There was a point where I needed the pieces to budge another 1/2 inch to catch something and nothing worked to budge them. Well, eventually they did , but, again, what I did IS NOT advised. I do believe it was more a miracle from above than what I did anyway. This bed SHOULD be simple as pie, but mine wasn’t. Wood expands and contracts so it could not be IKEAs fault, who knows? In any case, the value for the money is FABULOUS…assuming you can build yours to completion of course. It’s solid wood and this did surprise me. It’s nice. The grey is beautiful and matte, no gloss. The storage drawers under are loose, like….they do not connect to anything like brimnes drawers do. In some ways it’s annoying but, in my case, my room only fit the 2 drawer style bed bc mine is up against a wall, so it’s all I could do…this means, yes, there is a HUGE amount of wasted space on one side under my mattress. So, then the drawers being loose is great….I got mobile storage units to fill in those gaps and I am able to roll out the malm drawers to get to them. It’s not ideal, but I don’t waste space …so I put items for long term storage that I rarely access in them …behind my malms. My malms have my clothes ;). The value for the price is SUPERB. I installed alone, you can too. DO follow the directions super super close and do some YouTube or internet research first for a few tips and tricks. HAVE THE BED EXACTLY WHERE you want it as you build it if you can.IKEA : don’t make people buy the LUROY slats vs. the upgraded slats JUST BECAUSE THEY REQUIRE DELIVERY. It’s nuts. I had to buy the LUROY bc you wouldn’t offer this bed to be delivered without those and only those. I’ve had the LUROYs before and tbh, I hate them. My bed will be fine with these for awhile. But I know the others are ideal for long term.Oh and …for those who wonder : you can’t tell from looking at the bed that the storage drawers are loose, it appears that they are built in …the finished look of this combo is great.

Great Value and easy to move packages
1 March 2023

Since I drive a hatchback my biggest concern when purchasing a frame was transportation to my home. The bed is split it 2 boxes and two small groups of metal. It was extremely easy to fit it into my car and get it home. The quality is great! Very sturdy and firm. The wood doesn't have the hollow feel and sound like Mainstays pressed boards do. Installation was simple but time consuming. I assembled it myself and it took approx. 2-3 hours! I would absolutely recommend this frame to anyone looking for a modern and cheap bedframe.

I Hate This Bed and Wish We Could Return It
24 April 2023

I bought this bed for my typically sized teen. It was a nightmare even trying to get it as it was never in stock. It looks nice. We support their mattress with the metal crossbeam and wood slats. We assembled it exactly per details, and have owned many pieces of Ikea furniture. The bed constantly creaks and makes cracking, splintering noises. The mattress sinks. It is a behemoth of a piece of furniture, is extraordinarily heavy, and takes up a lot of space. It is difficult to make the bed. If it wasn’t such a pain to disassemble and transport back the four hours, we would’ve returned it months ago. Lesson learned to never buy a particleboard product that supports a person. Meanwhile, my daughter has the low rated Tarva bed and it is a dream.

Mostly straightforward assembly, sturdy and attractive design

Purchased the queen version of the Malm platform bed with four underbed storage boxes. Took slightly longer than 3 hours for two people to assemble the bed frame and headboard, but we were meticulous in following the instructions and did all hardware tightening by hand (no power tools). This definitely is a two-person assembly, though, and there were one or two head-scratchers that had us pre-reading the next step to make sure we understood how it was all supposed to fit together. Believe the instruction manual. Very happy with the white stained oak finish. It's extremely attractive, and very solid. There was some damage to the underbed storage drawers which were packaged separately (though all shipped together by truck). Not good anymore
6 January 2023

I've been happily buying Malm beds for years. Finally upgraded - I thought - to this one, bc I wanted underbed storage. This Malm design is not good. It took HOURS to put together, bc the pieces simply don't fit well. The wood is thinner, the headboard constantly creaks and feels unstable even after tightening everything as much as I could. I got the Lonset slats and now my mattress just sits on top of the frame (not held in place), sliding around any time I move too much or make the bed. They raised the price for this?I gave a second star only bc the storage drawers are nice. But I'll never buy a Malm again.

Sturdy and sleek
1 February 2023

A sibling of mine owned this bed frame years ago and recommended it to me when we were at our local IKEA since I was looking for one. When I bought it, the pieces were a little heavy but nothing too crazy. When it came time to building it, we finished in under an hour. I recommend having a screwdriver with different adjustable heads or just a smaller and regular sized screwdriver to make it easier. It's definitely better to build with two people than one person alone. Very sturdy but not too heavy once assembled. Did have to use a bit of force to get the finishing touches but it came out amazing. My sibling did make the comment that the bed is much sturdier and has added steps that ensure durability.

do not buy this bed.
14 March 2023

I had an awful experience ordering this bed. They canceled my delivery 5 times. (this was a sign to not order this bed I should have known) Not to mention, customer service was disrespectful when I just wanted to know why my delivery date was changed multiple times. The wood is flimsy, it's not flat it's slanted. I ordered the 2 storage boxes that came with the bed and it was missing parts to put the storage boxes together so I can't put them up. Also, the storage boxes aren't even connected to the bed, it just has wheels to go under. The metal piece that goes under the wood is not strong enough to hold onto my actual bed. I am never buying from Ikea ever again. Do not recommend

Bought this bed as a highly recommended product from a close friend. Little did I know it was highly recommended based solely on how this product looked... After a few draining hour of trying to assemble this bed, I realized the panels underneath the mattress come out of place, VERY easily. But like I said it took way too long to assemble and the thought of returning it sounded like it wouldn't be worth it if I just readjust the panels every time it fell apart.. but of course I was naive and it was a little over a year ago so I was young. Now as we fast forward to today March 13th, 2023. I have probably readjusted the panels on this bed more than I've slept on it. If you do any sort of movement your mattress will end up on the floor as well as the panels of course. ... MoreBought this bed as a highly recommended product from a close friend.
