Bed Bath and Beyond had an excellent price on this 8qt Instant Pot Pro. I've been making chicken bone broth for a while in a very large pot on the stove top for a while. Usually it cooks for 8-10 hours which means I have to baby sit it for that long. I thought getting the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker, cooking time can be cut down to maybe 2-3 hours and it would have a same wonderful result. I was mistaken. I've loaded up the pressure cooker to a "proper" level programed it and the cycle started. 20 minutes into cooking there was a very offensive burning smell coming from the Instant Pot.Looked at the LED readout but it said nothing about anything burning. I've heard, and have been curious about an instant pot for some time. I dove in and gave it a try. I'm glad I did!It can be a intimidating at first, but the concept is simple - higher pressure cooks things faster. Once you try it, its actually very easy.I've tried a few dishes in this, and surprisingly it is pretty versatile for meals, and what a time saver really! I'll admit when I pulled this out of the box and saw how shiny it was, I was skeptical it would look this good for long (I'm looking at you finger-printed stainless fridge!!), though I loved the clean, modern look. It has defied expectations though, and stays pretty spot and fingerprint free without me having to constantly wipe it down, even living next to my sink and getting splashed frequently. Excellent job with materials, Instant Pot!Functions a lot like my old model, with some cool improvements to safety and functionality. I no longer have to physically vent it, since I can opt for the pot to do that itself. The one downside I haven't found a workaround for is that I used to sometimes release pressure, add more ingredients, and then put the lid back on and ... Without being able to manually open the vent, the lid is tricky to get back on while the pot is warm. There may be a way to easily do this, just haven't found it yet! Really nice not to risk putting my hand in a jet of hot steam though! It now has a protective grate over the metal on the lid. This is a huge safety improvement for klutzes like me (they warn you the metal gets hot and it does!). The controls are pretty intuitive, though I did check the manual for one or two things. Pressure cooks just like my original, which always was excellent! Saute is such a fantastic feature, and works much better with the new liner pot that stays put and doesn't spin. No more trying to hold a hot liner still while browning ground beef for chili! I haven't tried canning yet, but as someone who loves to pick berries in summer, I'm looking forward to having some homemade jams without taking up freezer space. Sous vide is the one feature I'm both excited about and a little skeptical of. On one hand, it seems to work fairly well, BUT the temp isn't totally accurate (test with a digital thermometer and adjust as needed, seems to hold temp pretty well though, which is critical). I do also worry about even heating without water circulation. Going to have to keep testing that before giving up my old circulator and plastic pot. Time will tell if it works well enough to ditch them. Definitely would be nice to not need separate bulky equipment to sous vide though, especially in a very small kitchen!I've long given my Instant Pot a spot n my counter despite limited space, because it's such a great multitasker. I make so much, including my dog's meals (he eats fish, which I hate, and I love that I can't smell it cooking), in this gadget. So far the changes generally seem to improve safety and make it smoother to use. The added bonuses of canning and sous vide are great, especially if you are just venturing into either (will be my first time canning!). This version has the added bonus of looking pretty fab if you have it on your counter all the time like I do. A big plus in my book! Unlike some companies that really start jumping the shark with product features, this doesn't have anything that makes me shake my head and wonder what they were thinking. It's simply a great product spiffed up and made even better! I was an instant fan when I got my first pot (pun intended!) and this new one definitely keeps my love going strong....(Was sent this item to review, but opinions are 100% mine and honest.)
My first time using and Instant Pot was a success!I did read the instruction booklet prior to using and did the water test to get familiar with the functions.I made beef stew, which started with the saute function and then used the stew pressure cooker setting. It turned out wonderful and the family loved it. It was slightly confusing following the directions (it was a non-Instant Pot recipe) because this particular model Instant Pot has both a high and low setting for saute and the beef began to burn quickly once the saute-high was up to cooking temperature. The one negative about the saute part was the amount of steam/smoke without any sort of exhaust fan made it really hard to see if the meat was browning. (The picture doesn't do a great job showing how ... It states that it is a size quart IP, but when you look at the inner liner, you see a marking for 5 quarts pretty much as the max fill line. I haven't verified by measuring which it is, but whether it's truly 5 quarts or the marking confuses it, I would appreciate more clarity behind that.There is a protector around the pressure valve is great to prevent you from accidentally releasing the pressure. However, you have to fully remove it to manually release pressure, which seems silly. I also didn't securely reattach it the first time, and it fell off when I removed the lid and I almost lost it. That seems like it could be improved.The manual helps, but there are some places where I would love more detail - the canning function, nutrition boost, etc. But I know I'll be able to search for those answers as time goes on.There is also a bluetooth connection so you can control your (plugged in) IP from your phone, which sounds super handy, but I have yet to utilize this either. Granted, when I use my IP, I'm generally in the kitchen, so this is not a make or break feature for me.This is definitely my favorite Instant Pot I've owned so far in terms of features. If I were to make it a 10 quart and incorporate the air fryer lid, this would let me get rid of my "other" Instant Pot. I did already give away my Lux to a neighbor as this one definitely is a much better model and more useful for me.

I can sauté my meat or veggies before adding anything else. There is so many different cooking options. It comes with an extra sealing ring and stainless steel steam rack. Eleven built in safety features including overheat protection and easy seal lid lock. It also has 28 one touch cooking programs. It’s dishwasher safe cooking pot and lid. I can even bake with it. I’m excited to keep using it and seeing everything else I can do. It’s got a delay start option so I can prepare and then set a timer of when I want it to start cooking. It’s just so amazing and so convenient for a mom with kids. Most of the time I don’t have the time to cook for hours for a gourmet dinner. My meat was as tender as if I had slow cooked it for 8 hours and it only took 30 minutes in the Instant Pot Pro. Plus, the keep warm feature is another huge reason I love it. Not all of us in my family eat at the same time and this way I don’t have to reheat my food. I’m in love with this amazing machine!!!
My whole family LOVES this instant pot pro multi-cooker 10 in 1. With just a few ingredients and about an hour my teen boys can even prepare us a delicious meal! They alone have made us a mouthwatering Mississippi pot roast, literally fall off the bone (the best) ribs, and most recently a savory pot of sesame chicken. They are so proud that they can make us yummy food and I'm super happy to get a night off from cooking! I can't wait to use it for bread and yummy cheesecake.
