Do not waste money on this product. The app is so slow it's ridiculous. The robot is constantly unable to connect to the cloud so you can't talk to it through the app to start and schedule cleanings. It is constantly, constantly getting stuck. It will leave the dock and go straight to one of it's favorite sticking spots and not get any cleaning done. There are things that just can't be changed to avoid it getting stuck. Constantly having trouble with stuff bunching up and not emptying into the bin so it continues to try to empty (we have 6 cats, it's a lot of hair!). It is amazingly LOUD when it empties. Constantly not making it back to dock. It would go back to empty, then take off to finish cleaning and run out of battery. Why not charge when you emptied the bin? ... Now, after replacing filters, brushes, etc., it no longer works. I keep getting "error 68" which apparently means it's not communicating through the camera so it cannot clean. The solutions I googled say reboot. I have done this multiple times. Factory reset/Reboot, completely deleting the robot and setting it back to factory settings . Nothing works. Next step is to contact customer support but with all the other complaints I am hesitant to even waste my time. The thing worked less than 6 months but I had over a year so the warranty will be done. Had high hopes for this robot. Not going to waste time with another one from this company after hearing all the complaints about the machines and the customer support. It's too much money to spend on something that won't work from a company that won't stand behind the product.

This is our second purchase of the model i8+ from Costco. One for upstairs (won't fall down the stairs) and one for downstairs. We also own a Dyson Animal upright vacuum which works great. Sometimes life gets too busy and having this i8+ frees up a lot of time. It connects to our Alexa and cellular phones. Before our FIRST use of the Roomba i8+, we manually vacuumed our hardwood floors, rugs, tiles, and medium pile carpeting with our Dyson on all the major areas and crevices of our home. We did this first because we have two large German Shepherds that shed a ton of hair daily. We didn't want an accumulation of dog hair in our i8+ on the first run/mapping. Made sense to us that we did that first. After the mapping is done, it's smooth sailing. We use the i8+ for ... MoreThis is our second purchase of the model i8+ from Costco. Extremely satisfied how it works and learns. Even if our dogs are hanging out in the i8+ pathway, in a short time the i8+ comes back after the dogs move. We like that it self empties. Of course, having big shedding dogs we check the i8+ about once or twice a week making sure the brushes are clear and the filters are good. If we didn't have dogs, I don't think one would have to check it as often. When our dogs blow out their coats twice a year, we use the Dyson as the volume of fur would be too much for the i8+. Unless you don't care to spend on i8+ vacuum bags. Overall, we love it and so happy we purchased two. Instead of vacuuming with an Dyson upright daily, the i8+ does it for us. Giving us more freedom to do other things. And that is priceless. I love that our floors are clean and seeing clean vacuum lines on my carpet is so satisfying. Thanks to the engineers that came up with this amazing piece of technology.

Took a bit of a punt by buying a vacuum for my wife for Christmas, but what an absolute game changer this thing is! I suffer quite badly with cat allergies and we have a cat (I didn't know about allergies before we got him!) which sheds quite a bit as well as a dog who sheds a little. We used to run the vacuum round at least twice a week, but we've set Bob up to do a full run of the downstairs each morning before we get up for work and I've not sneezed for days! It's so quiet that it can vacuum the whole downstairs without either of us knowing about it and Bob is back on his charger and full within an hour of finishing, ready to clean up any breakfast mess. Using the smart electric meter thing to work it out, a full run (which uses 3/4's of the battery) costs about 5p to recharge, so it is pricier than running a conventional vacuum, but worth every penny of the extra £1 or £2 a month. I was a bit worried about being able to get from room to room as we have underfloor heated tiles in one room which raises the height of that floor vs. the rest of the house, but Bob can easily traverse it, despite it being well over the advertised height that he should be able to do - it's just over 2cm tall. The bin needs emptying every other run, it is quite small bit I think the cat hair tends to fill it up more than it would if you didn't have a stupid mop of an animal! Even so, it takes 10 seconds to empty and we have glitteringly clean floors all the time. Could not recommend this highly enough. Had it not been on sale I probably would have thought twice, but should it ever give up, I would be back on the website to get another one without a seconds hesitation.

