Adequate for basic daily use
I've been using these headphones for a week or two, and they are decent. Sound quality is good for me (not an audiophile, I use these for casually listening to music and podcasts and for calls) and was told audio was good on the other end of calls. Noise cancelling works alright too, definitely doesn't block everything but reduces quite a lot. White noise is audible for a few seconds after the sound you're playing ends. Noise blocking is probably due to good fit of the earbuds as well. Three different tip sizes were helpful to get that fit right. Note that the controls are only on the right side; the left side looks like it has controls but is just a counterweight. I'm not sure about battery life yet, but they do charge quickly.Downsides: magnet is very weak, does ... MoreI've been using these headphones for a week or two, and they are decent. Earbuds are prone to slip to one side or the other as the button bit is not heavy enough to hold them in place. On the other hand, it is heavy enough that they almost fall out when I'm reclined (such as during a bench press). Sometimes the pause button doesn't seem to work.Upsides: they connect very easily and usually automatically to my laptop and phone (android and PC). Sound quality and noise cancelling are adequate. Fit is good. I like that I can wear just one earbud and not lose the other piece.Overall, I'd recommend these for basic daily use, but I wouldn't recommend them for intense activities like running or for audiophiles.... Excellent sound and portablilty
"Excellent sound, portability and unity"this is my third JBL Portable. Found no need to adventure outside of this pattern of purchases as of yet and it's been 10 years of JBL portables, with the exception of 1 Bose portable *(Decently comparable tbh but JBL is more rugged) Previous two were charge variants (only difference is they can charge your devices) decided there is enough juice to go around. So I opted for this little guy. Still Not disappointed. Plus with the infinity "secret button" you can link up tons of other jbl portables to the same source input signal. (app controlled who gets it and first one to initiate the swarm link)Disclaimer the only difference between the flip 5 and 6 is the 6 can have a universal equalizer that will automatically tune ... (as long as the platform supports it) that and it has a little hump thingy to help it stop rolling. Cometics are obvious. Definitely recommend.Hope this helped :p... Show more

Fake JBL speaker
This is not a genuine JBL speaker. Bought this as a gift for my brother because he loved mine so much. But upon comparing this one with my known authentic JBL, you can clearly see that this one is counterfeit. Sound quality is not nearly as good as authentic JBLs. It also has weird voice commands programmed into it that authentic ones do not have. The mesh over the speaker body is some kind of fabric(?) cover that starts to sag and get loose after a while.Overall it isn’t a terrible speaker, but it’s being sold as something it isn’t, and it’s overpriced for the quality it provides.... It's time to move on
The reign of JBL Flip has come to an embarrassing end. The removal of listening versatility by the choice to change the long-standing two-axis symmetric speaker position to an asymmetric orientation massively reduces the sound quality and versatility. If you ever enjoyed listening to your JBL Flip speaker in "landscape mode" (with the speaker horizontal on a surface), the sound stage in this position is ruined in the JBL Flip 5 generation and on. In technical terms, they changed the JBL Flip in-built speaker orientation by removing an axis of reflectional symmetry, to promote (and restrict) the speaker to only be used in the vertical orientation (nb: you're out of luck on any uneven or soft surface). This change was made without any public notice regarding the ... An incredible disappointment as a past owner and avid user of JBL Flip 3 and 4 speakers - the new JBL Flip 5 generation shows a purposeful attempt to reduce the functionality of the JBL Flip line in an effort to push larger JBL portable speakers and/or multiple copies of JBL Flip 5 speakers for listening to a symmetric sound stage. These were the sole two recommendations I received from JBL Flip support *after* they improperly diagnosed my warranty request about the asymmetric speaker orientation as a defect. My JBL Flip 5 was purchased through an Amazon retailer in June 2022 and replaced directly by JBL, in error, in July 2022 via warranty (removing my ability for a retailer return). And now to be petty: With such a drastic change to the listening capability of this device, why have they forgotten to rotate the orientation of the JBL symbol to be read from the actual (vertical) speaker orientation?... JBL Flip 5 Portable Bluetooth Speaker
I finally took the plunge and bought a bluetooth speaker. I'm really happy with this one, it's a substantial enough size to really kick out some powerful music. Works best when I pair with my phone. When trying to stream from the computer, it briefly cuts out, off and on. I'm not sure what the problem is, apparently others have had this problem. And, it came with a "quick start guide" that really doesn't give much info at all...and there is no full manual. I've read a few things about various features this has, but there is no documentation that comes with it, explaining those. Still...it does sound great, nice to be able to pick it up and move from room to room, it sounds good everywhere.... Show more

