Instant pot. I would recommend this cooking pot to all age groups. I've only used it once as I've only had it for a week but was amazed at how easy it is to use. I'm 78 and thought I would find it too complicated but no. Please read instructions well before use. I was disappointed there was no recipe book with the cooker so had to buy one. Manufacturers should at least put a few recipes in the box as doing the dry run does not make up for making.a first meal and getting the confidence to use it. I would recommend this product to anyone short of time in their lives. I also had to buy a set of measuring cups as the cook book was American quantities.

Bought this little helper in December and it completely changed my life. I spend no more than 30min in the kitchen (usually 10-15) and I get super nice healthy meals. I cook vegan food in the instant pot, but I'm super happy with its performance. Gets to pressure very fast Vs older models (will also depend on volume of water and food inside) and cooks things to perfection without supervision and without incident. Needs a bit of care, to ensure the vent is closed (otherwise the food will burn, thankfully that never happened), but otherwise a fantastic kitchen helper for a busy life. The taste is incredible. I usually cook same foods on a rotation so I remember the timings and water volume needed, but any recipe (with timing and water needed) is a couple of clicks ... MoreBought this little helper in December and it completely changed my life. One can even cook artichokes, or boil eggs (perfect peeling once you fine tune the recipe)... anything is possible.

I decided to give this thing a try after seeing so much about it and reading many of the other good reviews. My main reason for wanting it was to be able to do slow cook meals since I do not have a crock pot, but to also have the option to try other ways of cooking as well. My first attempt was an epic fail! I prepped all the ingredients for a beef stew which would typically be cooked in a slow cooker for 8 hours. I added everything into the pot, turned it on normal slow cook and set the time for 8 hours... so finally, at almost 10:00 p.m. when I opened it for dinner the potatoes and carrots were still raw! Nothing even really cooked. The next day, I tried again and set it on just "stew/meat", and within 5 minutes it beeped and indicated "burn" so I opened it up and ... MoreI decided to give this thing a try after seeing so much about it and reading many of the other good reviews. I sat down to reread and try to figure it out in the instructions, but no helpful information. I was actually curious why the insert was just stainless and without a non-stick coating. I ended up just simmering it in a pot on the stove after that! Wish I could return it, but of course I have already tried using it! Guess I will go buy me a cheap crock pot after all.

