I bought this speaker 2 years ago for $300. It was a large purchase and I expected the product to last at least 5 years. After 2 years the charger stopped working so I bought a new one. The new charger also didn't work so it's something wrong with the speaker itself. I called customer service and it's conveniently after the 1 year warranty. Total crap. They offered me 35% off a new one, which is now selling for $400, 30% more than what I paid for mine. Terrible customer service. Will never by a JBL product again.

I bought this product yesterday and am already considering returning it. Don’t believe the hype ! Loudest boombox ever - that’s not a great advertisement for your other products if that’s the best you can do.The passive areas at the ends of the unit are visually impressive jumping around during playback but the ooompfh isn’t there, sure some tracks are better Swedish house mafia flac / alac is one of the better sounding compilations but interestingly Avicii Levels was only mediocre both flac and alac. I’m no audiophile but I like my music loud but the device was tepid at best, some tracks were ok but not outstanding. Muddy sounding, mediocre volume device would be a better description. So I don’t expect to have to use audio editing to change mid range and treble ... MoreI bought this product yesterday and am already considering returning it. Don’t believe the hype ! So I don’t expect to have to use audio editing to change mid range and treble and normalise tracks just to get a good sound out of a device .... but looks like a doctored playlist would help, shame there’s no graphic equaliser. There’s no clipping on my tracks and they’re of good lossless quality - they play extremely well through my raspberry pi DAC but fail miserably on this device. The portability is better than the party box series but the volume is poor, my car bulk standard stereo is comparable ! I tried both the indoor and outdoor feature, it simply adds medium treble and bass orremoves it. Great that it can be used outside and is waterproof. I own a Bose minilink which to be honest gives this device a run for its money and is way less expensive, volume wise I would say is only a shade quieter and about 1/10th the size. ( I don’t have any affiliation with Bose - just stating for comparison) So do I return it and pay the extra for the party box 300 ? Don’t like the size and portability restrictions, so probably not. Looks like I’m forced to remaster my favourite tracks to get the best out of the device. But as per my opening statement, disappointed at this price point for the volume achieved both when on mains supply or battery mode.As the old school reports use to say, if they only applied themselvesto the subject matter they would do much better, they have the knowledge but don’t apply themselves, must try harder. A poor attempt at a portable ‘loud’ speaker.

I recently purchased these speakers and I am genuinely impressed by their sound quality. The audio output is crisp, clear, and boasts an excellent balance of bass and treble. The design is sleek and modern, making it a great addition to my home entertainment system. However, I encountered an issue when connecting the speakers in party mode. The pairing process itself is quite simple, but I noticed a recurring glitch that has hampered my experience. Every time I use party mode, I have to perform a factory reset almost immediately afterward to restore normal functionality. This issue is frustrating, especially considering the high-quality audio performance these speakers deliver. I hope the manufacturer addresses this problem in a future update, as it would make ... MoreI recently purchased these speakers and I am genuinely impressed by their sound quality. Words don't exist to describe how this thing throws sound. It is ridiculously loud. The sound quality is above excellent. The fact that it's waterproof makes it so much better. The bass is tremendous and I mean tremendous. The battery lasted my entire camping trip. Looks good sounds good works good. Stop reading this review and go ahead and buy it. You won't be disappointed
I've favored JBL since owning its famous 4312 and L100t home speakers. Sure, the company has changed hands a couple of times since those days, but new owners have tried to stick to that 'JBL' sound. Still, I was concerned about this unit. Waited and waited. Wondered if it would even be released since promotional videos arrived months before it went on sale. Finally got it and was unimpressed. Honestly thought my Xtreme 3 delivered the same level of sound, including bass. But I upgraded the firmware to 3.0 and it came alive. Cleaner, smoother, bassier sound. I'd seen videos where some said upgrading to 3.0 made a difference but doubted it. Now I'm a believer. As with most speakers, the sound is fuller if sat diagonally in a corner and it also seems to do better when ... MoreI've favored JBL since owning its famous 4312 and L100t home speakers. As with most speakers, the sound is fuller if sat diagonally in a corner and it also seems to do better when not sitting directly in front of you. There's a lot of competition but I think the BB3 is class leading.
Pros: I love the deep rich sound and powerful bass, this speaker has plenty in reserve. Sturdy construction. Great portable party animal that's so easy to connect to, smart phone with Bluetooth and your in business. Massive battery life span, think it's 24 hours. Have used this speaker plenty since buying it in December 22 and have really enjoyed it.Cons: Musical instruments sound great but voice quality could be improved a bit though this wouldn't stop me from buying this speaker.
Pros: Feels premium, great outdoors, excessive deep bass if that's for you. Will definitely sound impressive if you dont have too many reference points.Cons: Eclipsed by the Charge 5 in terms of sound clarity. If you're even slightly concerned about a noise complaint, save your money. The bass reverberates in medium sized rooms and can be irritating. JBL dropped the price £15 lower soon after buying, with a 20% student discount.
Pros: Great sounding speaker I'm an audiophile and this ticks all the boxes for garden use etc, bass is great battery life is great. The sound is the best I have ever heard from a Bluetooth speaker! almost jaw dropping for its size, it would fill or drown most average size gardens with music and bass with no issues, the carry handle is great it feels sturdy and well built, its a little powerhouse for sure.Cons: If it was slightly cheaper anything (roughly) under £350. There are better brands anything higher than that (rough) price point. It is rather large and heavy! its not the sort of thing you would casually take around on holiday and pack in a suitcase, or short trips away. Its far too big for that!Sometimes at max volumes the bass can subside slightly and Mids ... MorePros: Great sounding speaker I'm an audiophile and this ticks all the boxes for garden use etc, bass is great battery life is great. I’ve had my JBL Boombox 2 for just over one year. The battery will no longer charge to its full capacity. I’ve used two different Boombox 2 chargers and left it plugged in for a day and the charge indicator light won’t move past halfway. It works, but the battery life is obviously significantly diminished.I’ve tried a factory reset with no improvement. I contacted customer support and was advised that I’d need to take it to a repair shop for a replacement battery since the one year warranty has expired.I received it as a gift so I don’t have the receipt. I was told the battery is expected to last 500-5000 charge cycles. I don’t use or charge the speaker on a daily basis, so I haven’t come close to to those numbers.Pretty disappointing for a JBL product.
Best truly portable speaker money can buy! Loud, amazing sound quality, and actually water proof! I literally threw it in a river at a friend that was in a float. He freaked out and then he realized it was what proof. Oh yeah it also floats. Can't say enough about this speaker. This is the second one ive owned, only because I upgraded from the first gen. My father has that one now. Do yourself a favor and stop comparing. This is the king!
