The reason I agreed to review these earbuds is because I wanted to try something new. My current earbuds have a limited amount of battery power. Only four and a half hours of maximum playtime. Which is not enough for me. With these coming in at 10x that, I was happy to try them out.Right out of the box, both earbuds were 100% charged and the case was 80% charged.Inside the box was the two earbuds, charging case, short usb-c charging cord, (no power adapter) one set of “open” ear tips, another set of small medium and large “sealing” ear tips & a quick start guide.Initially I connected the earbuds by way of going to my settings, then Bluetooth, then by pressing the connect button, I was able to pair them instantly. After that I installed the JBL app by way of the ... MoreThe reason I agreed to review these earbuds is because I wanted to try something new. Then I opened the app and since I’d already connected them previously they were already displayed and connected. The JBL app has a multitude of different settings that outperform all others I have used. You can easily open it and change the settings to your liking.Within the app there is ambient sound control. Which is where you can activate noise canceling, ambient aware & talk thru. I found the best sound came when I had the active noise cancelling activated. These earbuds advertise as having “pure bass” and “zero noise”. The bass on them is superior and the zero noise feature (active noise canceling) is on point. In order to have these fit in my ear I had to remove the pre installed “open” ear tip and replace it with large “sealing” ear tip. This was not easy to do. It made me really frustrated and it took me way too long to replace. As far as touch controls on the earbuds it’s the typical standard of one tap for play pause, two taps for fast forward, three taps for rewind. Double tap to answer or hang up an incoming call. And long press for mic.My expectation for these earbuds was average based on their price point. Their sound quality, active noise cancelling and battery life exceeded my expectations. However, I don’t like that they don’t automatically stop functioning when I pull them out of my ear. It has to be done manually. The touch control on the ear bud is activated accidentally when handling them. The earbuds were not easy to pull out of the charging case each time. I expected them to have better grip but was disappointed when I struggled to grasp them. The charging case is very lightweight. It has a matte finish which also makes it difficult to hold onto. But I am fairly pleased overall with these JBL tune flex earbuds. Definitely the best features are their sound quality (including bass), active noise cancelling, and extra, extra long battery life. Thanks JBL!

You might as well be putting a river stone in your pocket because if Apple got one thing right, it was making the Airpods case as flat as possible. But I did enjoy the other accessories like the usb c cable and the extra sealing tips just in case you needed to make better use of the noise cancelling capabilities of these buds. Now, I just need to say that I rarely if ever have the need for noise cancelling because some times I just need to ear my surroundings which is why the standard fit of these ... MoreThe primary reason I bought these was because I needed them for work and had a preference for earbuds that did not have a silicone tip seal so that is how I will be judging these buds.First, I very much enjoy the compact case but I do not like how much it bulges out. Having a non-sealing tip was rather helpful and rather comfortable too. Sure, turning up the volume more or less makes up for the lack of seal, but the absence of silicone that doesn't constantly press against the tender flesh of my ear is another bonus.Sound is fairly subjective but I will say that these are bassy even for a set of nice earbuds. They don't get to the point of being muddy but thankfully the app allows you to tone down the bass and bring up the treble a little more. With the tuning it became much more manageable and less muddy. Again, I am using these because they have the option to not have a silicone tip seal so I can't speak to how they sound with them, but the app does let you tune the sound based on if you want the open fit or sealed fit.Overall, these will be staying at my work desk and I will have no issues with using them for hours at a time. These will be more preferable for spoken work things like audiobooks and podcasts, but they can still throw out music at a reasonable sound quality.

Good earphones, with problems when disconnecting.
12 September 2023

I bought these a few months ago and used them fairly regularly. The sound quality is fine, and they connected to my phone and smartwatch fine so I have been able to use them while running. Taken a few calls through them with no complaints about sound or how loud I have been coming through the microphone which is a bonus. My only problem with them has been with the case. After a couple of months i found that once I finished using them and placed the headphones back into the case they would not disconnect from my phone/watch. I googled this and found others had had similar problems and it could be down to not placing the earphone back correctly however, I've place it back as it goes and closed the case without any problem with the earphones still not disconnecting ... MoreI bought these a few months ago and used them fairly regularly. Apart from this being inconvenient in having to disable my Bluetooth to disconnect, the earphones lose charge quickly as they are searching for devices/ or unknowingly connected to one when they should be off.I get £50 for earphones is considered mid ranged, however for that price i wouldn't expect a fault like that.

