JBL Clip 2 Black Portable Bluetooth Speaker

I’ve had JBL speakers for years now. It has great sound. I love that I can take it everywhere hooked to my backpack or purse. The battery life lasts for several days without charging. It charges really fast so it doesn’t need to be plugged for hours or overnight. Definitely recommend this speakers.

Good product with good quality.

Its good quality through and through I work as a dish washer and water constantly gets on it without damaging it. EDIT: Okay I saw this review and I made this review back in 2018 and I am legit astounded by how long i've had this device now. Nowadays I leave this device out in my car (Nobody steals it.) and its basically just a car speaker for me. I have done this for a few years now and to this day 12/30/2021 it STILL works. Thats almost 4 years later. The battery still charges, it still holds a charge for about 4 hours, and it still sounds amazing. If that is not proof this product is worth your money then I don't know what is. Then again I do take very good care of my things. Great “First Impression"

Really enjoyed and love these headphones straight out the box. I love the sound quality and would really recommend them on that level and the sync function is awesome too, my fiancé and myself can listen to the same songs simultaneously on our own head sets.I cannot stress how much I look after my goods, I had even bought a hard case to store and safe keep the headphones and would even restrict myself from using them unnecessarily, I’ve honestly barely even used them that’s how much I had cherished them and I can honestly testify these are FAR from over used although the state and look of them would suggest otherwise.Over night the cushions started to flake and chip away (see attached) not the quality I had expected from JBL. Now after each use I have to make sure I peel off the material on my face and ears :( (so minus points on comfortability other than that they were honestly comfy)Another issue I had and still have is the TERRIBLE latency when watching videos and using the headphones on bluetooth, to my understanding a firmware update *might resolve the issue although on the support software and specs I can only find a WINDOWS compatible file pack to do this where I unfortunately have an apple laptop so no fix there for me it seems sadly. Really wish I hadn’t had this experience, I’m not sure how it is going to effect my next purchase, as you can see by the attached image I am in need of a new set of headphones, is it fair to give another manufacturer and brand a shot? Ive always loved the quality of JBL its just a pity that this had tainted my opinions and views and makes me wonder if the old business model of making products that last are a thing of the past.

Major connectivity problems- turns itself off

The JBL clip 2 is durable and reasonably loud. However, nine out of every ten times I use it, my computer "detects" it and... goes right on using its own speakers, unless and until I open my bluetooth connection and manually disconnect and reconnect it.This would be bad enough, but when there is no sound coming into it from my computer, it always- ALWAYS- turns itself off after a few minutes and forces me to go through the whole reconnection process all over again.I imagine this was meant as a powersaving measure, but I have no control over it, and as a practical matter there are always long stretches of time when I want it at the ready but I am not actively using it. Ok but not great

My biggest issue with the speaker is how quiet it is. compared with the UE roll which I used to use and now the JBL is replacing. I will say that by comparison the JBL does seem to have better audio fidelity for certain types of music, but has no Equalizer app so this isnt adjustable depending on the music style. At least on the music Ive listened to through the JBL so far, the increase in fidelity is small to negligible. (To my ear compared to my old speaker.) My second issue is the clip, its not manoeuvrable, so isnt very versatile. I strap the speaker to my bag to use when I cycle but to gear it I have to try to position it so it faces me directly, which doesnt really work. Bigger buttons with a tactile indicator such as a plus and minus on the volume buttons would help. My last issue is how delicate it feels, Im always aware of any little knock or bump, I like to use my speakers when doing sports or adventures so I think this speaker isnt really for me. Im most likely going to give this speaker away, I binned the packaging, and get a new UR roll.

Pocket powerhouse

I bought this to use in my car in place of a stereo, as my car doesn't have a stereo or any speakers. I have been using a jbl flip 2 but thought i would try the clip 2. The sound quality for a speaker this small isn't bad. It isn't amazing, but for something you can just throw in a bag or pocket, you could do a lot worse. It does sound a little thin, the highs come through quite well and the mids are okay. There isn't a lot of bass but if you can live with that, it's a steal. The sound did change very slightly when i put it on a solid surface, instead if my thin plastic dashboard. Build quality is pretty good. Feels very sturdy and solid. Features are pretty simple. Connected to my phone first time, real easy. Buttons are easy to find and weren't fiddly. Makes it easier to just clip onto something like a bag, bicycle, belt loop and take your tunes with you. I did use it to make a call. The voice was clear from both ends but i was sat somewhere quiet. Overall i'm reall happy with it. Good features, simple to use. Smaller than i thought it would be. It's a very small driver so if you're all about the bass, look elswhere. But if you'll be happy with something small and well built, maybe as a backup for a speaker you already have, go for it. Even if itsits on a desk or in a bag, you'll probably use it at some point. This one will also daisy chain to another clip 2, so you can have the same source coming through both speakers, although not in stereo, just both at the same time. The clip 3 is unable to do that. I wasn't able to do it with this as i only have one at this point, but i would be interested to find out how that sounds. I'm sure there is a video somewhere of it. Also, the later jbl speakers that you can connect multiple speakers together require an app to do that, the clip 2 is not compatible with that. It does have a built in aux cable too so you can save your phones battery by leaving bluetooth switched off if you take it away for the day or to a festival. I'm pretty pleased with this speaker for the price. The only reason i would advise to look elsewhere would be if you have to have your bass. Then you need to be looking at speakers with bigger/more drivers.

