You might also be interested in buying a Thermalright contact frame, which is very easy to install and will decrease temperatures even further for a very small additional cost.Unfortunately it doesn't have AVX-512, which is a useful CPU instruction for some specific tasks, which was available on a bit older Intel CPUs and is also now available on AMD Ryzen 7000 series. This is because of the heterogeneous architecture as AVX-512 would take too much space on the small E-cores.Thankfully, Intel has a much better memory controller than AMD, which let's you push much higher memory speeds. You should be able to find some cheap RAM kits that use SK Hynix M-die chips that can be pushed way above 6000 MT/s that AMD Ryzen 7000 can currently reliably do.Overall, if you need good multi threaded performance for compiling or other productivity tasks, go ahead, it's an amazing CPU. If you are only going to game, you should look into i5-13600K, R7 5800X3D or once it's released, R7 7800X3D.

I did a lot of research prior to purchasing a brand new CPU. I was leaning towards the i5-13600kf for a while before finally deciding to get this CPU. The stock out of the box performance is a hot CPU that runs at 95-100C during gaming, but with a simple undervolt of -0.100V in the BIOS settings the CPU now runs at 75-80C, which is the ideal temperature. Performance did not change at all.I had an RTX 4080 already prior to this upgrade running on an i7-8700 which was severely bottlenecking the GPU. After this upgrade the RTX 4080 is fully unlocked and running at full power.I am running this CPU with a be quiet! Pure Rock Slim 2. If you purchase this CPU with the intention of overclocking this cooler will not suffice.

I was worried it would run too hot or use too much electricity. this replaces a 5950X system. its on about 16 hours a day. Most of the time its idle or sleeping. Light gaming 2-4 hours a day in the evening. Photoshop and Premiere in short sessions here and there. I track electrical usage with my solar grid and a killawatt meter on this system. The average week / month electrical usage is down for this my new main box. apparently the idle time usage on my 5950X exceeds the 13700K. the 13700K does use more electricity during heavy loads but those are so infrequent. Handbrake for 30 minutes once a month? If I were rendering with blender 8 hours a day the 5950X is better, but I'm not. For every day use, 20 tab browsing and gaming, the 13700K is a winner.

to do with Intel. To get this beast under control I went straight to delidding the CPU, removing factory solder TIM, polishing the underside of the IHS and applying liquid metal thermal compound under the IHS.I also made sure to use a CPU contact frame from ThermalRight. In BIOS settings for the CPU I reduced PL1/PL2 maximum allowed wattage to 185; a 68W reduction from stock 253W. I also applied a negative 0.100V voltage offset across all P-cores to assist in reducing power consumption. However, the additional clock speed pushed single core performance in line with a 13900K in CBR23.Efficiency cores I didn't alter any settings and simply increased frequency 200 MHz to 4.4 GHz.CPU is running like a champ without water cooling. Though Noctua's NH-D15S is near the top of the hill in terms of air cooler capabilities. This massive air cooler keeps all the cores under 80C even in an extended Cinebench R23 multi-core load; and does so completely silently.I could probably tweak settings further, but the PC is running so good I don't even want to mess with it.Paired with ROG Z690G and 32GB G.Skill Z5 Trident RGB DDR5 6400 CL32.
This is one of the best CPUs I've bought(through a nother account) and here's why:1- memory! there is a wide variety of memory you could use, rather if it ddr4 or 5, ddr5: 5600 or down is just perfect of what the CPU can handle (same for ddr4)2- core amount! There is a s*** ton of cores, more then any gamer needs, like rtx on(tested with rtx 4090 and rtx 4060) 60-240+fps like dang and even if your running Minecraft/CSGO/cod, etc with rtx on you could still run 3d loads like blender or any editer!3- gpu support! This CPU will support* basically* any gpu out there.(note: if you use a 4070 ti and above you may experience some defects depending on the motherboard, I recommend Asus, tuf gaming, EVGA, and a few more high end brands.)4- capabilities! TLDR; If you can get this CPU on sale, or around the $350-400 mark, it's insanely good. Above that price it loses in the price/performance to other CPUs given the current market. What can I say - it's a fantastic CPU. I purchased this on sale for $379.99 with a $20 discount to pair with a motherboard, effectively making this $359.99. At this price, it is insane price to performance and an extremely tough deal to pass up.I scored >30500 in Cinebench, and in all my games (paired with a 4090) it just absolutely crushes it. Getting 144+ FPS on my 1440p UW, or 100+ on my 4K Monitor/TV. Solid performance and temps, even while streaming. The only downside is it does run a little warm under heavy load, even with a 360mm AIO, I was hitting up to 96 highs during stress ... MoreTLDR; If you can get this CPU on sale, or around the $350-400 mark, it's insanely good. In most games it runs around 60-65c, even while streaming/watching youtube/etc.I've done some research and think I may undervolt to lower peak temps as many many many other users have gotten success from it. For me, it just doesn't get hot enough under most real world loads to worry though.

What an absolute beast! This is a great CPU for 1080p gaming and esports titles as it can really allow the GPU to run free without a bottleneck. It’s a great price as you get similar game performance to a 13900K but it’s a lot cheaper.I’m cooling it using a 240mm Corsair AIO and it actually does a fantastic job (was worried before stress tests). I’ve taken off all power limits and torture tested all cores and it maxed at 83 degrees at 5.3Ghz. So if you have a 360mm AIO then you would have more room for overclocking and I will probably upgrade to that in the future. If I was looking at doing for CPU all-core demanding tasks then I would recommend the 13900K or the newer Ryzen line up. Let me first start off by saying what a powerful processor the Intel i7-13700K is! This is a big upgrade from the previous generation and a MASSIVE upgrade to the even older generations of Intel processors. The main thing for me is that it pairs perfectly with the latest 40xx series GPUs. It is also an incredibly powerful CPU for multitasking. Besides 4K gaming, I do a lot of photo and video editing. This CPU helps run multiple heavy Adobe programs such as Photoshop, Premier, and Lightroom all at once without skipping a beat. I did have some concerns about this new generation i7 running too hot, but with it being paired with my Corsair CPU cooler, it never overheats even within the most demanding tasks I've thrown at it. Even with heavy 4K gaming and complex photo/video editing, the Intel i7-13700k handles everything I could possibly throw at it.
Coming from a i9 10850K which Comet Lake wasn't bad. But Raptor Lake puts old Intel platforms to shame!
