This radio has all the options you would want on the water. Its a lot larger and waaay better looking in person. Its built well and powers my speakers really nice. Im a huge audiophile and I was hesitant as I always am with making a purchase before I am able to test it. But trusting in past experiences with jbl I took a chance and I sure am glad I did! Im so impressed with this radio. It doesnt take up space in boat and looks impressive in my dash. I would highly recommend this for anyone with limited space and anyone who appreciates quality.

Bought this to replace a similar style very cheap radio and have been extremely happy. Bluetooth works well. Sound is great. I am using 4 6-1/2 inch Kenwood speakers powered by this head and 2 more 6-1/2 speakers powered via an amp through the rca outputs on the head. 19 foot fish/ski. I'm about to add another amp and sub. The unit does get very hot but only on the backside and also around the thin metal ring in front of the supplied mounting gasket and behind the radio face but not a problem so far. Maybe I got lucky but it has been working great.

Installed on a Boat cockpit. Much better than regular DIN radio units.Control is not so intuitive and not much info when controlling USB pen drives (access is only by file per file system. No folders selection)Good sound quality.Installation is simple, but the it could have a better fixing system with a back screw (like other boats instruments) instead of a pin. Since de boat panel is very deep, I could not reach something to anchor the back pin, and had to use silicon glue to hold it in place.Overall its still much better than din units.

Just installed the radio this past weekend in our Yamaha Rhino. The radio is very compact, which is well suited to the small area behind the dash panel. The radio connections were labeled and pre-stripped which made my work soldering much quicker. I can't comment on the waterproof nature of the radio yet, but rest assured it will be tested. The only negative I have encountered thus far is that when power is removed from the radio and then re-applied, the radio will not automatically power back on. I had planned on wiring the radio to the ignition switch. So basically, you have to press the JBL power button every time. Not a huge deal.
When I first installed it, worked great. Started having problems with it the first time out on the water. It would turn on than shut itself off. I thought it was a voltage problem or maybe bad connection but that was not the case. Now it doesnt work at all and is getting proper voltage. I know Im not the only one with this problem. I didnt even bother trying to have it warranted. I just would never buy a jelly again.
So this was a pretty easy install for me and Im not a very good at electronic wiring work. But lucky for me, the guy how put the radio in before me laid out an easy plan to follow. I will say this. The hole is not a standard gauge hole. Its measured at 3.3in diameter. So needless to say I hooked everything thing up and tried to put it in and it didnt fit.. so out came a dremel to make an I got hole for this amazing radio to fit in. Other than my stupidity this was an easy install. I hooked I up to a pair of JL audio 6.5 speakers.. Absolute change from the Dual MBL 20 that was in there before. Will add 2 cone speakers and an amplifier soon.
Sounds awesome!! And it's perfect for any small place you need to put a radio. It's literally the size of a fist, the wiring coming out of the back of it is about the same diameter of the radio. I would give it 5 stars but I think they could have made some of the buttons smaller and had added buttons for menu, tone and what else I'm forgetting.. Some of the buttons have more than one use and you have to hold down a button for a different function. It ok and I'm sure I will get used to it. But as most people that have had many car stereos they are to a point pretty much self explanatory if you want to customize the sound or change input. This is not the case for this item.
This is a great little radio. I removed my speedometer and installed in it's place. I have had it one for hours and it doesn't get hot like others say . I'm sure it will get very hot when in direct sun on a 100 degree day I use a patio umbrella to cover my console to keep it out of direct sunlight on the sandbar. I would not recommend this unit. Love the EQ and loudness settings . You can also adjust the volume when the unit is turned on so it doesn't blow you out when first coming on . The reason for not giving a 5 star is the bluetooth range doesn't reach far. I can't have my phone with me up on the bow of the boat without it cutting out. Anyone else having this problem? Edited on 7-11-16. Recently I was having trouble with the amp going to protect mode, after looking into it, it's caused from the head unit sending too much voltage through the rca and frying the inputs on the amp. I tried to contact someone about the unit being as it was less that a year old but to no avail, I received no help.
This is the second one I have purchased to install in Polaris RZR UTVs. These stereos are a little different than the typical ones on the market. They are durable, with a metal outer bezel, and have very durable buttons. They take a little while to get used to using, since the navigation is a little meticulous, but its still simple to figure out after messing with it a few minutes. Also note: Most stereos will have two hot wires (one constant power directly to the battery, and one ACC that turns on and off with the key) This stereo only has the one hot wire - from the ACC. So it will not drain your battery. The bluetooth function works very easy. The USB side of things leaves features to be desired. After installing a large 32GB flash drive into this with hundreds of albums, I discovered you cannot navigate easily to locate your music. The stereo has clean sound, and enough power to not need an amplifier to use this in a RZR. I paired this with the Pioneer TS-X200 3 way speakers and it is a good combo, although the speakers are not waterproof. The biggest perk of this stereo is I always power wash the interior of my RZR after riding, and I can power wash the stereo without any issues. Would recommend this for a boat or off road ATV/UTV.
Well, I like it, not, you know, Love. It is a good stereo with some nice features. Mine is paired with some JBL speakers mounted on the side of my center console. They sound nice. Now I just pair the Blue thing with my cell and listen to the Blues on my home essentials direct playlist. Somebody mentioned that it gets hot but I would call it warm as what you are touching is the heat-sink for the amplifier. A watt is a watt is a watt. I don't see it as a problem. Easy to install, easy to use, nice sound, and compact.
