point. The natural colour is fairly see-through as well. Especially if you are a hairy man. But looks great as a long-sleeve under a t-shirt and not a big deal as is meant to be a base layer. All in all very pleased once ... MoreThis is the third one of these I have owned. I bought my first Icebreaker Merino 200 Oasis Long Sleeve Crewe thermal top at a hotel gift shop in New Zealand last February when I knew I needed another layer to feel warm in the chillier-than expected weather there. I wore that top every day for the 11 days of the trip. It was on me for hikes and boat rides and walks through town. Since then, I have purchased three more. I wear them for hiking, with pants and skirts for work, or for a night on the town. I almost never have to wash them unless I spill something on them, because they never develop an odor. Having always been sensitive to wool, I was worried they would itch, no matter how subtle, but that has not been the case. They are soft and comfortable. I mostly use this for properly cold weather. When it's merely cool, I usually wear a merino t-shirt or the lighter 150 Anatomica long sleeve as base layer.I use it for almost anything during winter, from low to high output activities. Although nowadays for highest output stuff I might choose a synthetic base layer that wicks moisture more efficiently. Some examples from a holiday in Kuusamo, northern Finland with temperatures varying between -10° and -20° C in January. I wore this shirt nearly all the time for five days: for hiking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, playing in the snow with kids, and lounging in the cabin in the evenings. In fact, I recently washed it the very first time, after a bit more than 2 years of ownership (!), and even now the shirt wasn't particularly in need of washing. This seems durable too, unlike some other 100% merino products I have; it's still pretty much like new.I'm 175 cm / 72 kg and size S fits me perfectly. Long enough sleeves and hem. The "Mink" colour is nice.
