Ionmax ION420 Breeze Hepa Air Purifier

Great machine, but a little underpowered for even a small room. I’m still having to dust almost daily and the filter isn’t really that dirty even after a week. I’m going to get a bigger machine, that covers far more space than I need. Seems you need to be over generous with the coverage to see a huge difference. I purchased this, as my asthma recently worsened during the strange weather. Wouldn’t recommend for anything bigger than a bedroom.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Neat, compact machine that doesn’t take up much space in our traditional lounge room & is light enough to move easily if necessary.Easy to operate & filter will be easy to change when needed.Very quiet to run – we’ve only had fan on 1 so far and no noise at all.Air feels clean and fresh without being cold, even in the four closed plan rooms that run off the lounge room but whose doors are always open.A good buy.

Clean Air. Safe Air. Super Easy. Filters viruses and smoke particles.

We bought this unit to make the air cleaner in our home partly because of possible future bushfires and poor air quality. It has a HEPA filter that traps tiny smoke particles as well as bacteria and viruses. And it has a button to turn on ionisation so that viruses drop to the ground instead of lingering in the air. We found our sleep improved so bought a second unit for our living area. Compact modern design. Quiet enough on the low setting to leave running all night. We use the handy timer so that the unit shuts off after 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours. It comes with a filter but you will need to purchase replacements as it is disposable not cleanable as part of the way to get rid of viruses.

Easy and cool

This is my first ever air purifier that I actually bought for my dog who coughs a lot during the night. His coughing has eased and he sleeps through the night. Having two dogs in my room, it definitely takes care of the gases they produce during the night. Highly recommended for pure cool air and a great sleep. Thank you.

Great for dust but not for filtering 2nd hand smoke the unit

Excellent customer service however the unit is good for dust but filtering 2nd hand smoke that is escaping through neighbors apartment the unit expels it from the top . This is the 3rd replacement filter purchased and same . The other issue the unit automatically switches off different intervals as prior .

Has an unpleasant chemical smell

This is a nice unit which is very quiet to run at night near your bed on the low fan setting. Unfortunately I found that there is a chemical smell to the output air and I could not sleep with the smell. I thought it might have been the UV-C or ion generator but even with those switched off it is the same. I ran the unit for a day in the hope it might go away but no luck. The smell seems to be from the unit itself as the filter does not have any smell at all. Very disappointed to have something that is supposed to clean the air yet it actually makes it worse!!The other problem is that the controls should have raised buttons for easy operation at night. The control lights that show are not the control buttons which are actually under them. Ionmax Breeze ION420 UV

I wasn't convinced at the efficacy or need, I thought they were just another fad. I was going to say with my parents for 6 weeks, who have a cat that I am highly allergic to & wasn't looking forward to constant asthma, swollen eyes & welts & taking antihistamines 4 times a day, with little effect.I did some research & thought I can't be worse off & had it sent to their home, before I arrived.I am now totally sold on this product.Some days I'm not taking any antihistamines, others 1 a day & I'm using very little ventolin. I noticed a big difference within 2 days of use.Simple to assemble & easy to use.Unit is quiet, especially on low at night.Extremely happy with this air purifier.Thank you

Simple and very effective

This one looked to be the best that was within my budget, and Appliances Online were able to deliver it to me in under 48hrs. The ION420 is very well designed (comprised mainly of a big multilayer filter and a fan). It is extremely effective in filtering the air even in the open plan part of my unit. For the first time in days I was able to breathe fresh air! The vacuumable part of the filter is very easy to access and clean, and it uses hardly any electricity. The filter is said to need replacing after 6 months of 24/7 use, and should last at least 12 months if used more intermittently. Ultra Quiet

The ION420 air purifier is ultra quiet. When I sleep I put it on level 1 & can't hear a thing. During the day, I have it on full blast but time it for 8 hours.I actually have it beside my bed at night. The other unit is in my other bedroom as my Mrs finds it difficult to sleep at night (very sensitive to sounds), so can't handle the zzzz coming from my CPAP machine (all her senses are heightened because of the pregnancy).She also turns on the unit during the day full blast but turns it off at night before she goes to sleep. I will have a unit in our family room & another one somewhere else in the house. We have not decided yet but it will be somewhere where we spend quite some time (either the dining/kitchen or our formal lounge).

Unpleasant smell

From the moment I turned the unit on it has given off an unpleasant odour in the air. I have tried it with the ion and UV switch off and actually without the filter momentarily, but the smell is just inside the unit itself. I ran it for a day but the smell remained. I can't sleep with the smell. So it seems I've bought an air purifier that actually pollutes the air!! Not happy.The other problem is that the control buttons are not raised or lit, so you have to turn on your room light at night if you want to adjust it.Otherwise it runs very quietly and looks stylish. Pity it fails in it's primary purpose!