Versatility, portability and sound quality!

I tried a few portable speakers in the market to travel with and the JBL Clip 2 is now my keeper. The fit and finish are premium it’s a pleasure to handle it, the design is brilliant and really versatile. I can hang it with clip anywhere, laying flat on a table, lean on items thanks to the anti-slip material but I often use with the clip upside down as stand thus adjusting inclination and sound direction. The sound quality while not been for audiophile is excellent and better then most comparable products. For an overall travel speaker I think is one of the best and I definitely recommend it.Now let me spend a few words about my wishes for the JBL Clip 3 hoping JBL engineers will read this. Please don’t increase size or weight, it’s already on the edge of being portable, even the design is perfect, don’t remove the integrated aux cable is really useful and versatile, the size and design stands it apart from competitors. First thing to make it really versatile please add a simple micro-sd slot card player with basic interface commands like standard/shuffle and change directory and previous song (next song, play and pause are already featured). Second please have the possibility to change or lower the volume of the loud/annoying start up and shut down sounds, even via firmware or customizable software/app, also a button to toggle among some premade EQ presets would be cool. Third and most important is sound quality, I would be glad to pay 50% more for a 30-50% sound quality increase in the same package, I don’t mean higher volume, just a fuller, richer and clearer sound all over the spectrum even at low volume, add a micro-sd player, a better/customizable interface and take my money.

If you can operate one, you can operate the other, as it is very easy.1st: The circular JBL Clip 2 measures 3.71” in diameter and is 1.635” thick from the speaker face to the back. The rubberized finish of the sides and back make it easy to grip. The front has a nice textured, weather resistant, cloth cover over the speaker with a nice orange JBL logo at the bottom.2nd: At the top is an orange triangular clip with one side spring loaded to allow you to attach the JBL clip 2 to just about anything for carrying it around. It easily fit on the strap of my Lands End bag I use for carrying this to and from the school where I teach Math. The top width of the spring loaded clip is 1.965” and the interior height is 2.26” which will accommodate a pretty good size belt or strap for carrying. The triangular clip is attached to the JBL Clip 2 with a semi-clear rubberized material that allows the triangular carrying clip to rotate front to back nearly 180 degrees.3rd: The JBL clip 2 has a 13.5” useable length stereo mini cable with the corresponding plug. What I love about this cable is that JBL put a small groove around the circumference of the Clip 2 with a recess that allows one to wrap the cable fully around the Clip 2 and then has a unique recess in the back to pressure fit the connector so it fully protected and will not fall out. Very smart engineering in my opinion rather than have a loose cable with a jack and plug in which one could misplace the cable and not have it with you when you need it.4th: Looking at the speaker (front) on the left side is the recessed buttons that seem weather resistant for volume + and – and the activation button for use with a phone. On the right side are the on/off button, the Bluetooth activation button, and a recessed connector socket for the USB cable for charging from a standard computer USB socket. The orange, charging usb cable is separate, 13” long, just like the Go’s.Sound wise the JBL Clip 2 seems easily as good as our JBL Go’s in that is has a full bodied, warm sound, but is also very clear and makes dialogue easy to understand. I really like the idea of the Clip 2 for joggers, walkers, and anyone who does moderate exercise, but wants to be able to hear what is going on around them. I would consider the use of the JBL Clip 2 to have some safety value in knowing your environment, especially when jogging and walking through a park, but still want to have some music in the background or even enjoying an audio book, audio stream, or TV show or movie.In closing I would have to say that the JBL Clip 2 is a must for someone on the go that will enhance the enjoyment of their Bluetooth devices and is certainly a huge upgrade, sonically, to the internal speakers of a Smart Phone or Tablet…any Bluetooth device one might use. I love the waterproof feature as, in addition to all-weather outdoor conditions, I can take it in the shower for morning radio listening. I've also found this model is better suited to spoken word (audio books, podcasts, etc.) as the bass is not as booming which sounds more natural for voice.JBL really has an incredible offering in the Clip 2. If you're style is music and audio on the go then the this speaker is a no-brainer with it's blend of incredible sound quality, ruggedness and portability features. And even if you don't need ultra-portability, the sound quality alone is so good that the Clip 2 should be on your short list for consideration against any other Bluetooth speaker.