Great earbuds, but a couple of caveats to consider
15 May 2023

Overall, this is a great set of earbuds, and I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a comfortable fit and mostly great sound, but with a couple of caveats.First, these are a really comfortable fit. I usually struggle with more traditional earbud styles staying in my ears, and having the smaller inner ear piece with the longer stem really seems to help balance these in my ears so they feel more secure since gravity is working with them a little better. They were comfortable and stayed in well regardless of which ear tips I used, but I ultimately found they were most comfortable and had the best noise cancellation if I used the largest tips, which is unusual for me (I’m usually using the smallest size or medium at most). The noise cancellation depends a lot on ... MoreOverall, this is a great set of earbuds, and I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a comfortable fit and mostly great sound, but with a couple of caveats.First, these are a really comfortable fit. They were comfortable and stayed in well regardless of which ear tips I used, but I ultimately found they were most comfortable and had the best noise cancellation if I used the largest tips, which is unusual for me (I’m usually using the smallest size or medium at most). The noise cancellation depends a lot on having the right ear tip fit, but even with the best fitting tips, the noise cancelling was just ok. It blocked a lot of noise, but definitely not all noise—better than earbuds without active noise cancelling, but not the best noise cancellation on the market by a long shot. The sound quality depends on how you set the equalizer. When I emphasized the midtones (the Voice setting), music sounded a bit tinny… but when I had more balanced settings or a setting that emphasized other ranges, the sound quality was quite impressive. Whereas I have sometimes wanted to switch equalizer settings depending on what I was listening to with other JBL products, with these, I have pretty much kept everything on the Jazz setting since that seems to maximize the overall sound quality for most music.I really like having the touch controls on these earbuds (start/stop on the right, changing noise cancelling/active aware/talk through on the right), though my husband hates that feature. This is really a personal preference, but something that I like. The form factor for both the earbuds and the case are really nice. The case has a really long life on a single charge, especially for the size. I just wish it has a little loop built in so that I could attach it to a keychain to keep it securely with me all the time.

Great earbuds, great bass, not so great ANC
21 September 2023

These earbuds are replacing a set of Soundcore ANC that I lost, sadly. For example, if I'm riding my bike, I have to turn ANC off, otherwise the mics pick and amplify the wind noise...other ANC earbuds actually cancel the wind noise rather nicely but these don't.Battery, I've gone through two full case cycles thus far...good battery life, case charges very quickly too.I do with the on-earbud functions were programmable, I don't need the voice commands, I'd rather use that long touch as volume control, for example...but there's no way to change it, hopefully a software update can fix that.Overall for just shy of $100 these earbuds are a great choice for active people that want BASS.

Pairing and charging issues, sound quality is gone
15 October 2023

I bought JBL Tune Flex for the first time in April/23. It seemed a great option for those who seek good and compact design and sound quality. On the first week, however, the earbuds started having issues with pairing and charging. Once I put them back on the case they would not unpair and the Noise Cancelling (which is really not as good) would keep running and drain all the battery. After a few hours, when I put the earbuds back on my ear I'd hear the message "battery is low" even though they had been in the case for hours. The charging wholes on the earbus are terribly designed and always get full of dust, which causes bad contact with the charging plugs of the case. And they're so small that it's hard to clean it. The charging wholes on the earbus are terribly designed and always get full of dust, which causes bad contact with the charging plugs of the case. And they're so small that it's hard to clean it. Also, after paying 80 euros the customer shouldn't be cleaning anything. Moreover, after 3 weeks of use, all the sudden the left earbud completely lost it's sound quality. There was no bass sound left. I asked the store to change it and after a month they gave me a new one as the product was still in warranty. On the new pair of earbuds, they problem with pairing and charging persisted. The same problem again. Besides, after about 4 months of use, gradually the left earbud started losing volume and sound quality, having no more bass AGAIN. But this time my warranty is already over. To correct this mistake I changed the sound balance at the app, but the sound quality is still no the same of course.I really DO NOT recommend anyone to buy these earbuds. All it did was get me stressed when I wanted to listen to music, which should be joyful.

