Purchased the HYLLESTAD 2 years ago this month, which is now changed name to the ANNELAND,but it’s still same mattress,it says mattress is firm/medium,but more on the firm side, have had continuous sore back issues with this mattress, didn’t think it was mattress due to it being new, although it was very firm at start I put it down again to it being new but it’s never softened, slept in spare room for past 2 weeks now and I’ve had a far better sleep and not waking up with stiff back, mattress is well made, still as good as day purchased and holds shape with no sagging but be cautious when purchasing if have back issues ,I am considering buying mattress topper to hopefully fix issue but it’s already a very thick mattress so won’t look the best with a mattress topper on top ... This mattress is so expensive and we were really looking forward to getting a good quality mattress that we had really really saved up for. Originally we bought the firm and took it back for a medium firm because it was just way too hard. And now even with the medium firm it is causing both me and my partner to have back and hip pain and now there is nothing we can do about it now because of their returns policy. We hugely regret buying with IKEA and advise you shop elsewhere for mattresses. Really disappointed and tired!

Firm and comfortable for heavy people.I always have lower back pain when using other soft mattresses, but this one is supportive for my back while also springy enough for my lighter partner. Consider this one or ÅKREHAMN (no spring) if you're looking for a firm mattress.

We spent weeks hesitating and spoke to a very knowledgeable member of staff (John at the Exeter branch). We'd had a super-comfortable Dunlopillo latex mattress for years and looked at mattresses up to 4x the price but were convinced that the firm option for this mattress would be a good substitute. It's even better than our original mattress (!)and we're super happy with our choice. Thank you IKEA for making an affordable yet excellent mattress and thank you John for all your valuable advice.
The IKEA Mattress department only shows mattresses on Single Beds. When they are on a Double Bed they feel completely different! A mattress described as Medium/Firm feels just like that on a single bed, but is Soft and Floppy on a double bed. Changing that for a cheaper mattress, the Medium/Firm felt Soft and Floppy on the single bed so I took the Firm version which on a double bed remains hard. Even a topper is no help. And I had to pay for transport to have it delivered and returned.I would not recommend buying an IKEA mattress unless you can try it in the shop on a double bed, not a single one. Right now you get a very false and misleading impression.
Within 2months the mattress has sunk around the edges and is causing a lot of pain and discomfort. Its uneven and has become more soft over time. You can not return the mattress only exchange but it was physically impossible for me to take it back to store. As i contacted customer services i was told it can only be returned in store as i bought it from the store. My car was too small and it would not fit the mattress once opened. I could not compress the mattress back up.On top of that I would had to pay the difference if wanted to switch from a medium firm to a firm matress which were the same price when we bought them. But as prices have risen we have to pay the difference. Not happy at all. All other companies give you more help having issues with a product but ... This mattress dips at the hips way too much. It is memory foam & moulds to your body, but it moulds so much that it traps you in place, making it difficult, whilst asleep, to roll over. Being trapped in one place all night is very uncomfortable & like one other reviewer has pointed out, I too wake up with aches & pains in lower back area, which I did not have before. Unfortunately, because I bought this mattress in December it is too late to return, but you have to give yourself time to evaluate your purchase. Very expensive mistake.I had a fantastic Hokassen mattress, which was perfect, but when we decided to get a superking size bed, we realised that they don’t make the Hokassen anymore & so we got this. My advice would be to try it in the showroom but lay on it ... MoreThis mattress dips at the hips way too much. My advice would be to try it in the showroom but lay on it for at least an hour……it seems great when you first lay on it, but over about an hour you sink too far into it. Please don’t make the same mistake as us. A mattress topper won’t help, we made that mistake too.
I have had this mattress for just over 5 weeks (medium firm) and I really love it now, but it took me a good two weeks to get used to it. The first couple of nights it felt a bit too firm and my back and hips ached, but now my body has adjusted and the mattress feels perfect!
Unless you ask specifically or dig deeply to IKEA return policy, you won’t know on the last page it says no return for mattress. Warning to those who might fall for their clever advertising.
Very deceiving advertising. You can’t return. Only exchange. This policy is very hard to find on the last page of their PDF version of full return policy.
