The 250 mm Aalto vase by Iittala is based on Alvar Aalto’s original sketches from the 1930s. Although the beautifully asymmetrical vase looks somewhat different from the classic Aalto vase, it belongs to the same glassware collection Alvar Aalto created for the World Fair in Paris in 1937. Today, the Aalto vases are manufactured in a range of colours and designs. Like all Aalto vases, this higher and narrower vase is mouth-blown at the Iittala glassworks in Finland by the company's master glassblowers. After the blowing process, the vase is hand-cut and finished to its final form through several stages of polishing. Due to the material and the traditional manufacturing method, each individual vase has its own characteristics that make it uniquely captivating and truly one of a kind. Rereleased in 2023, the 250 mm high vase is produced only in a limited, numbered edition of 2023 pieces.
