I do not recommend this item in the slightest.I understand that you need to fill the fuel cell with butane before use. However, filling up the cell is a pain (could just be user error)After getting the cell fuelled, I attempted to light it. And it took me roughly 20 clicks to get a miniscule flame (with the regulator maxed out)The button is a pain to hold, and the inability to get a flame quickly is disappointing.Buy some cheap blow torch at the front of the stores, instantly better, quick flame, and large flame.

I bought this to make creme brulee with. It's gotten the job done, but it's frustrating. The lock to keep the flame going doesn't work well (it peters out in 10-20 seconds), and so you have to hold down the trigger to keep it going. That gets pretty painful after a minute or so, because the positioning is awkward, and the button is unpleasant. Even holding it down, the flame still dies occasionally. The flame is good (small, but that's what I wanted), the butane doesn't run out too fast, and it's not too hard to light (worse than a typical cigarette lighter, but better than some BBQ lighters I've used in past). It gets the job done. But if you're using a torch more than once in a blue moon, I'd get a better one.

Great little torch, I use it mostly because my disposable butane lighters keep blowing out in the wind.It comes with a canister that is a refillable classic disposable lighter design with the wheel removed. (The older rectangular, slimmer, more boxy type)You can use those style lighters as canisters if you want to remove the wheel. As for the included canister, the first time I tried to add fuel to it, the seal started leaking from the bottom. The torch does have vent holes at the bottom, but the lighter itself was compromised so I now use a disposable canister. This is a perfect little windproof jet lighter other than the fill gasket issue.Turns a regular old lighter into a mighty blue mystic wizard's flame.Maybe consider picking up a few disposable ... MoreGreat little torch, I use it mostly because my disposable butane lighters keep blowing out in the wind.It comes with a canister that is a refillable classic disposable lighter design with the wheel removed. I bought this several years ago and have used it for everything: lighting candles, Tiger Torch, fireworks, etc. It has never failed to light after a few clicks and is so hot that it lights things like candles instantly (especially great for fireworks). I have refilled it from a butane cylinder many times. I continue to be amazed by its usefulness and even more its longevity.
The Micro-Jet is great for a jet lighter purposes. I've used these for years, and recently picked up one again.I use it for burning ropes, lighting wood stove, heating up bolts.I like it better than most jet lighters though. And it's safer to use than a blow torch when needing a tiny hot flame. Its also nice to hold, but kids have a harder time lighting it (which is a good thing)The flame is small, so achieving 1000 degrees plus /or soldering can be done better/quicker with a blow torch. At first i did have some issues:-I find certain angles of lighting the flame will go out. (~25% butane)-Using the flame for a long time, it got very hot, then the it wouldn't light until it cooled down.I found all these problems went away I switched over to higher quality ... MoreThe Micro-Jet is great for a jet lighter purposes. Be careful with the type of butane you use. I was using Calibri and had no problems. Before it ran out l bought a cheaper butane and it started to sputter , then stopped working. I purged the tank, put in Calibri butane. I heard the gas, had spark but would not light up. With the new butane l held open the button and used an external flame to get it started. Slowly the lame came back to life and it works perfect. Do a search for best butane. Cheap butane will block your lighter !!!
I bought this a few weeks ago for a small project. Perfect for what I needed.Except...there's no fuel with it. An empty traditional lighter...and a device it is supposed to be inserted into. Instructions state that it can be refueled. No indication of how to do that or with what. A micro jet torch with no fuel...zero value. Don't buy.
This is my second torch I purchased and so far it does the job. I can't find the first one I had, but it's somewhere in my house, I'll eventually find it. However, the unit I first purchased about a year and half ago actually had butane filled up and was ready to use once you pop in the lighter cell. The new unit I bought today came with an empty fuel cell and it was locked behind the glass lock door. Either some customer replaced it and I was the unlucky customer who bought the micro jet torch without butane in the cell. I'll be returning this because if I spend money on a product, it should be ready to use especially for this type of product. I've not only wasted my day and time to go purchase this item, now I can't even use it or return it since tomorrow is Labor ... MoreThis is my second torch I purchased and so far it does the job. I'm going to now have to take time out, waste my time in line to explain to the CSR to get a refund or exchange.
When I bought this I did not look closely at the packaging. I thought it was a butane torch that came with a "complimentary" cigarette lighter. What it actually is, is a butane torch that RUNS off a cigarette lighter. You literally take apart a lighter and stuff it inside the body of the torch. The lighter it comes with is refillable (comes empty) so it is not really a problem, I just do not see what problem this solves? As a torch it is pretty unenthusiastic. It is difficult and inconsistent to light, does not light if it has been stored in temperatures below +5C, uncomfortable to hold the trigger down for any longer than a few seconds, and the flame is very short/lack luster. Could you light cigarettes with this? Not in strong winds, but yes. Could you solder with ... MoreWhen I bought this I did not look closely at the packaging. Not impressed. Hard to light and when it did ignite couldn't start a small twig to burn. Yes it was dry. Tried burning a piece of cardboard. A magnifying glass would have done as much. Would not recommend.