Great vacuuming assistant - 4.5 stars in our opinion. Have had it now 4 months. Background: mostly one level house with laminate and tile floors, couple of throw rugs. Dining room has table with 6 chairs. Kitchen counter has 3 pedestal stools. When we down sized to this house kept minimal furniture. One border Collie. Roughly 2500 sq ft that we want robot to maintain (excludes stairs and room over garage). Here's our experience: to best use the robot, let it map your house. Then divide house into rooms. Rather than let the robot clean the entire house , clean by specific jobs that include 3-4 rooms so the robot can complete it without having to stop and recharge. To get the best clean in the quickest time, move portable items into rooms not on the cleaning job list. ... MoreGreat vacuuming assistant - 4.5 stars in our opinion. Have had it now 4 months. For example, we move the six dining room chairs to the sunroom. This cuts the cleaning time by about 1/3 as the robot can vacuum straight lines, rather than try to work its way around multiple chair legs. It also ensures that the robot can get under the table completely. We do a similar thing with the sunroom's high top stools. For the pedestal stools in kitchen, we pull them out so the robot can make a pass without trouble under the counter. The robot will climb the smooth base to clean them. For us with the dog, a bag fills in about a month. The robot can't get onto the fireplace hearth or go over the triple sliding glass door track that leads to the sunroom. Nor will it do behind open doors that are flush to walls. So you still need a broom or handheld wand. Buy on sale!
Let me tell you how great this little guy (or girl) is. In the year 2018, I decided to get my self a furry companion. I wont bore with the details on how I named her but her name is Rona. Little did I know, Rona was going to be the dog equivalent of a hurricane except instead of rain and wind, shes a fur and farts. Also, little did I know, there was going to be a world pandemic 2 years later that would take her nickname "Rona season" to a whole new level. But let me tell you, my dog dogs fur could go toe-to-toe with covid on who spreads faster. At this point I may have lost you, but every great story has a detailed set up. With our move into a new home that is immensely larger than our previous studio in the city, we knew we could not keep up with cleaning. In comes Victor, our new iRobot i7 vacuum. After a short issue connecting to our wifi (my fault, not victors), we got this little guy (possibly girl) up and rolling. With in a day, victor new our new floor plan faster than I could mow the front lawn (its really small #colorado). Speaking of colorado, victor has no issue with high altitude contrary to unpopular belief. All in all, victor has saved us from the pain of vacuuming. I set victor up to run in the morning and evening and he (could be a she) is looking skinnier than even. I find my self watching victor vacuum like my old neighbor used to watch me vacuum. Except he was outside looking in. Highly recommend the purchase. You wont regret it.
I have had the Roomba i7+ for about 2 years now. I desperately wanted to love this - to the point of disillusion. But, overall, I am disappointed and feel like I wasted $700. It will pick up dog hair and most debris off of our faux-wood laminate floors. If your house is primarily laminate, this will probably be an acceptable option. On tile (ours is pretty slick porcelain), it leaves quite a bit of debris behind, but sufficiently gets up the dog hair. On area rugs, it only picks up about a third of the dog hair and debris that my traditional vacuum gets. Also, it leaves behind numerous sporadic globs of dog hair that I have to go around picking up. We have a small house. I only use the Roomba for the master and main living areas (roughly 1000 sq ft). Still, it has to stop halfway through to re-charge. This means, the vacuum is running on and off for several hours. Most recent run took 1hr 39min run time with an 1hr 5 min charge time part way through. Forget watching TV or having a conversation with your family. I like that it gets to places like under the king size bed and other furniture much easier than a traditional vacuum. I also like that if I need the floor to simply be cleaner than it currently is, it gets some dirt up. Looking at the run history, I have only used the Roomba about once per month... that averages out to $30 per use...eek. My traditional Shark vacuum that claims to never lose suction... well, has yet to lose suction after 5 years! It is my primary tool for cleaning all of the floors in my house. Overall, this was a waste of money that perhaps would've been better spent on a high-quality cordless stick vacuum. Or maybe, a good replacement for the traditional high-powered corded vacuum just doesn't exist yet.
