The Bright Rose was a show, it was such that it could compete head-to-head with the masterpieces Gucci Envy for Men and Fahrenheit of Dior. The projection as God commands and longevity was equivalent to 3 sunsets. It was the vanity, rebellious, electrifying fragrance, the Rock Star of its time. The bright Rose of the present, still smells "rich", and retains some of its power, not so potent as before. What I feel is that it lost 50%+ of its essence, its glamor, its quality, which I knew 20 years ago. I gave one to my son, he loves it, because he is a young man entering adolescence, and who at that age does not like the smell of bubble gum of Joop. I can smell beautiful memories from him. He even claimed to me that his bottle is ending, if you are parents already know what that means. I can only say: "cursed are the reformulations". What a disappointment! The Bright Rose has fallen! It took some of the beautiful memories of my youth, I just hope it has the courage to stand up and re-shine for what is, a delicious discharge of liquid energy. 10/10 to the Vintage. 7/10 to the Reformulation.

This is one of the perfumes that I first smelled on a woman that passed in front of me while on a walk. I had to spin on my heels and ask her what she was wearing, it smelled so good. I had never heard of Joop but ordered it this year. This is nice, woodsy great for autumnfallwinter... or a cooler day in the spring. This is one that my ex boyfriend would fight over. He would want this for himself because it smells so good on. This is sexy in a very good way... not overly done, but elegant and refined. The sandalwood in this is alluring and really draws you in. It has a strength that would be reminiscent of the 1980s perfumes. This was one of the first bottles I bought when I first got into the world of mens fragrances almost 4 years ago, and I still really enjoy wearing it. To me it opens light, fresh, and semisweet with prominent florals, a bit of spice, and though its not listed as a note, apple. It keeps that same general vibe throughout, but as a few hours go by the freshness fades away and this kind of creamy vanillalike sweetness from the tonka bean comes up along with some smooth woods. This stuff is great, and probably one of my better compliment getters. I also believe this is one of the most versatile fragrances on the market. I see no age that couldnt pull this off, and it works equally well for casual settings as it does for formal or professional settings. Ive heard several people complain about somewhat poor longevity on this one, but on me it lasts a good 810 hours so I cant complain at all. It seems to project enough to get you noticed without being obnoxious for maybe the first half of its life, then it sits closer to the skin but I still regularly catch whiffs of it after 8 hours. All in all, its not one of my top favorites anymore, but its still amazing stuff and for what it does, I cant say anything bad about it.

Well worth trying

I know very little about scents, perfumes, etc. Was simply experimenting comparatively inexpensively when choosing this. On the first spray, recognised the smell immediately. A little goes a long way and lasts a long time. It seems stronger than my previous Beckham. Was worried it might be on the wrong side of the power-discretion balance. Its popularity may indicate that it isnt. Glad I bought it.
