3rd Roomba; best yet but now hair tangling in extractors

I hardly ever use my heavy upright vacuum now that I have this Roomba. However, I have to replace the extractors about every 3 months! I have a Springer Spaniel who sheds alot, I clean the bin and the extractors every time the Roomba needs charging. Her hair gets tangled inside the extractors and after 2 months, I have to use some force to get the end piece out so I can clean out the hair. I order my last new extractors only 3 months ago, and the yellow end piece is now stuck. This is frustrating!

I owned very early Roomba models. The 900 series is an incredible improvement on every level. Love being able to start via the phone app when I leave the house and forget. My house has 80% less dust and my actual cleaning chores are minimal now. Every day I come home and it looks like the housekeeper just left. The unit is a bit noisy but the boost on vacuum power for carpets is worth it. I tried a lower series to save money but returned it and got this one. Well worth it! Unit is easy to clean and maintain too. The ability for it to charge and return to finish the job is incredible and a "must have" feature. I can't wait to see the next improvements they make!!

I love this product and cannot imagine life without it. I have a pet and 3 small grandchildren but I just turn Cindy loose and she takes care of my house much better than I ever have. So convenient. Just have to keep an eye on her bin because it fills up rapidly. I bought Cindy in place of hiring housekeepers every two weeks. She paid for herself in two months. I also bought the little floor mopper and am considering getting the one that mops larger spaces.I am just purchasing a new set of roller extractors after a year. Long hair is a problem so I check the rollers frequently, take them out and clean off the ends where thread and hairs tend to wrap. I try to do the maintenance as recommended. Very easy to do. I use my little dustbuster to clean the filter often so ... MoreI love this product and cannot imagine life without it. Good product

I've been using Roombas for about 12 years, since I first heard about them on Oprah's give-away show. The rubber extractors work much better than earlier systems did. People who offer complaints here say the extractors wear out in a year, but they have not read the directions, which say to change them out every 6 months! Yes, they are expensive, but the knock-offs simply don't do the job. If you can afford a $500+ machine, $30 shouldn't be too much of a hardship to replace the rollers. I have mostly hard-surface floors and multiple pets who shed. The Roomba is a lifesaver! I've recommended Roombas to ageing friends who cannot wrestle with the vacuum cleaner like they used to. Great for long hair dogs
12 December 2018

I just love this product . I have a cleaning service and have waited a long time to buy one because I have 4 long haired dogs . I would have to vacuum everyday because of the shedding . In the last year I starting to see more and more of my customers with the robots . So I decided to give it a try . All I can say is WOW why did I wait so long it works great with dog hair . I set it to run at night while a sleep so the dogs have no clue it running then I get up in the morning to a vacuum house 😎😎😎

Good product, although you need to have light for it to navigate. It gets lost or stuck enough to get annoying. It takes about 8 hours including return trips to the charger to clean 1500 square feet. It does Miss spots. Also remember to buy authentic Roomba Dirt extractor replacements. I replaced mine with aftermarket knock-offs and they only lasted 2 weeks before they were worn flat. The original authentic extractors should last at least 6 months. I will give it some credit though since my house is rather maze-like with a lot of obstacles. Overall it does pick up dirt pretty well and I would recommend it. I wish they would come up with a navigation system to where you could run it in a dark room though. Our favorite gadget in the house!
25 March 2017

I absolutely love our Roomba 980. I love how easy it is to get on my phone and through the app figure out what's wrong with it, set the times to clean, turn off when needed and order parts if/when needed and have step by step instructions at my fingertips. We have 3 kids under 7 so throughout the day there are snacks and food dropped in the house. We used to sweep daily plus vacuum when needed and now we wake up to clean floors and it doesn't take time out of my day. We would absolutely buy another one!

Part of the Family
14 January 2018

He is part of the family. I had horrible allergies cause the two dogs were shedding and dust was piling up everywhere. Within a week my allergies have improved immensely! When you first get the vacuum the dust bin will fill very quickly. Now that MarkyMark is cleaning daily/every other day I only clean the bin about every other use. It means my carpets are clean!!! Love this product. Also, so much dust under my bed. Mark takes care of it perfectly and regularly. My suggestion....cordless dyson and the roomba. You'll never need other vacuums.

Performs well but only lasts 2 months at our house
5 January 2019

Using these in a 980. They work well, but I have been through 2 pairs of rollers in ~4 months. Both sets broke in the same place - the yellow plastic side of the dark (front) roller. On the yellow plastic side, there's a pin embedded in the plastic hub of the roller. On one set of rollers, the pin just pulled right out and fell off. On the other, the pin took a bunch of the plastic on the roller hub with it. Seems to me that it's a design issue that should really be fixed. I'd happily pay a few more dollars for one that survived longer than 2 months.

Rosie is worth her weight in gold!
30 July 2018

Well worth the money. It can't do my house in one trip so it goes back to the base, takes a nap and comes back picking up where it left off. While it will eat things left on the floor, it is always easy to clean and untangle things. Rubber extractors are easier to clean and hair does not get stuck like brushes. Rubber is thin, but generic rollers on Ebay are a little thicker but a little noisier. Both work fine. I'm retired and appreciate what a good job this machine does and it is easy to clean! Thank you, Roomba!.
