Intergrain - UltraDeck Timber Oil 4L / Natural

I have a north-facing deck which gets a lot of hot sun and also rain. I've been using Intergrain Ultradeck water-based oil for many years to preserve the timber - and it has worked really well. The decking boards look like new after an application or two of Ultradeck. Water beads off and the sun doesn't fade the rich colour - I use Merbau colour which is not overly red. The more coats of Ultradeck applied, the deeper the colour. I usually apply two coats every few years to keep the deck in pristine condition. Clean up with water is very easy and I usually apply the Ultradeck with a large paint brush, instead of buying the costly applicator brush with the long handle.

This product was an unpleasant surprise. It’s suitable for very dark wood as just makes it a shade darker. I used it on tassie oak screening, this made the wood a sickly yellow brown. This is apparently common as decking oils include a brown tint.Much sanding later I have now applied a clear varnish to recover the job.

Love this product!Was confused about all the oil options a few years back, but after speaking to the paint specialist, realised that water base is the way to go for me. Longer lasting and super easy application. It's been 2 years since my last coat with this product and this one brought the deck back like new. Oiling is easy and really worth the final result. Just like applying sunscreen.
