Not only did I avoid dumping my money down the monopoly doom shoot but I actually received my products in 2 days! They look very nice & have a durable feel.. they are a little heavier than I expected for their small size which I prefer. The clip portion is a perfect size & fits on just about anything you'd want to hang it from. Even though I trust the JBL build, I still opted to buy a silicone case to offer extra shock protection. The clip4 is the perfect travel size. I bought one for my sister-in-law who uses it as a hiking & shower speaker. I bought one for my dad who clips it onto his tool belt & takes it out on home inspection jobs, yard/home projects, woodworking, metal detecting, road trips.. you name it! The 3rd one I brought for my brother who uses it mostly while gaming, showers & for photography shoots.Sound Quality:Once again JBL has managed to outshine their competitors and offer some serious sound in a little package. This speaker packs a punch & it has crazy base for its size. It actually thumps which made me laugh considering its small size. As others have mentioned, you might want to consider utilizing an equalizer if you're an avid podcast listener. The base level can drown out the podcast or make conversations sound muddy. Spotify actually has an equalizer built into their app which works great!

I’ve no idea why some people are complaining about lack of speakerphone. Someone who goes out into the wild and spends the time on speakerphone has completely missed the point. Aux cables are also outdated, so I’m glad they got rid of the 3.5mm jack. An app would be nice for updates, and to check battery percentage, but overall I’m really happy with it. It’s simple, stripped back, portable, and functional, and that’s the whole point. Adding in a 3.5mm jack and features like a microphone adds weight and reduces waterproofing, which is the whole point of this speaker! So stop whinging, and if you want speakerphone or additional inputs, buy the flip 6 because you’re clearly not that worried about portability.

Great sound quality and awesome color!!

Great sound... no phone!
25 April 2022

I have had every Clip speaker since the first one. Great for riding and walking without having to use headphones and the ability to answer calls from my phone. This new model has a really deep sound and as a stand alone speaker is great to listen too. However, a real advantage for the clip used to be the ability to answer calls without having to stop and retrieve the phone. My first day of using I went to answer call on my bike and it did not work. I thought I had stuffed up the Bluetooth and my watch was taking over. But no, the brainiacs at JBL have removed the phone answering feature. Very disappointing. I would rather not have this now and the store does not want to take it back because I don't like it.Why did this feature get removed??

Great!... When it works.

The good: The sound (A++! for the size), the clip (perfect for hitching onto any bag, article of clothing, etc.), the ease of connectivity (connected to each of my devices with no hang ups). The bad: The rubber on the base and logo was so loose that it began to come off right after opening. I superglued on what I could, and didn't mind having to do that, but what makes me give this a 3 star rating is that the volume up button stopped working within two weeks of purchase. This button is also used for the hard reset of the device which I assume would fix the problem, but alas with it not working I can't perform the hard reset. So I've had to ship back to JBL for a replacement.I assume I likely just got the runt of the pack so to speak and this one couldn't make it ... MoreThe good: The sound (A++! for the size), the clip (perfect for hitching onto any bag, article of clothing, etc.), the ease of connectivity (connected to each of my devices with no hang ups). The bad: The rubber on the base and logo was so loose that it began to come off right after opening. I'm sure there are others out there that perform just as good as I describe in "the good" without any of the "bad", so here's hoping JBL sends me a winner.

JBL Clip 4 - A Portable Speaker for On-the-Go Music
12 April 2023

The JBL Clip 4 is a fantastic portable speaker for anyone who loves listening to music on the go. Its compact and durable design, along with its water-resistant features, make it ideal for outdoor use. The audio performance is impressive for a speaker of this size, with clear and balanced sound. The control buttons are straightforward and easy to use, and Bluetooth connectivity allows for seamless streaming from a mobile device. However, the lack of a built-in microphone for taking phone calls and limited bass performance may not be suitable for some users. Overall, the JBL Clip 4 is a great choice for anyone who wants a compact and reliable speaker for on-the-go music.

Lacking in features / fails fast

imageJose50,Thanks for writing a review about JBL Clip 4!As a security measure, please finalize your submission by clicking the link below:CONFIRM YOUR REVIEW SUBMISSIONI was given the Clip4 as a present. I was a little disappointed when I realized it doesn't support speaker phone functionality nor does it have the ability to control source media like any other BT speaker I have purchased. This would be fine for someone that only wants to listen to music but misses the functionality most digitally informed users are looking for such as knowing how much battery life is left. On the plus side I am already aquatinted with support because it stopped working after my initial testing.

Less features
24 February 2023

I bought a jbl clip 3, been using it for years, but the battery is sadly no longer holding a charge or charging. So when i came looking for a new one, i figure upgrading to the jbl clip 4 wasnt a bad idea, same price i paid for the old one. And then as i was trying it out, i come to find they removed features the previous model had. No more phone calls, just audio. No long displays battery life percentage in bluetooth menu. Their "waterproof" is now like phones, no flap to cover the port, just cant charge it until the port dries out. The only apprehension i had about buying it, based on reviews and design was the sensitive buttons. But thats the one thing i haven't had happened. Loud and clear
29 May 2022

These speakers are incredibly loud for their size. I didn't have any issues with not having a JBL app since I could just use the EQ/settings from my music player to achieve my desired sounds. I docked a star because bass is definitely lacking. It's competition, the Sony XB13 (which I ended up keeping), have stellar bass for its size. The other reason is that while I thought the XB13 would fare better for bass heavy music while these would triumph for more vocal pieces, I found the Sony to be better throughout.Pick the JBL if you prefer an open sound and want sheer power through volume.Note: I think its standard pricing is over-priced ($80). At that price point, it is closer to speakers in a larger size than its actual competition. Excellent value at $50 on sale.

Terrible button design ruins it
27 May 2022

I'm returning this speaker because the buttons are very poorly designed. I'm an avid hiker and backcountry skier. I've had a Clip3 swinging from my backpack for years without any problems. My trusty Clip3's battery is no longer holding much of a charger, so I decided to give the Clip4 a try.Sound-wise, the Clip4 is solid, on par with the Clip3. Where the Clip4 completely fails is the button design. The Clip3's buttons are recessed and required an intentional push. The Clip4's buttons are the opposite. They actually protrude and are extremely sensitive to touch. Even slightly grazing them will suddenly turn your speaker off or put it into pairing mode.I tested the Clip4 on a run a few days ago. It was hanging on my backpack and it turned itself off 5 times (no joke) as I ran. As it swung from side to side, simply brushing against my soft backpack would turn it off. The button design is horrendous. In many years of owning a Clip3, it never once turned itself off. The Clip4 design is trash. Skip it and find a Clip3 on Amazon or some other online retailer.
