This is a pretty good lamp for the money. There are a few problems with it though.:1) the springs that keep the lamp in place (you can see them in the pictures) seem to wear out quickly. Thus, after a while the lamp won't stay in certain positions. This has caused me to have to purchase this lamp a few times. Though, if Ikea had spare springs for sale I would just replace them.2) As others have said, it is madness to put the on/off switch in such an awk place. I used to have older versions of this lamp that had the on/off switch at the top of the lamp shade (where the cord is on the current lamp in the picture).Other than those issues, I think the lamp is pretty good. I love the fact that it clamps on my desk which gives it stability and great range of motion.

This is by far the most versatile lighting fixture available for craft and task lightingAwesome for the reloading bench. Many choices available on light bulb choices. Accurate color control for viewing vintage photos .The light is steady and stable but can be positioned in any angle just by simple manipulating on multiple axis pivot points..so good I’m getting additional ones to replace desk lamps as these take up absolutely No desk space and clean looking.. cannot be tipped over!!!

This is an excellent angle poise lamp and the cost is very reasonable. Only disappointment is it no longer available in black - a slightly annoying aspect concerning IKEA, one you find an item you like and go back for more it's either the wrong colour or discontinued altogether. Nonetheless, the grey isn't too bad. I was a little annoyed on finding a small hex nut missing upon opening some weeks after purchase, thus too late and rather tiresome to seek a replacement. As sheer luck would have it I actually spotted a small hex nut just a few days later in London lying on the street and by miracle of miracles it fitted. The only drawback with this appliance is how short the lead is, nothing that an extension lead can't remedy of course. The rocker switch is essentially moulded on and if it fails as one did on another of these I have, then it does mean a little electrical repair or getting another lamp! Also the clamp could have been designed a little sturdier. I have had one break and had t glue it since replacement parts are seemingly unavailable.

I bought two of these - one in blue, one in charcoal gray, to use with BR30 grow bulbs that are 1 watt below the rated max for this lamp. Just needed to tighten up the lamp screws so it didn't sag, as out of the box they were a bit too loose. The lamp, aside from the cheap plastic mount (which I didn't use), is sturdy metal. The power switch is in an odd place, but you can either use a smart bulb or smart plug to remove it from the equation. If you shop elsewhere, the same money will get you a much smaller lamp with a cheap-looking plastic base and/or flimsy clamp mount and NO bulb.Tertial is a GREAT lamp at a great price! Even with the extra expense, the lamps are well worth it.
Bought this after searching everywhere for an artist-style lamp to put at my desk. Admittedly, the lamp might be a little bit big for my space, but it functions wonderfully. It spreads the light evenly across my desk and is adjustable to meet whatever position I need it in - it also comes with a wall attachment. I probably wouldn't get the bulb they recommend on their site if you intend to use this for creating art under, as it's a bit yellow - but that isn't a problem with the lamp! Overall; seemingly sturdy, nice finish, good light spread, easily adjustable :)
I bought 2 of these to replace ones I wasn’t happy with. The base on this has a little more support than the one I replaced, which seemed loose at the support clip. I also like the shape of the lamp which is a little nicer than the one I replaced. My only recommendation would be to put the on/off switch in the lamp itself and not have a toggle switch.
I have multiple Tertials at home for my work desk because they're a great space saver. By connecting to the edge of my desk I am able to fill it out with my computer and papers. It also looks alright as long as you like the industrial look. They're cheap too so replacing them wasn't too much of an issue. Just keep an eye on the bulbs, I thought it was a cable issue but in the end the light bulb was the reason for my grief.
I'm curious about how you say the word "simple" in Swedish, because that's how I would describe setting up this lamp on my desk. This took so little effort to put together and it's working like a charm. Simple to setup, simple to operate, it's a no brainer of a purchase. I even have the ability to operate this lamp without taking up much space on my desk. If you're thinking of getting this lamp, then do so. You'll be glad you did.
I agree with some other reviewers…While this is a Great Value for Money product, there is one area to bear in mind:The thumbscrews to secure the cantilever’s are very small. This may be tough for smaller hands, or weaker hands to tighten adequately to secure the lamp in the desired position. If only they could replace that thumbscrew with another twice the diameter… that would make it ideal for almost everyone!
We have only had the lamp for a short time about a week or two. So far, the lamp works well, was easy to set up and looks good. We purchased for my son to use on his art/drafting style desk, where the desk has a slanted top. I am assuming that due to this slant of the desk the lamp can only lean to the one front forward position and will not stay if moved from side to side. It always returns to the forward front. This does not bother my son at all, he still loves it. I don’t think he realizes it should stay when moved.I just wanted to add, after reading some of the previous reviews I was a little worried about the on/off switch being on the cord. However, since the switch it is very close to the base it has not been a problem at all and is easy and convenient to use.
