This guitar is a great purchase. It covers all the bases if you are a beginner as is right out of the box. It's fine for seasoned players because it's a fantastic foundation for upgrades which honestly are not that necessary. Like any guitar in this price range a proper set up is needed but this alone gives you an awesome guitar to begin with.

I was looking for a shredder to start picking up some faster solo playing and play along to Metallica style metal. This looked to fit the bill perfectly and overall very pleased with the guitar. It did arrive with two neck pocket cracks (cosmetic) which is fairly common I guess in this type of painted finish. Trem took a bit of fiddling with as I switched up to Regular Gauge strings, but once sorted it has been fine dive bombing etc.If you are looking for an 80/90's style shredder and not put off with bright colour schemes then get one!

I got the green one and it really stands out! Plays smooth and was set up well straight out of the box. Humbucker is hot and cuts through well. The single coils are a bit thin sounding but acceptable. Two little issues with it; 1) p/u switch is a bit twitchy in the neck position and 2) back electronics panel is slightly warped/not resting flat. Otherwise, would have been a 5-star review. Nice axe for the mid 500s price!

Plays great right out of the box. Action is really nice. The single coil pickups have a nice strat sound. Humbucker sounds amazing.
If you are looking for a nostalgic trip back to the 80s, look no further. The guitar looks fantastic and with the reverse headstock, it just screams 80s rock. Build quality is fantastic at this price. The set up was also excellent. Action and internation were spot on, with no fret buzz or dead notes. Fine tuners on the floyd were very smooth. Pick ups are pretty good. Now for the best part, the neck. It is so comfortable and supper quick. The binding and fret work was also excellent. We'll worth the money.
I'd like to give the DK3XR a detailed review. I own 3 of them, and their awesome, but I've purchased 5 (two returned). Here's the point: These are a fantastic guitar, and when you find a good one, they are comparable to guitars worth far beyond this price. Why? The necks have an amazing feel - exceptionally quick and easy to play with the satin coats. The body is fairly heavy but small (DK's are 7/8 of standard Strat sizes) - resonates great, plus they look fabulous. And the locking trees keep them in tune great. But, why did I return two - quality control is inconsistent with these. If you get a good one, they're unbeatable for the price, so much so that they compare with models triple the cost. But, minor cosmetic issues seem to be frequent with these, so you want to look it over closely; why not get a good one rather than settle with one with a minor blem? Here's the better story: The first one of these I got was the green; looked awesome, but the scarf joint was really poorly done - could feel the ridge where laminated. So I took it for exchange for another. The second I checked was even worse (also could feel ridge on the scarf joint), but that one also had really spotted woodgrain for the neck. On to the third, no issues with the scarf, but, again, ugly grain on neck. Then we (in store) opened a fourth box (blue), and the one that came out of that was not only flawless, but the flame-look to the grain on the neck is absolutely gorgeous. So, it took me four tries to get a good one, but that good one is beyond good; it's awesome! As for the other 2 I own (black and second blue one), those came online, and both were issue-free, albeit not quite as gorgeous woodgrain as the first. So, I don't know what it is about the quality control with these. When you get a good one, they're awesome guitars that play and feel amazing. But, cosmetic appearance issues do seem common with them; you just need to be careful which one you pick.
After having a bad experience with a 7 string jackson (just didnt like it at all for it being literally twice the price of this guitar), this really gave me a positive look on the brand again. The neck is very fast and feels like a satin finish. The pickups are good for chugging which is surprising since they're in-house pickups but theyre also great for all styles it seems (though Im not picky as I play all things from Van Halen to Revocation, with Revocation being more my style 95% of the time). The floyd was easy to set up after watching a handful of videos but I want to mention I have ordered a new trem block, an original floyd whammy bar and an extra spring as this is a floyd special afterall so the parts arent super high quality. LOVE the look of this guitar. ... MoreAfter having a bad experience with a 7 string jackson (just didnt like it at all for it being literally twice the price of this guitar), this really gave me a positive look on the brand again. LOVE the look of this guitar. Its way better looking in person than in pictures. Havent had any complaints about it at all. The reverse headstock is badass too. For $ Im impressed by how well this guitar playsFor reference I currently also own a PRS holcomb, a KM7 and an Ibanez iron label. This jackson actually has elements from each of these guitars that I like. Very shocked at even the fact that there's even a scarf joint in the neck for this price point. Definitely worth the money
I bought this guitar because of the Floyd Rose, pickup configuration, and aesthetic. Just wanted something to play 80's rock on. I have enjoyed playing this guitar unplugged. Haven't really played it plugged in because the 1/4" jack is too tight and spits the cable right back out. Not sure what's wrong with it because I've never run into this particular problem before. Other than that, the craftsmanship seems pretty nice for the price point. Fret edges were clean and smooth. Neck feels nice. Can't tell how hot the pickups are. Hope my review helps you.
I love Jackson guitars, and I have several, by the grace of God. However, they have gotten way overpriced the last few years, and so I don't generally buy them anymore, unless I find one on sale, like I did this one. It is overall a great guitar! It was perfectly set up out of the box, and all I had to do was tune it up and screw the tremolo bar in, and go. Jumbo frets, perfectly level, beautiful fretboard, beautiful finish, and the Jackson branded Floyd Rose tremolo works great for me. It stays in tune perfectly, flutters, bends, and dive bombs, all very smooth and performs great. The only drawback about this guitar for me is the pickups...they are ok for a $250-300 JS32 model, but certainly not adequate for a guitar that retails for $600. But since I got it for much less used, I am not complaining. I have a set of Dragonfire pickups on the way to replace them with - a phat screamer in the bridge, and 2 hot rails humbuckers for the middle and neck. THEN, it is going to be a screamer indeed...! Overall, a great guitar, but definitely not worth $600, especially considering that you will probably wind up spending at least another $100 on a pickup upgrade. I hope this helps someone out there.
Needed a slight tweak to the truss rod to add a little neck relief but i didn't do this for about a week as i was too busy playing it as it was, which says a lot about the playability right out of the box. The tone and particularly the resonance suggest a much higher price level guitar. Finish is superb, frets perfect and trem stays in tune nicely.
