A fabulous decaf that still tastes as robust as a good quality standard bean. It’s the only decaf bean I’ve found that isn’t weak and flavourless.After trying other leading brands of Italian decaf, as well as expensive locally roasted options, this is a godsend for coffee lovers who don’t want caffeine, but want to drink a pleasurable cup of coffee.

Delightful Decaf

I recently got serious about coffee. I started grinding my own and up graded my coffee maker. But, I’m a decaf coffee drinker. After trying several local roasters and finding their decaf lacking I turned to Illy. Bingo! Their medium dark roast decaf is rich in flavor and no bitter bite. It’s a winner!

Good for Aeropress, but not for espresso

All of the boutique beans I've used for espresso result in an "off" flavor that makes the shot undrinkable. I use a Rocky grinder and Silvia espresso machine. I weigh out 18 grams of beans and use a grind fineness and tamping pressure that results in about 25 seconds to pull a double shot. I stop at the start of blonding. I get a reasonable amount of crema. But I can't drink the shot!I hoped Illy beans would solve my problem, but they didn't. I get a tasty cup using my Aeropress, but not from Miss Silvia. I'll try more Illy varieties to see if there is one that I can turn into an enjoyable espresso.

Great Coffee Beans

I’ve been using this coffee for a number of years now. It was recommended to me by the maker of my coffee machine and I’ve been so pleased. I have a subscription which saves a bit of money, and delivery is always very prompt. I highly recommend these coffee beans.

My morning ritual and memories of Rome

I purchased whole bean decaf. My morning ritual is to grind just enough beans to make my cup of coffee in my Italian coffee pot. I smell the beans grinding. I smell the coffee brewing. Then I got the most wonderful cup of coffee to start my day. The decaffeinated beans are the right balance of richness and depth. It brings me back to the time I lived in Rome.

Shocking good!

Was a real doubter on decaf but according to the doc it was necessary. I had to tinker a little bit with the dosage, went with 17.5g, but espresso results are fantastic. Hard to discern from regular, if at all. Very good product.

Weird pricing

I was looking to deal with the huge price increase in Illy coffee of late by buying multiple cans. I checked illy website and they sell 6 can lots which are better deal. Almost bought and something called my attention to the single can page where you can also buy multiple cans. I could buy 6 cans from that page cheaper than the 6-pack page!! What a crazy way to treat customers buying in volume.

best decaf

I started drinking decaf a few years ago. Ive tried various brands, including using beans. (Would be nice if Ocado stocked the Illy decaf beans.) Personally Ive given up on instants, too thin a taste. There are some good decafs to be found, but when its a matter of personal taste obviously you need to search and try. Ive drunk this brand throughout because its consistent and has a ton of flavour and depth without the downside of full caffeine. Expensive, yes, but I just stock up when on offer.

best decaf beans so far!

I gave up caffeine in January and have been trying various beans as I really miss my morning coffee. These are the best so far. Rounded flavour not bitter and no aftertaste. I grind them on the same espresso setting as caffeine beans. Lovely coffee and good pride. Wish they did a 1kg pack.

disappointed

As a coffee lover who has to drink decaf, Ive high standards when it comes to beans. I usually buy beans and grind them myself, so this could have been part of the problem. Very disappointed in the flavour. Ill stick with Unions decaf.