Just the wireless earphone that I need
There were a couple of deciding factors before I bought this earphone. First, battery life. Second, multi-point feature. Once I had it, both factors did not disappoint me at all. I can easily use it a couple of days in the office for a couple of Zoom calls without having to recharge. The multi-point connection is really useful for me, who feels it is a hassle to change the connection from my laptop to my phone occasionally. It works pretty nicely. I can do phone calls and move to my Zoom call seamlessly.... Show more

Love it!
The JBL Flip 5, Waterproof Portable Bluetooth speaker provides a high quality sound experience while being extremely convenient to charge, connect, and transport. I purchased the JBL Flip 5 speaker in the color black, since my purchase I have been extremely happy with the product and its usage.Connecting to the SpeakerThe JBL Flip 5 is extremely convenient to connect to your phone. The speaker comes equipped with a bluetooth button on the side. After clicking on the button a slow beeping sound will play, from there you can open the bluetooth setting on your phone and select, “JBL Flip 5.” It will then make a beeping noise in a different pattern to signal your phone has been connected to the speaker. After my phone connected to the speaker it stayed auto-connected so the next time I turned on my speaker I didn’t need to reconnect it, I heard the pattern of the beeping noise that signifies it is connected.Playing Sound & QualityAfter my phone was connected, any audio that would typically be played through my phone was now being played through the speaker. The quality of the sound produced is high level and when I play songs with a high bass you can see it on the top of the speaker. Before purchasing this speaker I played music off of my Amazon Echo Show and cheap speakers, the sound that comes from the JBL Flip 5 is incomparable to any of them. The only complaint I would have is with the sound is the volume. If you are looking for a loud speaker inside, the JBL Flip 5 is perfect but if you are looking for an extremely loud speaker to play outside in a public setting you might want to invest in a bigger JBL speaker.Charging and Battery LifeThe JBL Flip 5 comes with a USB-C charging cable which is now typically the standard across all devices as well as Apple’s new iPhone 15. I leave my speaker to charge overnight and once the bar on the side reaches full battery, I am able to leave it unplugged for a week (on average I use my speaker for 1 hour every day). When my speaker does reach low battery it notifies me by flashing red on the side of the speaker and I have about a 15-30 minute period of usage before it dies.Transporting and DurabilityThe JBL Flip 5 is a perfect speaker to travel with. It fits in the water bottle holder on a backpack or it is tiny enough to stick in any bag or suitcase. I have used my speaker in various settings. When I brought it with me to the beach it got water on it as well as sand but was able to be cleaned easily and continued to perform with the same high quality after. I have also used my speaker in my house, backyard, and tailgates.ConclusionI highly recommend the JBL Flip 5. I have had little to no complaints about it and it has been a durable, high performing speaker. It is an affordable, high quality, and convenient speaker.... Show more

Portable, long lasting charge, and good sound
Bought this a couple of weeks ago, and am very happy with it so far. It's survived being carted up and down the country, stuffed in bags, and has worked well without any issues. It is compact, reasonably lightweight, and can even be hung up somewhere thanks to the handy little strap. Set-up was minimal and easy - though the need for an app is questionable, as you can't alter the sound levels/metrics. I've used it successfully for audiobooks as well as music, and you don't get the little pause at the beginning of speech that I've experienced with many other Bluetooth speakers. It charges with a USB type C cable, but doesn't come with a wall-plug. Not an issue for me as I've already got plugs and adaptors for other electronics. Not tested out the waterproof claims ... Really great!
I’ve always really liked the sound of my Flip5 but loving music I thought I would splurge on another speaker more than 4 times the price. Sometimes you just torment over which speaker is better when you’re doing a side by side test. In this case it was truly astonishing the difference between the two. In just the first few bars it was absolutely clear that the other speaker sounded boring and flat compared to the JBL. The JBL had much better, more lively sound than the other brand. With the Flip 5 you’ll hear the ring of the guitars and feel the wood vibrate on the intro to Maggie May and this is on a little bluetooth speaker.... Show more

Stay away from the Flip Series of Products
Flip 4 and 5 Reviews. Over a four year period I purchased two Flip 4’s and one Flip 5 Waterproof speakers. This will be short and not so sweet. My Flip 4 I loved everything about it! Great sound, portability and easy to sync! I had it about a year and bought another, Flip 4 for home and one for the cabin. Shortly after I bought a Flip 5 Waterproof then for our trailer. Within the next year both Flip 4’s would play for about less the an hour and it would shut off. I would turn them back on and the they’d shut off with 10-15 minutes! The identical symptom of playing fine then shutting down occurred then for my Flip 5 Waterproof! I use to be a major fan JBL products but no more!
