This pressure cooker has been with me through thick and thin. First arriving on my 21st birthday as a gift from my ex-girlfriends parents, I immediately knew that it would be durable from the large dent on the side. Now that I am 22 (and a half) this pressure cooker and I have seen it all. First of all, the instant pot makes a spicy curry like no other (it gave me a stomach ulcer), tender meat that will make your jaw drop to the floor and is so quick that you won't even realise. Fighting to keep the instant pot in the divorce, I lost the house (the mortgage) and the dogs; yet have never been happier! The whistle as it releases pressure is music to my ears, as I have learnt to associate its sweat sweat music with my own freedom and delicious cooking. Overall, a life changing product that

Love the larger capacity, can cook big or small meals without an issue. Very fast heat up, great for searing/sauteing, and pressurising only takes 5 minutes (my Breville took 30-40, if it ever did pressurise). Quality stainless steel bowl, no issues with food sticking so far and easy to clean, flat base means oil doesn't pool around the outside. Was a little daunted by all the buttons after having a Breville with the neat dial, but it's self intuitive and easier than the Breville! Haven't been disappointed with a meal yet. Overall, a fantastic appliance that makes my life easier and I would recommend it to everyone.

Useful device however the size of the unit should not be underestimated. In the write ups it mentions the size is good for 4 person family, however the capacity is HUGE. I'd say it's for a LARGE family. The unit itself is also huge and takes up a lot of counter space. For most couples, small families I'd suggest go for the smaller 2 litre model. Also if you already have a pressure cooker, then there's not really much more that this unit can do, except you don't need to use a stove. A lot of hype about this, and in hindsight i would instead either get the smaller one or not get it at all. Supposed to come with a spare rubber seal according to the online literature, but it wasn't included. Also you'll need to buy accessories yourself which is odd given the high price.

Appliances Online is a wonderful service I have nothing but good things to say about every purchase and delivery. However I am very disappointed by this product. I have tried for 3 months to successfully make a simple stew and I am yet to get through a batch without the bottom burning. Often taking over 1hr to get it going properly sometimes having to empty the entire contents and scrub the bottom multiple times. I have researched what I could be doing wrong, there is adequate liquid, I don't fry in it so there is no burnt base etc. I hope this is just a faulty one as i wanted to love this so much but it definitely has been a cause of great fruatration. Waiting for a service call
It is a a very convenient multi cooker. Very efficient for first time buyers. I always wanted to own a multi cooker and after extensive research I found this affordable appliance and now I think everyone needs to have this in their kitchen. It makes cooking meats, grains and pulses so easy, even rice gets cooked in 8 mins. I cooked beef in this cooker and it took me less than 15 mins to have it cooked tender and juicy. I like to experiment with my food more because of how fast the appliance cooks it and saves me time since I’m a university student. You can sauté in the pot first and then add meat or rice to pressure cook it under high or low. Of course there are better but pricier options available but this is the best in it price range and a good way to start using ... MoreIt is a a very convenient multi cooker. My son wanted this appliance as it was recommended on forums as good for cooking for an Amine diet due to it speed. It has turned out to be fantastic. We are still exploring its full functional abilities. So far broths and meat dishes are completed in record time compared to traditional cooking methods. We have even cooked a frozen whole chicken quickly to fall apart deliciousness ...... it truely has instant capabilities. The cooking insert is quality stainless steel and it and the lid can be washed in the dishwasher. The steam release is simple and safe. I like the audible signals when the cooking is complete. There are lots of recipies and tips on line to make this the go to for quick on the table delicious evening meals. I fully recommend this product.
When our slow cooker broke, replacing it with an Instant pot felt like a big gamble, but after a week I was a total convert. It makes perfect rice, tender meat, incredible risotto, quick soup, great lasagne, etc, etc, etc. The only thing it doesn't cope with well are recipes with dairy, but there are ways around this and it can even make a decent lasagne. It's a completely different way of cooking, and timings are critical. Talking to friends with other brands, they all got a bit stuck after making the handful of recipes which came with their pressure cookers. Luckily there are literally hundreds of cookbooks specific to Instant Pot (I recommend The Instant Pot Bible for beginners), there's even a free app with lots of recipes to start you off. Luckily there are literally hundreds of cookbooks specific to Instant Pot (I recommend The Instant Pot Bible for beginners), there's even a free app with lots of recipes to start you off. I've also discovered that Instant Pot is quite a lot faster than most pressure cookers avaliable in NZ. I would recommend it to any busy family (if you are a family of 4+, you'd want the larger size), or if you're expecting baby (it would be great for making baby-food, just make sure you learn how to use it before baby arrives and you're too tired!). The only disadvantage I've found is that you can't guarantee dinner on the table at a specific time, as sometimes it takes a bit longer to come to pressure. But it's always boiling hot, so I usually make it a bit earlier and leave it in the pot to cool a bit. It also has a timer, so you could set it before going to work and have dinner when you get home. I also have sealing rings, it's good to have a couple, one for meat/curries and one for sweet/plain dishes.
Harvey Norman was the cheapest place in NZ to buy this from and it pretty much came within a couple of days. If it stops working Harvey Norman will do something about it so, buying it somewhere only available on line is not a good option when you have to pay shipping and deal with online companies that don't even have a phone number. I bought the instant pot because it has a stainless steel inner and I have worked out over a long time that I am very allergic to teflon, it takes me out for two days when I cook with it. This is slower than my living & co pressure cooker to heat up and start cooking but it gets the job done. The instant pot stainless steel inner pot fits exactly into the living and co pressure cooker and works fine. The benefit of instant pot is, is that there are 1000s of users on youtube with tips and recipes and what goes wrong and how to fix it, however, they are known for their reliability.
We have been using our new Instant Pot for nearly one month and it has been incredibly easy to cook nice and quick meals at once. After purchasing a vegan recipe book and did realise all meals are prepared in an instant pot. So a $12 book ended up costing us over $200. Delivery was very fast and got our new pot in excellent condition. We have since then prepared many dishes including burrito breakfast, Eutiopian stew, Mushroom soup, chickpea curry, brown rice, bulgur, farro grain and much more. All vegan dishes. Only thing is the strong smell on the silicone ring which is very hard to get rid off even after soaking it in warm soapy water for a while. Otherwise this is a very useful kitchen appliance and we are happy we have one in our kitchen. Highly recommend it :-)
Whilst it can cook things faster it's overall not at practical. I'll summarise below: - can't adjust heat easily. Sautee function not recommended. It will lead to sticking. Use a pan before instead. - uneven heat distribution when sauteing - takes longer to set up than a pan (plug in cables, fit seal - takes longer to wash (clean out seal, lid takes time to dry in all the nooks and crannies - when it sticks you need to empty everything out, wash and start again Overall this is only really useful for quickly cooking tough meats (works wonders on ox tongue, Osso, ribs). But to get the good flavour you'll want to use a pan to sear and caramelise the meat separately. Even browning the onions in a separate pan, otherwise the pot will stick (even the ceramic one I bought).
