I bought these Bluetooth/wireless headphones in late-2023, and I have to say, I’m really happy with them! They have a very good bass, which isn’t too extreme, crystal-clear sound, the headphones are good quality, they’re adjustable to fit you comfortably and are very lightweight too. My only negative is that they aren’t noise-cancelling, but they block out nearly all background noise, for example if someone is talking to you and you are wearing them, you’ll only just about be able to make out what they’re saying. Overall, very happy with these Bluetooth/wireless headphones, highly recommend!

Bought one of these at sale prices. Best value around for what you get. Speaker sounds great and the software update gives you bass adjustment (not a full eq but way better than nothing). With the large passive radiator the bass was pretty overwhelming before the capability of turning it down. Not 12" speaker low frequency bass but good punchy bass that was over powering thr mids and highs. Turning it down to -3 or so levels it out. Now it sounds great. At low volumes it is a little flat, and to really get good sound out of it you have to turn it up to around 35% or higher. Which may be a little loud for a small room. It can get very loud and holds complexity together to about 90%...which is more than loud enough. Honestly at 90% I can listen to it across my 2200sq ... MoreBought one of these at sale prices. It can hear you over its own music even when it is really loud. And it can even understand my 3yr old....most times.Great deal at these prices. Just hope they keep the software up to date. Rumors of Google assistant features continuing to improve and hope this product is included in those upgrades. Lack of an aux input is a little disappointing but hopefully casting software continues to be a standard feature for electronics.

I picked up the Citation 500 only recently. My first impression was that this thing is massive, at least when compared to Google’s own line of smart speakers,And I gotta say, this thing packs a punch and then some! The sound of this thing is just great, as the titles says. The Citation 500 is obviously a stereo speaker which is accentuated all the more by its wide soundstage, at least it is to me. I guess that due to the larger size of the device there’s more room for separating the speaker’s drivers. I love the way songs sound on this speaker, every note has nice highs and mids, though the highs do tend to cut off at times. Despite that, the sound is just amazing. Quite a lot better than Google’s Home Max as well, which is a lot lighter and a bit smaller. What really surprised me about the Citation series in general was the support for the Google Assistant, Chromecast AND AirPlay 2. I have yet to find any other series of speakers with all this functionality, except maybe JBL’s new Link speakers, including the Link Music and the Link Portable.I also love the wooly exterior of the Citation 500, which is a welcome change to all the tightly woven cloth you get on most other smart speakers. A thing that stands out even more and which I thing is a thoughtful touch is the touch display on the top of the speaker. This screen displays the currently playing music, including song info, album art and track duration. It also offers the option to pause playback and skip in between songs. The screen also features shortcuts, meaning you can have presets saved for radio stations, smart light groups, Spotify playlists and more. You can also change the bass response from the display as well as change a few settings such as screen brightness. When the speaker isn’t in active use the screen turns off though it turn on again automatically when the speaker is asked to play music and other content. So far, I have only been able to find one single fault in this otherwise excellent speaker and that is software support. The Citation 500 is only 2 years old and yet has a cast firmware version which is more than a year old (version 1.40 as opposed to the latest version which is 1.50). Even the $20 Google Home Mini always has the latest firmware. I do understand that this is a third party Assistant speaker but one would expect at least a few updates a year, especially at this price point. This also makes me worry about the speaker’s longevity. Not having the latest version means missing out on new functionality (even though Assistant is cloud-based), security updates and bug fixes. Certain features may also become unavailable or at least unreliable over time. I own several Citation speakers and really do hope Citation starts pushing out updates again since stopping updates would intensely tarnish my experience with Harman Kardon as brand. This really is a shame because this issue could be so easily rectified with a commitment to future firmware updates. The Citation 500 is otherwise a very fine speaker indeed while offering functionality not many other speakers have including a touch display, Chromecast and AirPlay 2. The only thing in my opinion holding back this excellent speaker is the lack of software support which isn’t acceptable in my opinion from a premium audio brand like Harman Kardon. If a Home Mini can get the latest firmware then so can this one. Come on, Harman!
