We already had other knives in this collection, so this is a nice edition. The knife arrived very sharp, so no need to sharpen initially. I like the weight and grip when holding and using. For an everyday knife I prefer the 8", but if you need variety or just prefer smaller knives then this is a good size.I do think the price is steep, but our other "classic" knives are around 10 years old, so this should last too.

I have worked with the very best of the best since I am 19 years old. I have worked from NY to Aspen Los Angeles and have 3 James Beard winners on my resume. I have used J.A. Henkels Wusthof my entire career. So have 95% or more of my colleagues. I do happen to also love Japanese Carbon Steel knives but unless you are working in a sushi kitchen, these knives are simply not practical and will never stand up to Henkels. Sure I get the trend, but the trend will fade as many others have over the years and will always return to a Henkels once your tip is broken or you get tired of endlessly sharpening your blade. Henkels has an amazing blade that holds an edge like no others the blade is versatile and has never chipped or broken This is the perfect knife that will last ... MoreI have worked with the very best of the best since I am 19 years old. Excellent quality knives! Received my first set as a Christmas gift and have never purchased another brand since. Warranty is also amazing. Henckels really stands by their products. This new knife is a new addition to my collection. Love it!

I have owned several other J.A. Henckels knives, including a cheaper Premio version of this knife and the 8" version. I have been very happy with all of them until now. I was disappointed when I opened this knife. The handle on one side was too small and that left a sharp edge along the tangos the top of the handle. The back of the blade also has sharp edges. Where the blade flares out to meet the handle there are grinder marks. Poor quality assembly overall. I have contacted the manufacturer and will be returning this knife.
I bought this to replace a 6 inch knife that came in my set that had cracked. I could have sent it off to Zwilling for replacement, but being 40 years old, I don't have the receipt. This one was cheaper version but made in Spain not China. It is very sharp and my go to knife.
This 6 inch blade is perfect for my small hands. Love having a Chef's knife that is comfortable, and not overwhelmingly large. Finally have the confidence to mince, chop, slice and dice without worrying that I will cut myself. The smaller blade gives me so much more control which is just what I was looking for.The price is also amazing. The high carbon German steel is fabulous, and the fact that is manufactured in Spain makes it very affordable. Really happy with this purchase.
Neither my husband or myself are professional chefs, but we cook daily for our family and entertain frequently. I bought my husband his first Henckels knife 15 years ago, 10” classic chefsknife and we still use it daily. It has held up beautifully through the years, never an issue or problem. Handle is still as strong and the knife just as sturdy as the first time he used it. He sharpens by hand before each use. Recently purchased the 6” chefs knife and expect the same life! Wouldn’t use any other knives to prepare food in our kitchen and have recently bought our son his first Hanckels knife! Top notch!
I've had Henckels Classic knives for more than 20 years. They have made many great meals. The 6-inch chef's knife is a great place to start owning the line. It will do most of the chopping, dicing, and mincing work in the kitchen. Add a paring knife and bread knife, and 99% of your basic cooking needs are met. These are forged knives made of quality German steel. They sharpen up nicely. Great value.
I absolutely love that this line has the 6-inch chef’s knife. It’s always great to have the big 8-inch knife for large items, but for short people with small hands, it’s way easier to stand at a counter and have a small option. Plus the knifes are wonderfully made, very sharp and strong. Would highly recommend this model and especially this 6-inch knife!
Nice knife, very sharp. I'm knocking it down a star because in my hands (I think I have average-sized woman hands), the handle is on the thinner side so it is difficult to get a comfortable grip. It doesn't exactly cut into my palm, but it doesn't have that soft feel like my old Cuisinart knife of comparable size. It's also much lighter than that knife so I was suspicious of it's durability, but it actually has held up nicely.
