I have a small rug in my bathroom that has long length carpet and it does well, doesn’t get stuck going over and off to the tile floor. Overall it’s good, picks up everything. I will say it takes a while for it to find its way back to the dock, not sure why but only once did it die on me in the middle of cleaning a room while it was finding its way back to the dock. The longest run I’ve had it on for is an hour and 15 min and I’m sure it could’ve kept going.

Cannot clean dark carpets

This vacuum worked very well on hardwood floors and tile. The reason for my 1-star rating is because of my frustration over paying so much for what is supposed to be a smart vacuum, yet it cannot clean dark carpeting. I have a black carpet and was most excited for the Roomba to be able to clean it, but it continuously gave “Error 6” which is an error when it is cleaning a dark surface or “driving off a cliff edge”, such as stairs. For such a trusted brand in the robo-vacuum realm, it is underwhelming that this device cannot determine the difference in “going off a cliff edge” versus cleaning a black carpet. A YouTube search for help led me to find that others also have had this issue, but were able to fix it with putting white tape over the sensors. I also attempted this as well, but it did not work and I should have not even had to do that. Roomba support attempted to troubleshoot this by having me unscrew the area underneath where the brushes are held and putting it back on, but it did not work as this is more of an issue in how the device sensors have been programmed for operation rather than a hardware issue.

I don't have any problems with the actual cleaning abilities of this vacuum. I actually think it does a little better job than my previous UV vacuum and it does not get stuck in small places as much as it is a little bit wider. However, a lot of the features make it not user friendly. Well you can control it from the app, there is no way to send out a signal for the vacuum to tell you where it is. This is frustrating when it gets stuck or runs out of battery somewhere and you end up having to search an entire floor of your house and looking under beds and chairs to find it. Along those lines, rather than going back to the doc, it will randomly die in a room and you'll be stuck trying to find it. The app will let you send it home if they're still battery, but it's ... MoreI don't have any problems with the actual cleaning abilities of this vacuum. If the vacuum is on another floor and you want to do any controls, you will have to go to it take it to the dock, and then let it reset itself before taking it back to the other floor and starting things over. The only thing you can do to interrupt a job from the app is send it home, but if it's not accessible to the doc, then you have no way of changing things up. Finally, I noticed that it really scuffs up the baseboards more than my previous robot vacuum. I added some furniture pads to the sensor that's supposed to tell it that it's running into something and that has helped, but I have little black marks all over my baseboards from the vacuum before that.

It’s a terrible product. First of all charging - it can never dock properly. Docking it manually takes a few tries as it needs to be in the exact spot. So docking station is useless but there is no way to just plug a cable to charge it. Multiple times it looked like it was charging and then when I need to use it, it turns out the battery is dead and so I need to wait 3 hours for it to charge. Vacuuming is also poor. There are always spots that haven’t been cleaned, moreover it damages furniture - all table and chair legs are chipped where the Roomba hits them. Also it gets stuck all the time even as it approaches the stairs it won’t just back up, it will stop and you need to move it to a new location. Most of the issues get worse with time too. This is my second 600 series. The first lasted 12 years. I replaced the dust bin, brush and wheel modules, battery and the bottom plate 2-3 times with parts bought on line. You can even buy new “tires” to replace the wheel covers when they wear down. I do a cleaning of the visible parts once a month and a more thorough cleaning a few times a year. Roombas can be finicky and you have to take good care of them. I have only hard floors and the 600 series has worked well for me in picking up desert dust, pebbles and chihuahua hair. I’ve had many different Roomba models over 20 years and found them to be short lived. The 600 series has been the most reliable for me. In some ways a regular vacuum is easier but I like Roombas because I can run it while I’m doing other things.

Great to Start with, not good to keep for a while

At first, I was happy with the product. I would be gone for 11+ hours a day for work and didn't have time to keep up with sweeping, especially with two cats. I got it on a whim since it was on sale at Target and thought "Why not?". The first couple months, I was happy with coming home and having the floors be pretty well taken care of. As time has gone on and I was able to be home a little more often, I started to notice that the Roomba just vacuum over the same spots over and over again, get stuck in the same corner of the living room, and get stuck on "cliffs" which was just the edge of the carpet to the vinyl flooring. It would spend almost a majority of its time spinning in circles and going over the same spots for the entire duration. And then, when it would ... MoreAt first, I was happy with the product. And then, when it would try and dock itself, it'll continue to go over the same spots IT WAS JUST GOING OVER for the last 45 minutes and not dock itself. After about 20 minutes of trying to dock itself, I've just gotten to the point where I just physically place it back in front of the dock to have it turn off. I do like the amount of hair it can pick up in one session, but for the amount of times I need to physically move it during that session to go over a different area, it doesn't seem worth it to me. For the space I have, it's just not the product for me.