I am a bass lover. Before buying, I read several reviews that the bass in the speaker is missing or weak, and this was the biggest concern. Now I am very glad that I decided to buy.Bass is present in full in all tracks. Listen to Killing Strangers Marilyn Manson and you will feel the bass with your body, not just your ears.I realized that the feedback about the lack of bass is due not to the fact that the bass is weak, but to the fact that along with the bass, the speaker plays full mid and high frequencies. And does it very well. So, the sound of the speaker can not be called a dark or slurred sound.Voices and instruments sound amazing. The bass is not loose and does not create a dark atmosphere where it is not in the track. Instead, the bass is powerful and hard.As a result, after playing a little, I set the bass adjustment to 0, and with this setting the bass is completely enough.Otherwise, everything is perfect. The connection took three minutes without reading the instructions, the tidal plays great, the assistant works as it should. The only nuance is that I have a subscription to hi-fi quality tracks, but when broadcasting via chromecast, the tidal shows high quality, that is, mp3 320, not lossless hi-fi quality. But apparently these are the limitations of the chromecast protocol, and not the device itself. But honestly, I have not yet explored the issue, there was no time. This is my personal impression, I hope it will be useful to those who decide.
I've only had it for a day. The system looks nice in my living room and it's easy to configure. I like that it supports chromecast and built into Google Assistant is nice.Getting to the sound quality, here is the list of devices I use to listen to music: Volkswagen GTI stock 6 speaker stereo, Sennheiser HD 559 headphones and Polk Audio Signa S2 TV sound bar with a subwoofer. KH Citation 500 sucks compared to all of them. It may be okay for classics, butI listen electronic music like Infected Mushroom, and KH just doesn't produce an adequate amount of bass. I basically can't hear some of the bass lines, which I always hear on other devices. I mean it may be good at high and middle range but it's not enough. Will consider sending it back.SW version 0.97.81759 ... MoreI've only had it for a day. I have no idea what these sound like when playing music because they were so uncomfortable I could not tolerate wearing them for longer than a few seconds. First of all I do not have a big head or ears and never had problems with this type of headphones before but these by JBL were literally cutting into me. Despite extending to the maximum width the painful squeezing on both my ears was unbearable immediately; I didn't want to imagine what wearing for even ten minutes would be like. I don't know who these are meant to fit as even a child would have trouble. Hastily returned.
I was on the fence about buying this speaker because there is no "aux input" and there is not an option for a network connection. A network connection would pretty much guarantee no disconnects. It was hard to resist the sale price, so I did purchase. After using the speaker for the last couple days, I'm very happy with the speaker. Using an IPAD PRO, I setup the speaker from the Google home app. This was easy with no issues. The process took maybe 20 minutes, to include the software update on the speaker. I tested playing music from the Google app, and Amazon account music using Air Play (I'm assuming version 2) and Bluetooth via the IPAD PRO. Also, tested casting Amazon account music from my Google browser via my PC. All of this worked well. The Bluetooth sound quality wasn't bad it just didn't compare with the previous two options at high volume. The quality from casting using Google Chrome from my PC was ok, but was the worst sounding of the options. The speaker plays very loud and sounds great for a stand alone speaker. Also, no disconnects or surprises. I wish I had bought a 2nd speaker to pair for a stereo setup. Will be on the lookout for the next sale on these speakers.
I have always been enamored with Harman Kardon speakers. I purchased this Citation 500 based on my love of the Harman Kardon sound and build quality. There are other good speakers available, but most have that digital forced bass and empty midrange eq curve. This sounds more acoustic, with an expansive midrange reminding me more of analog sound. Great sounding speaker. And also - it has tremendous power/volume, should you desire it.
Received my Citation 500 yesterday, set it up was easy, had a firmware upgrade before I can use it. The sound is just as crystal as a Harman Kardon sound should be, Airplay connection was smooth. The problem I noticed is with Airplay, there is always a steady white noise in the background when playing through Airplay, below result is from what I tried:iPhone 7 with apple music: white noiseiPhone 8 with apple music: white noiseiPad Pro 2020 with apple music: white noiseGoogle Play Music through Google home: no white noiseYouTube music through Google Home: no white noise.iPhone 7 Bluetooth connection with any app: no white noise.iPhone 8 Bluetooth connection with any app: no white noise.I hope there is solution for this small issue I noticed.
