I started of airbrushing using a inexpensive airbrush that always clogged up after a few minutes of use despite the quality of paint I used or how much I thinned down my paint. I purchased the Iwata Neo after reading and watching product reviews and I have to say that I'm real happy with my purchase. The airbrush tares down real quick for cleaning and doesn't have the clogging issue my other brush did. Parts for our are readily available for it at my local hobby store should I ever need to replace something on it. I liked the Iwata so much that I bought the Eclipes for better detail work as well as larger models. I definitely recommend this airbrush to anyone just getting started in the hobby and those with more skills than me recommend it for those on the ... MoreI started of airbrushing using a inexpensive airbrush that always clogged up after a few minutes of use despite the quality of paint I used or how much I thinned down my paint. I have tried the Iwata Eclipse and Patriot Badger, and I own the Neo and the new H&S Ultra. The NEO is my favorite of this group by far. It will go all day with very little required between paint change and very little maintenance required before putting it away. I have not tried different nozzle tips, but I might order up a second one and do just that. I run acrylic primer all the way through contrast and airbrush paints through mine and I do not recall ever having to stop for a plugged tip unlike the others. This is the airbrush I would recommend to anyone, especially for those getting into the hobby.

Thoroughly impressed with my purchase, I needed a replacement for my old entry level airbrush. Very easy to clean, very easy to disassemble and reassemble, being able to eye the needle chamber through the dropper cup has made my life so much easier as that was the main drawback to my previous brush. Would recommend the brush by itself over the full kit price wise.

If youre new to airbrushing, dont settle for a 20$ one that comes with a compressor. I bought one of those kits then had to purchase a new needle and nozzle for another 10$ because it was so cheaply made. When I hooked the Neo up and put paint in it, I immediately could see the difference between a cheap airbrush and something that was a little bit more expensive. Quality is everything in airbrush equipment. Im a firm believer that youre only as good as the tools you work with. A beginner should have a descent airbrush, otherwise your new hobby and experience will probably not be a good one. Neo for Iwata-Medea isnt an actual Iwata. But its good enough to carry the name and in the airbrush community that says a lot. Nice product and highly recommended for beginners.
I have a number of airbrushes, high end and low end, and they all have their quirks and issues. I was looking for a reasonably-priced airbrush to do some medium to fine work on 1/48 scale plastic and this is my first Iwata. Color me impressed. It feeds well, doesn't clog as long as you thin properly and use the correct air pressure for your media (I use acrylics for the most part, thinned to a skim milk consistency, at 12-20 psi), and is very comfortable to hold and maneuver. The double-action trigger is a real joy too, being very precise and easy to control. As an added bonus the set comes with a small and large bowl. Cleanup is easy using the correct thinner for your media, and as with all airbrushed just don't let it sit long enough for paint to dry in the bowl ... MoreI have a number of airbrushes, high end and low end, and they all have their quirks and issues. I am reasonably new to airbrushing but have a lot of experience spraying paint. I was struggling with a cheap Chinese Amazon special and my work was becoming a chore. Reading the reviews before buying and what a difference. I stripped and cleaned the brush before using just in case but I found nothing wrong and all seals were where they should be. I think this would have been great right out the box. The needle wasn’t seated fully but I think that is just a shipping thing to prevent nozzle damage. Maple air brush is a small business and I will definitely be purchasing from them again. My wife wants a detail brush now! I was surprised to find a genuine iwata quick connect added to to the package!! Top notch service!
I got back into modelling after a more than 50 year hiatus and I had never used an airbrush before. Over the past year I purchased three, including a Paasche and a Grex but was not having much luck: blocked needles, blotchy spray etcetera and i couldn't seem to master the dual action. I was about to give up when I saw the Iwata Neo on sale at Sunward so I gave it one more try and was greatly impressed. All of my previous problems disappeared and I am very pleased with the results. I have yet to encounter any blockages and the unit is a breeze to keep clean - no complicated disassembly. I'm thinking of purchasing a second. Many thanks to Angelo and the staff at Sunward for their great service.
Don't be fooled by the "Iwata" name with this airbrush. I bought this AB to replace an ailing old Badger AB I have to do camo schemes and basic painting on my scale model armor kits, and have had nothing but issues since day 1. First off, the needle had a slight warp right out of the box. Paintw would literally spray at a slight angle. Not good. Instead of going through the problema of returning it, I replaced the needle from my local Hobby Lobby. Still have paint spraying issues and it doesn't matter what brand of paint I use; Tamiya,Model Masters, Vallejo Air, Mission Models, this AB still wants to spray at a slight angle. So this time I replaced the 0.35 mm Nozzle. Another $20 on top of the $10 needle I bought for it. For the $69 plus the $30 in replacement parts I've invested in, I could have bought a decent Pasche or Badger airbrush. The Iwata Neo is simply as case of you get what you pay for. It looks like an Iwata and feels like an Iwata but doesn't have the Iwata quality that even their cheapest higher priced airbrush has. Perhaps I've gotten myself a bad Neo and I've talked to other modelers who have this same airbrush and it seems to be a hit and miss with these Iwata Neo airbrushes. So, I'mnow saving up to buy another airbrush to replace this one and will never touch another one of these. Price value is good but isn't always a good thing and the Iwata Neo is perfect example. You've been warned.
This airbrush is one of the best on Market. Feel free to research. The tip I think is .35 mm. That's very small and you can't spray flakes or thick paint. Its also imperative to keep it clean and I do mean clean and oiled. You learn how to reduce paint and properly caring for it and you'll get many years of service
im a 50 year old artist whos owned pasche badger point zero master airbrush to name a few.Just got done laying down paint for the second time with this brush.I adjusted the air pressure from 18psi to 15psi according to my regulator using my vallejo mettalic acrylic that has been thinned a little and with a drop of flow improver. wow even with no stop needle limiter this brush finely atomized the paint gor me from a large paint pattern to a fine line thanks to the smooth and precise trigger. could never get these results with the point zero or master airbrush.Even if this unit is made in china the prescission is there not like the point zeros or master airbrushes. i might suggest not running real long paint sessions without periodic cleaning just to keep it running ... Moreim a 50 year old artist whos owned pasche badger point zero master airbrush to name a few.Just got done laying down paint for the second time with this brush.I adjusted the air pressure from 18psi to 15psi according to my regulator using my vallejo mettalic acrylic that has been thinned a little and with a drop of flow improver. wow even with no stop needle limiter this brush finely atomized the paint gor me from a large paint pattern to a fine line thanks to the smooth and precise trigger. could never get these results with the point zero or master airbrush.Even if this unit is made in china the prescission is there not like the point zeros or master airbrushes. i might suggest not running real long paint sessions without periodic cleaning just to keep it running flawlessly.Iwata recomends only removing the nozzle when necasary. ive read reveiws where people have run into problems but that shouldnt be a problem. This brush comes with a 5 year warranty. Just get into the habbit of thouroghly ceaning it every time you clean it and you should have no problems.