I have been using italmost daily in the last 3 weeks.Lots of great websites fo find recipes. It is very fast. Faster if you put hot water in as the time to get the pressure ready will become shorter. The saute function is great too, so fast to get very hot! Examples: rice ( takes 5 min to get pressure, and then I put 5 min to cook), but if you are not going to release the pressure immediately, then I use only 2-3 min to cook and leave the pressure to release. I did macaroni cheese (7 min), pork (20 min), whole chicken (20 m in) steam vegetables ( 2 min), mince meat. for bolognesa, many many soups ( 5-10 min)....I love it!I have to reduce the time people advice in their recipes, because this one is much faster and stronger, maybe because its new, or a new model.Easy ... MoreI have been using italmost daily in the last 3 weeks.Lots of great websites fo find recipes. I got an extra pot too. So I can marinate meat in one, while cooking soup in another one, for example.
Pressure is lower than a stove top pressure cooker (11psi rather than 15psi) so be aware of that - longer cooking times needed for meat. But this is so useful if you like to cook stews, pulses, soups, stocks without having to stand over the stove and watch the pan. For cooking pulses for vegetarian food particularly, it is extremely useful. You don’t need to pre-soak, and you don’t have a kitchen full of steam and a monster electric bill. Not noisy or hissy or scary like a trad pressure cooker. You can saute things before you pressure cook them, eg, onions and leeks etc for soup, then add stock and other ingredients and put the lid on, seal the weight, and press “soup” and then it takes about 40 minutes including heating up and releasing pressure naturally. But you can always release the pressure fast if you are impatient! Yes, it isn’t ultra quick, but it is quicker than cooking a casserole in the oven. I sometimes cook a stew on stew setting then finish it in the oven, but this still takes less time than conventional cooking. I notice someone here has reviewed this badly on the basis they didn’t understand how to use it, but the manual gives clear instructions, and it is not complicated if you can read. Besides, as I said, youtube has videos showing usage if you can’t read LOL….It is quite big, so make sure you have space for it, but it wouldn’t be difficult to keep it in a cupboard and get it out to use as needed if necessary, it’s not too heavy. Get spare silicone rings for sweet/savoury and the glass lid is useful for slow cooking. Re Slow cooking, the slow cook temperature is a tad on the high side so you need to keep an eye on it to check the fluid level. But it does slow cook effectively, if that’s your bag. Soup, Stew, Meat, Grain settings all work fine also. I have the original model not the fancy smart models but the principle is the same. I am buying one for my sister for Christmas. Very much worth the money.
I bought the instant pot because I been using it at everyone elses house and thats how I learn to use it. You can google how to make all kinds of stuff online. But must of all I wanted to make beef stew and cut my cooking time. Its 40 to 45 mins. Its great normally it takes 3 hours to cook. Only thing is l wish I got the bigger size.
I have used this Instapot 5 times and all of the dishes that I made came out delicious! I'm so glad that there's many Instapot recipes available online because I didn't really like the recipe book that it came with. So far, I've made chili, minestrone soup, chicken dish and mac and cheese. I've only used the pressure cook button and saute to make my dishes and for the most part, none of them were longer than 15 minutes to pressure cook. The minestrone soup was only 2 minutes to pressure cook. I didn't do a water test, I did get a lot of guidance from my sisters, and they were the ones who convinced me to buy one, especially the 6 quart size. We were spending so much money on take out food or prepared meals, that I don't want to do that anymore. I prefer to make our own meals, and it really is a no-brainer to do one pot meals on the Instapot. I have to say that the left overs tastes so delicious even the next day. The clean up is also easy! I highly recommend this product!
I got this to try and free up some counter space in my small kitchen. It was intended to replace a soup maker, slow cooker and pressure cooker. And it looks as though it will. Love the fact that you can just set it to do its stuff on the easy to use digital interface and just come back later and its all done. It even automatically keeps stuff warm for you rather than just switching off.So far I've done a soup, a lamb tagine and a cottage pie (steaming the potatoes above the meat, which worked remarkably well). And there is only one pot to clean (well two for the pie as I finished off the cheese topping under the grill). The rather large cooking vessel lifts out easily and cleans easily. The only niggle is that there is a recessed lip in the "mothership" into which food can slip and which is then fiddly to clean.Overall though a very good buy. Between this, the airfryer and the microwave, the newer gadgets may have made the traditional cooker redundant.
I bought this product mainly for making yoghurt which it does brilliantly. It makes the task a lot easier for me. As a bonus it can do many other things such as pressure cooking and slow cooking being just two of them. There are at least four other functions. This makes it great value for money.
I bought my instant pot during the first lockdown - i needed to feed 4 adults and 2 kids daily and wanted to ensure we had something healthy and nutritious to eat. The instant pot soon came into it's own.The first thing I didn't realise was that there's a dedicated app full of step by step recipes. We've quickly found a number of favourite recipes including the Chicken Tortilla Soup (pictured) which we've made multiple times over. The app guides you through everything you need to do making the cooking process a doddle. We've made soups, cakes, stews and rice dishes with pretty good results most times (some drier recipes i've found need a little more water to avoid them sticking to the cooking pot). The cooking process itself is very easy, just put in your food, ... MoreI bought my instant pot during the first lockdown - i needed to feed 4 adults and 2 kids daily and wanted to ensure we had something healthy and nutritious to eat. We mainly use the pressure cook and slow cook functions, but it will saute and even make Yogurt (not tried that one). Cleaning is easy, remove the metal cooking pot and stick it in the dishwasher or wash it by hand, then give the lid a quick wipe and then it's ready for the next dish.I think the instant pot would be great for batch cooking, or if you have a small kitchen and need an appliance that can do multiple things then this is for you. it's kept us well fed through the lockdowns and i'm glad we took the gamble.
