A very useful set of colanders. Don't know what the previous reviews about? Where else would one drain away liquid if not into a kitchen sink? The sturdy handle allows you to hold it at an angle pointing down, if you can't put it in the sink and you shouldn't have problem with hot steam coming back at your hand.

A very useful set of colanders. Don't know what the previous reviews about? Where else would one drain away liquid if not into a kitchen sink? The sturdy handle allows you to hold it at an angle pointing down, if you can't put it in the sink and you shouldn't have problem with hot steam coming back at your hand.
Great for storage and handy for separating green beans from the snapped ends. I found only one flaw, they nestle so well it is not easy for arthritic hands. If you have strong flexible hands you should not have a problem.
I am in general a fan of JJ products and was expecting this to be as good as other items I have. Sadly not, I found virtually unusable - the handle is so close to the body of the colander (the picture angle is misleading) that it is tricky to hold, it means you can't really get a good grip but have to use just fingers which is fine for small lightweight salad washing only. Even more of a problem, the shape and low position of the handle means fingers are positioned side by side with the holes so if straining cooked food the steam just burns your hand. Very well designed. Little nub feet on the bottom elevate the colander off the ground. The nesting is a great space saver. The large one holds quite a bit, but it's shape still enables it to fit into larger bowls if necessary. The drainage is good and the holes don't "bite" into soft-fleshed foods like pasta or fruits (the way a wire mesh strainer does), making cleaning the colander afterwards easier.

I've used the little one to drain 100g pasta as well as veg and use it to rinse fruit. The handles are designed to be comfortable to hold even when the colander is full. They nestle together stylishly in the cupboard taking up far less space than my huge old thing. The deep sides mean no escaping pasta and explains the smaller size. So pleased I bought these. The shape fits better in my cupboard. The handle makes the safer to use. Having a large and small that neat together is really great. Easy to clean in a hard durable plastic, feels like a great quality product. Super happy with them - 5 * and a definite upgrade from my previous colander. Feel happier with my teens cooking using these due to the well designed handle - less chance of getting scalded.
These separate so you can have one small and one larger colander. Very handy for berries; just spray them to clean them, rinse and hang on your drying rack over the sink. Love these two pieces, because I’m usually just cooking for one. Would be cute in brighter colours, but are the perfect size for all small portions of fruits and veggies.
You can always trust Joseph Joseph products to be unique and innovative in design, great quality, well thought out, simply LOVE these colanders that fit snuggly together the handle is perfect for keeping grip, and free standing. I use the small one for veg peelings and put peeled veg in the larger one for washing. Perfect for washing salads, and draining pasta. Fit nicely in dishwasher, Kept their shape did not warp. Very solid and sturdy, worth every penny!
