Hang it over your shoulder, on a hook, or secure it inside the trailer.Things I did not know I needed but extra bonus were:Auracast Technology:Use Auracast to connect multiple Xtreme 4 speakers or other JBL Speakers that support Auracast wirelessly. Sync up speakers inside the trailer or around the campfire for a surround sound experience.Application support:The JBL portable app makes connecting a piece of cake and provides some good EQ profiles. I would have liked a more functional EQ that allowed for custom profiles but maybe I haven’t found them yet.In summary, the JBL Xtreme 4 is a reliable companion for RV, horse trailer and all kinds of outings by providing great sound, durability and charge longevity.

I can wax poetic about the features but you can just read about them in the product description.What you don’t get in the description is a real understanding of the depth and breadth of the sound. I haven’t tried it but I do wonder if I were to plug a usb-c to usb-c cord in the back would it also play the music from a phone in addition to charging it? The dedicated USB-C charger is a really great feature to me as well.2. A more multi functional strap that is shorter.The strap it comes with is really well built and perfect for carrying if you’re outdoors but I’m generally using it in my home so I don’t need such a long strap. What I’ve done is that I’ve made my own version of the strap that has the essence of what I hope JBL will create and sell to me. Why? I don’t have the skill and attention to detail they use when making a product! In the interim if you have some nylon rope and know how to braid you can make your own durable strap that will make it way easier to carry around the house! I’ve attached photos of what I did and again, it’s my own creation and I’m not a designer so please be kind, lol. I hope this helps in case the carrying handle is a deal breaker for you.Overall if you’re in the market for a speaker that can bring the quality, sound and battery life in a reasonably priced package this is the speaker for you.

The carrying strap is very comfortable and has rubber gripping to keep the speaker from moving around. This is a very clever feature. The unit is just the right size. I always recommend plugging in the speaker when possible as it does deliver better sound. On battery mode, the bass is cut just a bit (albiet it still sounds amazing) to preserve battery life. Using AI, the unit will attempt to maximize the battery power for extended playing time. If the battery ever is unable to accept a charge, instead of throwing the whole unit away, just simply replace it via the door on the back. This could theoretically allow you to buy an additional battery to have as a backup for extended battery play if no electricity is available. I could see this in an off grid camping situation. That would give you nearly 60hrs of playback time having 2 batteries.JBL, you have simply knocked this one out of the park! This units technology will be relevant for many years to come and the replaceable battery will keep the unit out of the landfill should the battery no longer hold a charge. Way to go JBL!

It handles anything I throw at it. The speaker produces crystal clear sound whether I'm listening to an acoustic set or a powerful bass-heavy tune. It really handles the highs and lows with ease. Even outdoors, the speaker has plenty of volume and clarity.On top of all this, the speaker has a 24 hour battery life. Also, the battery can be easily replaced if needed. The Xtreme 4 can be paired with other JBL speakers that have Auracast or PartyBoost technology. The action buttons on the speaker are simple to use. You can access the power button, control the volume, play/pause/next/go back on your playlist, go into Bluetooth pairing mode, and connect with certain other JBL speakers. The buttons are cleanly laid out and are easy to use, and they are nicely responsive. There is so much functionality packed into such a simple set up.Thanks to the added features such as the grippy base, the speckled rubber bumpers on the ends, and even grip on the carrying strap, the speaker screams durability. On tops of the protective and proactive touches, the speaker is rated IP67 making it waterproof and dustproof. The loops on the speaker itself are metal as well as the clips on the strap. The build materials are of high quality. Did I mention the buckle on the strap also has a metal bottle opener?All in all, this may be my favorite speaker. The combination of fantastic sound, all-day battery life, great build quality, and convenient portability is unmatched.

Before unplugging it. I tested it plugged in to AC power for an added boost in sound. From playing hip hop to rock and more fast paced EDM the Xtreme played it nice and clear and didn’t distort when I turned it up. Bass was solid and the passive bass radiators were moving some air. Also it’s IP67 so it can handle the Xtreme elements outside especially here in Texas. Another cool and I think is a first for the Xtreme is they added a removable battery to extend the life even more since all batteries lose charge over time. Just knowing I can buy a new battery and bring it back to life again is a major selling point for me. Also with the JBL portable app which I used for different types of music I play. It has 4 to choose from and a custom EQ to customize to your liking. Also has a feature to boost the battery called Playtime boost. It pretty much turns off most of the bass to extend playtime. Would be cool if the speaker had a button on it to activate it or even a button on top for the EQ. But overall I really loved the Xtreme 4 and I’m sure you will too!
