I've been stubbornly trying to find a way to like these for 6 months, and I can't find any situation they work adequately in. No combination of tips keeps them in either ear with any consistency. There's also no warning when they pop out. They fall on the floor, into the lawn, the engine bay of my car; whatever I'm working over. Random disconnects of one ear where it will just sit and chime over and over until finally reconnecting. That's after turning off the features (auto/pause and touch controls). I have been using the JBL Live Free NC+ for about a year now. I am really happy! They are great to use while working out (they won't fall out your ear), no more messing with cables - which I was still doing until last year. (losing a star because of the nonexistent noise cancelling and the slightly uncomfortable fit)

I thought this was a good pair for general activities. I found that the i had to go to the largest ear tips to fully get the effect of noise cancellation and to secure the buds from falling out while doing physical activities. It does give a little bit of that cotton in the ear feel when the NC is on but its not too bad and i got used to it after a while. Battery life is about average and charging seems to be pretty quick. The lid on the case is really cheap feel and the spring that holds the lid closed is really weak. Mine already is starting to have a wiggle lid feel where its not holding it closed to the case. The app is great for changing up the equalizer and for bud location if it gets away from you. I normally have smaller ear canals so I was pleasantly surprised that they fit. They feel very secure.I have other JBL headphones and I am able to interact with them through an app to enable and disable features or more importantly EQ the devices. These do not seem to interact with any app that I can tell at the writing of this review. So I knocked one star off for that because as you are about to see, these buds need an EQ.So the box advertises the "JBL Signature Sound". As I stated I have other JBL headphones and these buds do not sound like the others. I will start with the good. The good is that they have a really nice punchy low end response. Some songs I listened to, these guys almost punch you in the ear with bass, in a good way. The lower mid range is slightly lacking, but solid enough and not distracting. I did find an EQ app that I was able to use to tune these devices and I ended up boosting most lower frequencies below 1kHz, but only slightly. Above 1kHz is where it gets really problematic. These buds are really harsh to my ears in and around the 5-6kHz range. Cymbals are really harsh, snare cracks hurt, and the hi-hats just dig and drone into my ears. I ended up dropping the 5-6kHz range drastically in my EQ app, at times by as much as 5db. I also noticed that going in the high upper extremes of the sound spectrum was also lacking a bit. I know most people don't notice 16kHz and above, but those spatial frequencies do add to the overall experience and these buds are lacking in that area. As I write this review, I have been listening to a variety of music with these buds and I find myself having to continue to adjust the EQ because that 5kHz range is just that harsh.The final thing I have to say is that the sound stage of these buds are quite lacking as well. It sounds like all of the sound is aimed right at the base and center of my skull. I don't hear much stereo separation at all. Luckily my EQ app has a virtualizer and I was able to separate the stereo space a bit and that helps a little.Overall, a great experience with the hardware and connection process that is unfortunately overshadowed a bit with some poor performance in the sibilance frequency range and stereo separation.

The touch controls aren't overly sensitive which is great, they only respond if your touch the absolute middle of the earbud. The ambient mode is also very clear but has a white noise which my other pairs of TWS earbuds also have. However if you use these with say an air compressor you absolutely have to turn either NC or ambient mode OFF! the noise will come right through the mics and won't be pleasant. The battery life is as advertised, like I said I can wear these until the battery dies so they'll basically last me just about 8 hours at work. The Audio quality is really where these shine! They just sound great! JBL has really been knocking their newer products out of the water lately and these are no exception! The sound stage is really wide, the mids highs and lows are super clear and clean, plus with the app you can really adjust these! And they respond very well. The charging case is also super small which I love, it just fits into my pockets easily.As for the app itself JBL has done allot to improve it over the years. It's come a long way and really complements these earbuds well. Right off the bat when I got these there was a firmware update which improved the overall pairing speed and response of these earbuds. You can customize the controls, audio signal and play around with the noise canceling. There's also a locator in case you miss place your earbuds but sadly no gps locator. As for the ANC it works really well, however when playing around with the slider the ANC doesn't work the way you think it does. Moving the slider to the right doesn't drown out all the background noises. What you have to do is play around with the slider and basically adjust it to suit whatever noise you want to decrease or eliminate. So basically your focusing the ANC to work with a specific frequency range. The ANC on these is very effective but you need to know how to use it otherwise you might think it's not working or not effective. It definitely does work very well. Finally JBL added the ability to use the left or right independently! This should have been done from day one! But THANK YOU for finally adding this feature, the other nice thing is that ambient mode kicks in on the earbud that's still in your ear during mono mode. This make it feel more natural to have one earbud in. When both earbuds are in your media will stop playing when you take on side out which is another nice feature.So overall these earbuds are very well featured you're getting allot for the money here which I'm very happy about. I feel very good about my purchase and would buy another pair if I ever needed to in the future. JBL is on the right track with these earbuds so keep up the good work!
Long lasting batteries ( at least 6 hours) in the ear buds. The case recharged them quickly. Fit was pretty good but not as well as my jbl 103nc out of the box. I may find that once I change the silicon tips they might fit better. The only real problem I have with them is instead of switching between the noise canceling modes all I get is that the Google assistant isn't turned on. Either that or it will turn off the left earbud completely. Overall they're worth 4.4 stars for sound quality and battery life. The other problems I'm having might just be me. I'll try the instructions again but the earbuds have 3 different functions on each one depending on the length and number of taps. Hope this helps.

As cool as they were, I had to return them as they fell out and had some other issues.With these Free II TWS earbuds, the fit has been corrected. They now don't fall out and sound great. Compared to my True Wireless Flash buds, they don't rest on the "concha" of the ear, which in my opinion, will let me wear them comfortably longer. They are more streamlined, which helps them stay light and fit comfortably, but I'd be concerned about dropping them without a rubberized shell. When this happens, the only solution seems to be putting both buds back in the charging case and then taking them out. A quick and easy fix, but for a problem that shouldn't exist. The charging case uses usb-c and is attractive with a great tactile feel and strong magnets to hold the earbuds for charging. These earbuds come with the the one-piece fitting gels, and come with small, medium, and large.Overall, I'd say if you need some wireless earbuds you want to wear all day, these are a good choice. If, like me you use them occasionally, and especially outside or in the gym, look to spend a little more.

The EQ settings are pretty cool and very easy to adjust. you can make a few different EQ profiles using the JBL app which is free to download. It took about 90min-2hours to fully charge using my laptop and once done, was ready to go. Sound quality was about an 8/10, ease of use 7/10 (to receive a call you double tap teh right earbud and to use talk through you tap the left earbud once). The charging case feels heavy-duty and solid. The fitment attachments are good and i thought was easy to set up and wear. they dont feel heavy in the ears at all. As soon as I used the headphones, my Samsung S10 asked if he should download the app. I found that very surprising and a great service. I would not recommend to make phone calls with it maybe only in an emergency solution. On the other line, I could hardly be heard and the background noise was very strong. Now to the positive points: The supplied cable is very soft and nice. The case is very high quality and to make a connection between mobile phone and headphones is very easy. In addition, the background noise is very well suppressed. Unfortunately, the negative points were significantly more and therefore I will return the product.