These earbuds deliver quality sound, feel extremely comfortable over time, and have more than enough battery.Right out of the box, these earbuds paired insanely quickly. They connected to a Google Pixel (phone even prompted the pairing) within 5 seconds of opening the case. Pairing to a Windows laptop was similarly seamless, and being able to switch between the two devices was simple - a necessity for most work-from-home individuals. Most important to the Tune Flex product in particular, there are different types of ear tips which provide drastically different listening experiences: open ear tips and sealing tips. Be sure to download the JBL Headphones app to toggle between these audio settings when using different kinds. The open ear tips are on the product when the box is opened (they don't even appear to be removable unless viewed closely). These are best used to hear external sounds, and were dynamite while riding a bike, taking a walk, or doing chores while on the phone. The other tips are sealing which deliver a significant boost in base and sound quality. In addition to the sound quality, the battery (8hrs unit + 24hrs case) lived up to expectations and didn't need to be charged once during a full weekend of hiking. Charge time was relatively quick to both the earbuds via case and to the case with the included USB-C cable. These were comfortable in a variety of uses, and truly were able to be "forgotten" in the ears for long periods of time, unlike many other earbuds which can cause soreness or a dull ache after long periods of wear.Overall, the Tune Flex buds did a fantastic job balancing everyday features at a competitive price point, all while delivering the quality JBL sound - would highly recommend.

Review of JBL Tune Flex Ghost Edition Wireless Bluetooth Noise-Cancelling Earbuds - Black
27 October 2023

They look cool, especially in the ghost versions. The sound quality is maybe what you would expect from this price range. It’s nice you can mess about with an equaliser via their app. This product allows you to use mono which is perfect for on phonecalls.Thats all the good stuff out of the way.The thing which makes these drop from a 3.5 or a 4 out of 5 star product is that they really are not designed to stay in your ear, they will wiggle out. I have never experienced this before. It begs 2 questions.1. Did the not test this product before market?2. Why would they try to reinvent the wheel when there are countless models out their working fine, just copy one of apples designs which have been on the go for 20 years?Because they wiggle out the ear and need ... MoreThey look cool, especially in the ghost versions. You will hate this about them.

Worst headphones I've ever used in its pricerange
19 September 2023

I've been using these as my primary headphones for the last 3 months, and normally use headphones in the $80-120 price range. I want to be as fair as possible in regards to what these do well, but I am not someone who writes reviews unless I have a reason to, and the reason I'm writing this one is not good, and I cannot recommend to potential buyers enough that if you are looking at exercise headphones at around $100, you should to look elsewhere.First, the pros to these headphones:I use JBL quite a bit, and I generally like their products. Their app works well (usually) and they are pretty durable for their price point. I can use JBL's daily for about a year before needing to replace them, which i think is the most you can expect for 100 dollar true wireless ... MoreI've been using these as my primary headphones for the last 3 months, and normally use headphones in the $80-120 price range. Their app works well (usually) and they are pretty durable for their price point. I can use JBL's daily for about a year before needing to replace them, which i think is the most you can expect for 100 dollar true wireless headphones. At 3 months, the headphones are still working, but as I will explain, I am still about to replace these, and probably try a non JBL product next time around.Battery life is pretty good. I use headphones at work, usually one ear in at a time and can make it all the way through an 8 hour shift without needing to switch the buds out. In this regard, no complaints at all.The sound quality is decent for its price range, and I've never had issues with them falling out of my ears during exercise. You can also use both buds in either ear, they fit well both ways. In some ways, wearing the right bud in the left ear and visa versa can be more comfortable and secure, funny enough. But both ways are perfectly fine. In an ideal world, that should be all you need for exercise headphones to be solid. Unfortunately, the sound quality does not excel, and exercise headphones staying in your ear is a bare minimum, not anything impressive.Con time:These things are TERRIBLE with connection. From the very first day I used these things, they have not connected consistently or well. I will lose Bluetooth connection from walking 5 feet away from my phone and turning my head the wrong way. I don't think this is due to damage from sweat as they have done this from day one, but it has certainly gotten worse as I have used them more, so I can't rule out poor sweat resistance. If you use one ear listening as I often do, you will be incredibly frustrated by how often the ear bud will be "connected," muting your phone but not producing sound. This delay in response can sometimes correct within seconds, but more often requires you to disconnect and reconnect your headphones to get the sound working. I can go on about this with several specific examples, but I think my point here is clear (I use a Samsung S21 ultra, and I have tested two other earbuds and did not have these issues. The Flexes are the problem)Another INSANELY frustrating but more niche issue I have with these headphones is with the app and it's touch controls. I don't like touch controls and always disable them on my earbuds. These headphones will be disabled from touch controls, and then every few days I will put the earbuds in and discover very quickly that touch controls have been turned back on. I have had to manually turn touch controls off at least 30 times in the 3 months I have owned these. If you like touch controls, then this may not be a problem, but if you are someone who ever needs to adjust their headphones at the gym or take them out to talk to someone, it is one of the most frustrating things I have ever experienced.I genuinely hope people see this review and take my advice when I say that you should not buy these headphones. Sure, ive used worse headphones, but they were a lot cheaper than a hundred bucks. Try literally anything else and you will be more satisfied with your experience.