Like giving a dementia patient a vacuum

This is the most bare bones possible roomba you could imagine. It vacuums and moves around on its own, but the trajectories it chooses for itself seem to be completely random. It has no mapping capabilities (which is expected given the low price point), so expect to run it and have it completely ignore entire rooms (despite a lack of obstacles) simply because it wasn't in the cards. Also because of this lack of mapping, it is also a complete random chance that it will be able to make it back to its charging base. If it doesn't happen to mosey by the base during its random wandering, it will just never make it home at all. Furthermore, the vacuum itself is very weak. Expect to use this for daily light-duty cleaning, not for tougher weekly jobs.

Not a miracle worker

I am a heavy crafter of many mediums so I thought it would be handy to have a little friend to take care of cleanup every day to vacuum up paper scraps, thread, dirt, and other mess from my carpet. While he’s certainly earned his welcome in a lot of ways, this is no replacement for a manual vacuum. SUCTION: my main concern was if a vacuum this small could pack the punch of my excellent manual vacuum. I will say it’s very impressive, with such intense suction that you can see the trails through the carpet and there is significant dust in the waste container afterwards. Pretty good win in my books. Not so great with thread on carpet, it tends to roll over it a few times before it grabs it, but eventually finishes the job. Not so great with thread on carpet, it tends to roll over it a few times before it grabs it, but eventually finishes the job. TERRAIN: it crosses thresholds but barely gets over my rugs. My rugs have NO shag, they have a shorter shag than my carpet even. My kitchen mat he climbs over but then just drags around the kitchen, my bath mats he cannot climb he will freeze and deliver an error message, and my living room carpet he won’t vacuum because there is a very slight bubbling from the weight of my coffee table and he assumes it’s an obstacle in the floor and will go the other way. I am stuck manually vacuuming this one area. APP: the app is helpful if you care about scheduling, viewing battery and product life, viewing how long he’s been vacuuming, and pausing jobs from your phone, but you can absolutely do without it. I turn him on from his center button and he gets to work. There is no room mapping in this model so you cannot indicate his cleaning pattern, so I just block off doorways with shoes or chairs if I don’t want certain areas vacuumed. You can also start the vacuum remotely, so if you’re at work, start him up from your desk. TIME: it takes an hour to do a job I do with my manual in 8 minutes, so ultimately subjective on if it’s a timesaver. Being able to start it at work so you have one chore off your plate when you get home? Yes. Starting him on your filthy carpet when your guests are arriving in 15 minutes? No. Overall great for the sale price as long as I get a good lifespan out of it, but given I still have to take out my manual vacuum to take care of areas he can’t maneuver, it’s not a lifesaver. He can cross carpet-to-barefloor thresholds but not mild carpet bubbling and that’s a rather large handicap.

Slightly Disappointed

I figured my house would be quickly swept up everytime I left the house and I wouldn't have to worry about anything at all. Turns out, the Roomba cannot go from our hardwood floor to an area rug without getting "stuck." If the rug is even slightly too high for it, then it won't bother and then turn around. It also gets "stuck" when going under chairs, especially our dining room table and chair set. It basically gets itself under the dining room table just fine, but then the chairs have so many legs, it can't find its way out. So it will circle under the table until you pull it out. It does this everytime, even if I try to move the chairs out of the way. I basically have to babysit it while it cleans. Another thing that I don't like is that there is an obvious spot that needs to be vacuumed, but the Roomba hasn't gotten to it after an hour of cleaning the same spots that it has already been to. Lastly, after coming home sometimes, I realize that it has not docked itself properly and it died trying to plug itself back in again. So when it is time for my next clean, I realize it is dead. It is very finnicky when getting it to charge. If it is not docked perfectly in the exact spot, then it wont work. I think I would rather just vacuum my home myself in a much shorter amount of time. I think this could be helpful for a lot of people, but not for me.

This product is awesome. Love the bluetooth, auto home, and programmable features. My dogs arch nemesis is the vacuum cleaner and he doesn’t mind this thing so that’s an added plus. The dog is 100 pounds and grabs and carries away the vacuum. We actually have three dogs and this picks up the dog hair wonderfully. I can run my high end name brand vacuum slowly and still pick up things with this robot afterwards. The sensors are sensitive so dump it often. If they become blocked a little research helps. If out of warranty YouTube replacing sensors yourself. It’s pretty cheap and looks simple.
