I have been wearing IB for 10 years & I own many pieces from undergarments & base layers to shorts & dresses. I have loved IB & they have been my go-to brand, but I have not been loving IB the past 3 years. I DO NOT like the new styles & cuts. They are boxy, too long, the colours are either too plain or outrageously loud, & the artwork is terrible (ski artwork on a short sleeve t-shirt & a t-shirt reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock "The Birds"). What happened to elegant, stylish & pretty? What happened to timeless style? IB had a wonderful design team; what happened? Ultimately, out of desperation I ordered 2 new t-shirts, because mine were no longer mendable. I was disappointed; the new design of the Tech Lite is terrible. It is no longer a crew neck, but a low crew, which makes it less suitable as a go-to athletic piece that can be worn for outdoor adventures & for casual wear. IB, bring back the original Tech Lite & while you're at it, bring back the 100% merino scoop neck, short sleeve t-shirt.

I bought one in medium about a month ago and fell in love with the material. First merino wool product and I loved the odor rersistant properties and versatility in the summer months. I wanted to purchase a couple more in different colours, a few weeks later, ordering in the same size (M) as the previous one and was extremely disappointed in the size difference. The first M shirt was perfect, not too loose and not too tight, and I ordered the next two expecting the same. Unfortunately both of the next two in different colours were considerably smaller, almost skin tight. This is extremely disappointing considering I was starting to plan for reorganizing my wardrobe around several of these t-shirts and eliminating most of my current cotton t-shirts. This is my third Icebreaker Tech Lite t-shirt I've purchased. I wear them for everything - hiking, biking, climbing, travelling, coffee dates, grocery shopping, couch lounging - you name it, I'm probably in this shirt. It's super versatile, durable (for merino of course), and comfortable. Probably gross to mention, but I've worn this shirt without having the ability to wash it for multiple weeks straight without it ever smelling (long distance hiking trips and travelling). I'd recommend this product to anyone considering it.I'm 5'3, 120 lbs (size 26 jeans), and wear a size small. It fits relatively loose.

I recently purchased this t-shirt together with other merino items from Icebreaker, hoping it would be apt in the hot and humid summer in Vietnam.I have worn it for only a few occasions; now after 2 washes (on gentle cycle, with wool friendly detergent, then lining dry in shade) the t-shirt develops multiple holes across the hem and body. I was aware of this problem with merino products (I used to own merino items from Uniqlo, and after a season or two they would start to have holes), but I had hoped that Icebreaker items would be far more resilient and durable (i.e. lasting years rather than a few wears). Now I have learnt not to get my hopes up.
This is a great shirt. I know I'm only giving it three stars. Maybe that's not fair, but it's because I sent it back. I'm sure it's a 5 star shirt for someone else. It just was shapeless in a way that I found unflattering on my body. The material was great. It was light and seemed like it would have been good for the heat. I love light 100% Merino shirts for outdoor exercise and for hot days when I'll be sweating a lot. But, it just wasn't shapely. I have some V-Neck shirts from Woolly Clothing Co that are more flattering for my body. I imagine that this shirt would be fine for someone with a suitable body type. I'm sorry I can't give more detail about what that body type would be. I wish that icebreaker made a 100% wool ultralight T-shirt with a scoop neck or a ... MoreThis is a great shirt. I sized up 1 size as I find Merino shrinks regardless of what the company says. It also fuzzes up easily after 1 wash (hang dry), although it looks worse from the wearers perspective than from someone looking at you. It did develop 3 tiny holes after 1 wash and I found the neck stretched just from hanging while wet. Having said all that, it breathes very well, drys quickly and retains way less odour than cotton or poly. For a person who perspires a lot, this is enough to justify the purchase. I just wouldn’t mistake the price as it being a similar T from a company like Arc where you can wear it in a variety of settings and look good. This is really a sport, hiking, lounging T.
I like Merino wool shirts and have several. This is my second Icebreaker t-shirt. I like the fabric but the sizing runs large. I ordered a Medium because the size chart says that is the size for a chest measurement of 36-39 inches. My chest is 40 inches, and the shirt has a very "relaxed" fit. I'm going to try a small and exchange for it if it fits better. If they are going to make their shirts on the "fits large" side, they should adjust the size recommendation chart to reflect the reality of the sizing. Very frustrating!
Until now I have been very impressed with all icebreaker products. This was until i bought 2 ice breaker tshirts around 8 months ago, which both have multiple holes under the arms already with very light use. I was very confused with this as I have other ice breaker tshirts that have lasted 3+ years and are still in perfect condition. I did put this issue forward to the customer service as I believed it to be some sort of manufacturing error and just a rare occurance, however apparently it is only wear and tear and nothing could be done about it. Unfortunately this appears to me that the quality has recently declined on these products and I have lost confidence in ice breaker as a brand.Would not recommend from not on
I love Icebreaker and use my merino wool clothing for rigorous outdoor use. I have many products and take care of them properly. The Tech Lite II is still a good shirt but it really doesn't compare well to the previous Tech Lite model. The fit is much more loose fitting, which for technical outdoor use I think is a negative. The quality also seems a bit worse, as I've been running the older Tech Lite tees for years (3-4+) and the Tech Lite II doesn't seem to last a season without micro holes or full rips. Again, I take good care of my equipment and take the exact same care of both types. One is holding up great, the other not so much.I will always be a customer but I would really appreciate going back to the old style. I will buy many if so...
I bought one Icebreaker's merino t-shirts about 1,5 years ago. I loved that t-shirt and when it got couple of holes after 1 year I was pretty sad. I thought it was my fault for putting it in the washmashine (even though I didn't use softener and I used cold water, as they recommend). So I decided to buy again some T-shirts from Icebreaker. Now after about 4 uses, my new merino T-shirt (Men's Merino Tech Lite II Short Sleeve T-Shirt) got a hole . I hadn't washed it yet and I did no other use than carrying a backpack! I have to say I feel quite disappointed with this and wrote to the service center asking for advice how to fix it myself and eventually replacement. The service center just said it's "misuse", which is quite annoying. They also ignored my question ... MoreI bought one Icebreaker's merino t-shirts about 1,5 years ago.
