Jansport Big Studen backpack is my son’s new bag for the school year 24-25. I just can’t believe he’s almost a teenager. The first time that I have my Jansport bagbis 1996 during Hs days. We bought this backpack from Target, pastel blue dask color which is perfect. Just the right amount of size for my fifth grade. Got a lot pockets tomorganize my sons school supplies. If it is Jansport ofcourse it is durable, washable which is good and willmlast long.

10 Years of school, just 2 backpacks!

We bought my first handout backpack when I was in kindergarten after my first backpack's zipper broke. I chose a rainbow tie dye Big Student that lasted me until started 5th grade, when we sent it in for a checkup before school and they sent it back unrepairable. I was pretty sad, but I quickly found a new Big Student that I have used ever since. The size was perfect, it could hold everything I needed, including my lunchbox, water bottle, computer, binder, music folders, notebooks, and other items. I love the top pocket's easy reach for my pencils, pens and other items I constantly use. My only problem is the mesh, especially the water bottle pocket, which broke after about 2 years when I was in 7th grade. After the bottom of my bottle got smashed over time this year, I decided it was time for a new pack. Currently I'm deciding between the big and cool student, which has everything I want for durability, but lacks a dedicated laptop sleeve, which I am reluctant to abandon because of how useful it has been in junior high. Now I'm about to be in 10th grade, and I'm sure that whatever I get should last me through college, as long as I don't snag any mesh too much (I think it's fair to blame myself for the mesh, I think it started in 5th grade, finally broke all the way in 7th). Anyways, I highly recommend this product for students regardless of age, (it looked huge on me in kindergarten because I'm tiny and still does because I'm the size of a 6th grader) it's a great pack that lasts, and works to hold everything you need. It's worked for me in 10 years of school - I imagine it will continue to do so regardless of which pack I choose. Thank you Jansport for making such an amazing, high quality product despite the decline of quality throughout industries! I will always stick with you guys for my backpacks, and always recommend yours to others!

Ain't What It Used To Be

Jansport, since I can remember, has been THE go-to for backpacks. The first one my son had only had to be replaced because he needed a bigger size after using his Jansport from K-5. Then we bought him the Big Student for middle school. But something happened with quality control over at Jansport. For the past 3 years, I have had to purchase a new backpack every school year. At first it was because the cheap net water pocket would tear apart. But this year- the backpack didn't even last the school year. The straps are ripped, interior falling apart and the water bottle pocket is holding on by a thread. I. Am. Done. The name Jansport used to be synonymous with quality. Used to be. Backpack fine, shipping awful

This backpack is fine, the zipper feels pretty flimsy and not quality and the fabric is a little thin. It will probably last 2 years with regular use. However, the main issue with this purchase is the terrible shipping. I only ordered this backpack because its promised delivery was in time for the start of school. However, the backpack wasn't shipped until the day it was promised to be delivered. It arrived a week after its promised delivery with no shipping updates at all. It is unreasonable to provide this poor level of service.

Fell apart in 2 weeks

Didn’t last a single school year. Almost immediately the water bottle pouch tore away from the bag. The materials feel incredibly cheap, especially compared to older versions. The inside of the backpack is inexplicably WHITE, so the bag looks filthy after a few days and you can’t wash it. I reached out to JanSport because they claim to have a lifetime warranty. They described the ripped pouches on the side as “ normal wear and tear “ even though it ripped within the first 10 days of use. The JanSport we bought our son also fell apart, with similar issues ( plus zipper issues) within the first few weeks. This isn’t the backpack company it once was. Time to find a quality one!

I bought three of these book bags and they've all torn where

I am now brought three of these book bags, and on all three the pocket holder for the water bottles has broken. And when calling to try to get the book bag replaced, I was told that I needed to send the book bag to them me paying out of my own pocket for them to see if they can fix it or replace it, but it would take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks so my child would have no book bag for 2 to 3 weeks which is kind of impossible when he needs it and she needs hers. I have two children that have the same book bag and the water pocket broke on both them. How are they supposed to go to school with no book bag? this makes me really disappointed and angry. I still have my transport from high school. It's sad how poor quality they are now and how they handle their customer service.

My Son Is Happy

I bought this Big Student bookbag for my high school sophomore. He was adamant about the Jansport brand and knew right away he wanted Jansport when I told him to pick out a new bookbag. As he said, Jansport is known as "THE bookbag brand." It has two deep main compartments for folders, notebooks, chromebook, binders, text books, etc. Then some smaller compartments for calculator, writing utensils, ear buds, etc. It also has a nice large mesh side pocket that fits a big water bottle. My son is happy with it so far after 1 week of use.As a mom, I have a couple things I noticed and wish were better:1) it has sort of square corners at the top, so while you pull a zipper up to close the compartment you cannot make one smooth pull up & over to the top middle of the ... MoreI bought this Big Student bookbag for my high school sophomore. So I wish the top was more rounded so you could pull the zipper all the way up and over with one hand in one smooth motion.2) I wish there was a strap or somethig on the front of the bag for clipping his lunch box. Right now, the lunch box goes inside one of the two large main compartments and fits fine there. However, if teachers pass out more text books that take up space, then where will the lunch box fit? Lunch box could clip onto the bookbag handle, but then it's flopping side to side or is in the way of accessing comparments, so ideally it could clip a little lower down. Last year, with his old bookbag, the lunch box clipped onto and hung from the outside front of the bookbag. So I wonder how that may play out in the future.

The Best Big Backpack!

This is the best backpack ever! I never write reviews, but I saw the cute strawberry one for sale again and thought others should know how great it is! It’s huge, with so many different sections, and holds everything. The straps are well-padded so even when it’s weighed down, it’s easy to carry all day. And it stays miraculously clean - I use it to carry my kid’s supplies to baseball games and to theme parks, and it dusts off clean every time. If a big, sturdy backpack is what you’re looking for, this is the one!

Water bottle pocket needs redesign.

I had my reservations about the water bottle mesh pocket when I bought this bag for my high schooler but I thought I would give it a chance since the pack itself is exactly what we were looking for. It took only two months of use to prove me right. The bottom of the mesh pocket is not reinforced in any way-just folded over and sewn down. It was never going to last very long. There is now a hole in the bottom of the pocket and it no longer holds a water bottle. I am not even going to send it in to be repaired since I'm assuming they will just sew it down again and it will just break again. The rest if the bag is fine.