This is not a pet vacuum. The cleaning pattern does not match normal manual vacuuming practices, it vacuums more like how I would mow a lawn, a single pass unless it is set to a double pass, but this is for all floors. The vacuum works great on hardwood floors and tiled floors in a single pass but not on carpets with shedding pets, there I need at least 4 passes, twice daily. Since two thirds of my floor is hardwood and tile it takes too long to vacuum on the dual pass, it requires several recharges to complete the task. Over the past 2 years i have asked customer support to give the cleaning preferences the ability to be set per room but apparently their executives feel their cleaning experience is best. Over the past 2 years i have asked customer support to give the cleaning preferences the ability to be set per room but apparently their executives feel their cleaning experience is best. The next program issue is that the application allows you to set up cleaning zones and have cleaning zones within those zones but if I add those additional zones to my carpeted areas in a scheduled clean the application ignores those zones if it was covered by a previous clean in the same zone area. So I am left with rolled up dog fur all over my light colored carpet. On the good side this vacuum would preform very well with homes that have no pets or non-shedding pets. However, it would be cool if the executives would take advice from people that have operated a manual vacuum to clean pet fur from carpets. FYI, the dirt sensor can not detect fur. 3 stars for not being a pet vacuum, but advertised as a pet vacuum. Maybe change the pet claim to "Pet vacuum for non-shedding pets".
I had high hopes for this vacuum but it has not performed like I had hoped it would. Even after mapping (which took a very long time to do...5+ hours on a 2100 sq ft home), it still does not have a clue where it is. I can set it to go to a certain room and it gets lost along the way. It will start to vacuum in a straight line then out of no where it will spin and change direction and bump into walls until it turns around again. It will vacuum one spot over and over but will totally miss other areas. They claim that it will work around furniture that has been moved and it will but it will totally throw off where it is supposed to vacuum. I have it set to vacuum a rug, which it has done several times but now all of the sudden it doesn't know where the rug is and vacuums all around it and misses half of the rug. The unit itself bangs furniture so hard that it has actually damaged the legs of a coffee table. I ended up putting felt strips on the sides so it wouldn't damage anything else or leave black marks on my baseboards. On one side it has a spinning brush, a lot of times that little brush will toss crumbs or other debris onto an area that it has already vacuumed. There needs to be a better design there. Overall this vacuum is no where near as smart as they claim and if I weren't past my return window I would have gotten a refund!
Purchased about a year ago to upgrade (I thought) from my 500 series Roomba. I loved my Roomba but got duped by the promise of app control, mapping cleaning areas, better multiple surface cleaning, automatic bin emptying, etc. Here's where tech overshadows the basic purpose. This model's only use is for bare floors. The improved flexible cleaning rollers, rate a poor 1 star on carpets and is a poor excuse for even a carpet sweeper. So far, there is no substitute for a bristle brush for pet hair. No upgrade (or downgrade) of cleaning rollers to brushes for pet hair by IRobot. I loved everything about Roomba including the ease of replacing parts, the battery, and consumables. Did they give up excellent carpet cleaning for flexible surface cleaning? The trade off: save ... The trade off: save 5 minutes of daily use maintenance (cleaning brushes & empty bin) or suffer with poor cleaning rollers to have "auto emptying". My 500 series (that was regulated to the master bedroom) is now back to full-time carpet duty.
Hubby purchased this i7+ for me as a gift (I asked for it) because I wanted to upgrade my 980 series Roomba (which was still working perfectly by the way) specifically for the self emptying bin that has only worked about 6 times in the past year. I cleaned, replaced then cleaned everything good again but to no avail! If I had wanted to empty it manually myself he would have never paid the additional $300+ for the self empty unit to begin with, DuH! I Have emailed & messaged several times through my iRobot app with NO REPLY to date! Researched & found out this is an beyond an ongoing problem that has NOT been resolved yet by iRobot, had I done my research before spending $800+ I would have seen ALL the horrible reviews about this exact same problem! iRobot knows of ... Researched & found out this is an beyond an ongoing problem that has NOT been resolved yet by iRobot, had I done my research before spending $800+ I would have seen ALL the horrible reviews about this exact same problem! iRobot knows of this defect yet will not do a recall to remedy the problem so your just left with a huge charging base then have to manually empty your unit unless you want to purchase another self empty bin for another $300+ only to have the same problem with it also (that's the companies resolution to the problem, pay another $300+) SHAME ON YOU ALL @ iRobot as I'm Not a first time iRobot customer & seriously don't know what happened but your iRobot roomba's are just NOT what they used to be. So I'm leaving this updated review as it seems the only way to get ANY attention to an ongoing defect of this unit! NOT happy & will NEVER recommend your products again!
