This pad is our 2nd one. We bought one about 8 years ago. But have used it ALOT in the past 2 years due to Covid. It is a decent pad for the price. Won't last a lifetime but i'm not sure it's ment to. It fell apart so I had to buy a new one. It started to fall apart a few years ago, but wasn't a big deal til now.

This is my second purchase of this item. I like the fact it always looks new no matter how I use it daily. It is very easy to clean with water and a microfiber cloth. Rings from cups and glasses are quickly wiped away. It always provides a comfortable and temperate feel to my arms as they are placed initially on the surface as well as after several hours.

I'm using it with my Fully Jarvis standing desk and the front lip/size works well for what I have. This was an impulse purchase in store, but I did know that I wanted something to protect the surface of the desk (other alternatives I had looked at before were more expensive). I also liked that I can get away without a mousepad anymore since my mouse works well on this surface. I'm anticipating that this will be pretty easy to keep clean if I wipe it down every once in a while. Some things that would be nice would be alternative color options for either the pad itself or the stitching. The only other thing to watch out for is to make sure that this desk pad fits your desk's depth and doesn't run into anything like monitor mounts or holes in a desk to run cables through.

While the desk mat looked great when it was new, the surface is fragile and got damaged very quickly.Only had it for a few days and it already has two damaged spots - one from rubbing against the office chair, and one on the surface of unknown cause.Contrary to a leather pad that gains character with scruffs, the surface just peeled off where the office chair was rubbing, looking really ugly.I don't like the fact that the ledge is taller than the table thickness.I do like the steel backing as that allows using magnets to hold documents in place. And I like the front ledge that holds the pad in place and reduces wear on the table. I just wish the surface was sturdier.
The only issues I have with this product are: 1. It does not fit well with a HEMNES desk collection. It is just deep enough to overlap with the hole in the desk that collects cords so the desk pad needs to be situated to the left instead of centered. 2. There is a metal backing to the desk pad which keeps it rigid but unfortunately this interferes with the blue tooth signal for mouse and keyboard if you have such wireless products. It's pretty annoying so you're better off with USB connected desktop devices if possible. 3. I have no idea what the flap is for. Seems useless and will bump into most computer monitors if they are sitting on the same desk unless the stand is high enough. All in all does not seem to be a well thought out product to be compatible with ... MoreThe only issues I have with this product are: 1. It does not fit well with a HEMNES desk collection. I've had this for three weeks, and usually just have my keyboard and mousepad on it. I've noticed a small tear, with peeling edges, on the surface. Not sure how it got there, but if this can't stand the wear and tear of a keyboard, that's an issue. Also, although it looks nice from afar, it's a dust magnet up close.
I bought this for my non IKEA desk, and it works great for it. I have a Sauder desk that is over 5 years old and the edge trim was coming off where I work the most. I tried gluing it, taping it, and it kept separating. I had the 2 other IKEA desk pads before and kept trying to keep the edge covered, but to no avail.I was in the store recently and I saw this on one of the desks on display. It feels substantial in person, and the edge protector is what made me look at it. They didn’t have any in stock so I had to wait. It was worth it. I wish I had purchased this sooner so I could have protected the edge.
If you have a desk from IKEA you need this. My desk edge has worn down severely, down to the cheap compressed wood underneath, and the desk pad covers the edge and makes the desk like new. No problem with metal in the pad...some complained it can interfere with computer/mouse bluetooth and it doesn't. Some ask what the left flap is for: is carry over from olden days when you had little pieces of paper with phone messages. They should leave this out of the design -- I have to place my MacStudio right on top of it....the desk pad is so large. But great purchase!
We purchased for our den as it is same manufacture as our desk and end tables, so all goes perfect together as same finish & color. We wood glued all seams so this provides additional stability & rigidity to piece just like high end furniture. Bought a couple of bins for cubby holes so can hide items like desk supplies for neatness. Looks great and not over powering.
The good - it has a metal core, so magnets stick to it very well, for cable management. The fold-over thing on the left should not be there. It just makes part of the cover useless, and it's right where you want the edge of your keyboard. They need a version without this "feature".
