these are the worst speakers !! Can't get a decent volume without clipping . My Altos were a much better speaker until I lost low end .I went with JBL because of their reputation never again can't wait to get rid of them

I've owned this speaker for 2 years and use it primarily for indoor playback at low to moderate levels. The clarity of music and vocals at 50 feet and beyond is fantastic and what makes this signature JBL imo. I was disappointed with the bass response for the first several months but after more playback have found the speaker to break in nicely and extend the low end. I own an SPL meter and have calibrated with -20dBFS pink noise to 85dB at listening position so I know the playback settings have been the same throughout. Another quick point, I've seen videos online of DJs comparing this speaker to similar QSC and Mackie models with the master gain knob at vertical for unity. Please note this speaker makes no use of unity or 0db marks on the dial and this is therefore a ridiculous comparison. Consider using a standard test tone of -20dBFS pink noise and use a meter set for 85dB in your audience or listening position. Repeat for another speaker, then play some music and listen for yourself.

The sound of these speakers is excellent! I perform with acoustic, electric and electronic instruments and it meets my fidelity needs perfectly. (Close anyway) I've loaded the app for coordinating the speakers (Bluetooth, stereo, updating firmware) on both iOS and Android systems and it's very uncooperative. Selections turning off on their own. The app wouldn't recognize the speakers existence. Once I finally had everything set up for stereo play it worked beautifully until shutoff. Then I had to start all over again with the set up. The app never did work. I should mention, I do electronic music and MIDI guitar demonstrations professionally. I know how to work with an app in both computer formats. Great sounding speaker!
