Purchased this for my teen’s 15th birthday. That teen is now almost nineteen-years-old and still using it daily (I borrow it occasionally, also). It was well worth the price. Most importantly, the sound is fantastic! It also connects to our various brands of devices very easily and quickly. In addition to its daily use around the house, it has also been used on the (hot) pool deck, in the bathroom during steamy showers, and taken on trips. The battery life is good and the speaker is not too big or heavy to move from place to place. Through all of the above it has never malfunctioned in the least. I actually have three of these because I love it so much. My wife bought me the flip for more portability but I gave it to a friend because I prefer this one. I keep one in my room, one in the bathroom one in my garage that I throw in my backpack when I go on a hike or put in my son's car that doesn't have Bluetooth. The sound quality is wonderful, I have never had a problem with the battery dying on me (they last so long), of course it is a Bluetooth speaker so you can pretty much play it anywhere that you have access to your phone. And the fact that it's waterproof and rugged is what I love most because I tend to be pretty rough with my stuff and when I go to the lake or it's raining outside but I feel like grilling I don't have to worry because the party is ... MoreI actually have three of these because I love it so much. Weight just over two pounds. It’s not small enough that you can easilly put it in a purse or backpack and cary it around, but it’s not so big that you can’t move it if you really want to. Buttons on device are easily accessible, sitting along the top of the device in a row, with the Power and Bluetooth buttons easilly visible. It’s worth noting that on some JBL devices the Pkay button can be configured to access your Siri or Google voice assistant. You can not do this on the Charge 4, where the Play/ Pause button is just that— a play/pause button. You can not do this on the Charge 4, where the Play/ Pause button is just that— a play/pause button. The JBL Charge 4 offers slightly better power output than previous incarnations of the JBL Charge, with a rated power of 30 Watts RMS. Additionally, the device uses USB Type C for charging, can achieve a full charge in 4 hours, and offer 20 hours of playtime on a full charge. The charge time and playback are similar to what was offered on the JBL Charge 3, so there isn’t much of a benefit there, but those numbers are roughly twice as good as the JBL FLip 4. If you are thinking about getting that device. Again, similar to JBL Charge 3, the JBL Charge 4 is rated IPX7 waterproof, which means it can withstand one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The JBL Charge 4 does feature JBL Connect Plus, so it can be wireless connected to more than 100 other JBL speakers that also have JBL Connect plus. It is worth noting that you can’t connect a JBL bluetooth speaker with JBL Connect to a JBL speaker with JBL Connect Plus. Just an FYI if you have some older JBL speakers. One of the biggest differences between the JBL Charge 4 and other devices is that it include a USB port on the back of the device that you can use to charge other devices. If you connect an MP3 player, you can play audio from that device through your jbl charge 4 while it is connected and charging. Next to USB port there is also a 3.5 millimeter audio cable input for hard-wiring an audio source to the JBL Bluetooth speaker. Now, let’s discuss the audio quality. The audio quality on the JBL Charge 4 does sound a bit muddy and washes out compared with other speakers. In closing, the JBL charge 4 is a great speaker at an alright price if you are looking for something with a degree of portability that has a fair amount of power. The battery life is impressive, and the ability to charge and play other devices though the USB port is nice. If you are looking for something that is going to primarily live in a share family room space, the Charge 4 is a good fit. If you are looking for the type of speaker that can sit on your desk or in an office, something along the JBL charge 4 is probably a better fit.

This is actually our household’s second JBL Charge 4. After having my boyfriend’s black JBL speaker for over a year and LOVING it, I decided to order my own in pink, my favorite color. That’s actually one of the small perks of this speaker, it comes in so many different colors, so there’s sure to be one that appeals to each person. I’ve had mine for four years now, and ordered it during the height of the pandemic. At the time, it was $129.95, which i wasn’t worried about because I knew from our other one that it was well worth it. They take a little while to fully charge, but once they are they last a good amount of time. The Bluetooth is easy to connect, and easy to switch between speakers. My favorite feature is that when you have two JBL Charge speakers turned on, they can actually sync together, so you can have larger and louder sound playing through both speakers at once. This speaker has come in clutch at charging my phone in the past when I haven’t had a power block to plug my iPhone charger into as well. This speaker has held up so well over the years, it’s gotten a little dirty from the times my boyfriend has taken mine to his construction job, but that’s it. All in all I love this speaker, and love JBL as a brand!

The speaker was such a goodbye. I bought it for my husband for Father’s Day. He wanted a speaker of those Bluetooth. He could take fishing with him. This sounds great cause it’s waterproof. The sound quality on this little speaker is outrageous. It’s it can get so loud and stay so clear, the speaker so stay the same price for the last five years it’s such a good quality little speaker. I’m so impressed. I highly suggest if you’re thinking about it.

Customized jbl!
12 November 2023

I was amazed when I learned you could customize your jbl and even more excited when they had photo uploads customization options. I chose my favorite painting and uploaded it as the design and it looks perfect as if it were a unique design. I love it because it’s sentimental and no one else would have my design. They did a great job on displaying exactly what I wanted. Also a great speaker overall, I’ve been needing a new good quality speaker and when I saw these were on sale, I just had to do it. For a customized speaker, the price was very reasonable and cheaper than I expected. Not enough people know you can customize your jbl speakers!

Impressive Speaker

Over 3.5 years, this thing is still going strong. Since it's usually used in an indoor environment, it's not under much if any stress. I am amazed with how well the battery has held up after an estimated 600 hours of total use; only slight wear. I have used this, as well as an Xtreme 2, to keep phones charged during a 4 day power outage, which together needed recharged every 2 days. Connect+ is nice to have, as I can connect my other speakers (Pulse 3 and Xtreme 2) pretty much within its range of bluetooth. Sound quality is pretty good. I'm a bit of an audiophile, but an equalizer app had no problem with getting this speaker to sound how I would like.Other JBL products I own: Clip 3 - 2.7 years, Pulse 3 - 3 years, Xtreme 2 - 3.1 years, Charge 4 - 3.5 years, and Go ... MoreOver 3.5 years, this thing is still going strong. NOT Water Proof as advertised
12 May 2024

I own this speaker and occasionally use it. Great sound and connection to devices. Has a decent battery charge life. However, this speaker is NOT waterpropf as advertised. The few times I've had this speaker in the bathroom with me during shower time and suddenly it makes a raggedy sounding blare with any little bit of base in an audio track. This speaker cannot handle a little bathroom steam. So it definitely couldn't handle falling into water or being around water. Defeats the whole purpose for buying this speaker because it is supposed to be water proof and it isn't. Not worth the price or buying.

These allow engineers to greatly magnify and enhance the same low frequencies without requiring any addition power from an amplifier. They have become more commonplace over the last few decades I believe and really enhance your bang-for-bucķ factor.I do have a complaint though. This unit was supposed to ship with some accessories I believe, including a USB cable for charging. However, only the speaker was present in the packaging, which was the original retail box.
