Model No 6524 Scale 1/35 Age 14+ This model is the D-Day Normandy 1944 Edition and comes with the Landing Craft, 3 crew figures and 25 U.S infantry figures All you need is some glue, paint and a little patience to build a model of this famous landing craft. The LCVP was actually a modification of the Higgins Industries 'Eureka' boat, and it was the most numerous of WWII's famous Higgins Boats. In Normandy alone, nearly 1,100 of these crafts landed in the American and British sectors! Basically constructed of wood, the LCVP was used in transporting fully armed troops, light vehicles, and other equipment and supplies essential to amphibious operations. Generally armed with two rear-mounted machine guns, it was powered by a 250 HP Hall Scott petrol engine or a 225 HP Gray diesel engine.
