Best Harness for Large Dogs
We purchased this in a size 3 for our 140lb Shepherd and man did this make my life easier. First off when I say the W word or grab the leash, the beast goes wild. I mean jumping up and down, knocking things over with his massive tail, yelping in my ear, and while all of this is happening I’m usually wrestling to wrap my arms around him to connect a strap that I weave through a different strap and assure all his limbs are in the proper holes. It is truly a process... or so it was. I was amazed with how quick this just slides on and how easily adjustable it is, especially when you have a dog who does not sit still. My favorite thing about this is that it does not rest/rub in his armpits. Our previous harness seemed too tight on him, but this one is easily adjustable ... My favorite thing about this is that it does not rest/rub in his armpits. Our previous harness seemed too tight on him, but this one is easily adjustable and fits perfectly with extra room to expand if needed. I like the reflective strap across the front of his chest to keep him from pulling and that it clips around him so he can’t slide out of it; we’ve been there and done that. While walking, he tends to get overly excited and lunge towards passing cars at times, so the handle on the back is the perfect touch when needed. You can also remove the velcro side straps on each side that say “Julius-K9” which glow in the dark once charged by light, and order customized ones with phrases such as ‘ask before you pet me’ or your pups name. It is definitely worth every penny and overall we are very pleased with this purchase. He wouldn’t even let me take it off of him when we got home. Probably because he knew he looked so fly.10/10 would definitely recommend for an overly excited, extremely obnoxious, extra large beast of a dog.... Show more

Best harness I have bought
The Julius-K9 harness is the best harness I have bought for my dogs. It is well made and from talking to others who have this harness it should hold up well for a long time. To address some of the other reviews; this is not a 'no pull" harness. On the julius web site it states that it is not a "no pull" harness. A "no pull" harness is a training aid and is made to physically limit the length of the dogs stride and this harness does not do that. It is a "no choke" harness and does not put pressure on the throat like a regular collar, which is great for any dog but especially small and/or short nosed breeds. It is possible for a dog to back out of this harness and if you have a dog that "fights" being in a harness then this harness most likely will not work for you. ... The harness is very easy for the handler to get on and off the dog. A lot of agility dog owners I have talked to use this harness. It is easy to get off the dog at the start of a run but does not pull on the neck like a slip lead. The harnesses run true to size and if you measure your dog correctly you should not have a problem with them fitting properly. Although this harness is a very well made product it is not (and as far as I know nothing is) chew proof. Overall I am very happy with this item. Please note: if you do not like the big Julius K-9 logo on the side strip that comes with the harness do a web search and you can find other companies that do custom replacement patches.... Show more

Disappointed product is more expensive but made more cheaply.
I bought this product sometime last year for my Cocker Spaniel. It seemed to be made well, so I went looking for spare. I got sticker shock. The prices have gone up exponentially. I managed to purchase one on Chewy for a decent price and received another shock. The product is now made without metal. The D ring and the piece for the velcro are no longer metal. I find this to be very disappointing. As a D ring should be made of metal.I would not recommend unless the metal is placed back on the harness.... Show more

Great Harness! Sturdy and Durable!
This harness is one of the best quality harnesses I personally have found. It is well-padded and stitched together very nicely. The velcro also holds much better than I was expecting for both the chest strap and the patches. It also has loops on both sides for you to attach pouches to the harness. The loop for the leash is also very thick. It took a minute for my boy to get used to it, as he's never had a vest type harness before, but has no problems with it now. It is so easy to put on and take off and doesn't hinder movement for him at all.The patches that come with the harness just have the brand name on them, but you can buy different ones separately to suit you and your dog. All but the customizable ones come in a pack of two, as far as I'm aware. My only ... MoreThis harness is one of the best quality harnesses I personally have found. However, I'm pretty sure there are some designs that come with a metal clip if you order through the Julius-K9 website, as well as the customizable patches.... Show more

Made our big dog into the perfect walker
We have a reactive 75lb Airedale that was ok to walk on a regular collar until he saw deer or other dogs, which caused him to go into a throat wrenching battle with us no matter how much we trained him or what collars we tried. This harness was absolutely magic. We snapped this on and he stopped pulling altogether and does a natural heel to our side with this harness. He still thinks about reacting but never really pulls anymore. I wish I had this for my past dogs!... Show more

Max Loves His Harness
Our Beagador Max (Beagle/Lab Mix) would constantly make himself gag or choke when walking with a leash attached his neck collar. This harness solved all those issues! Max now enjoys his walks and I think he actually feels more secure when wearing it. The harness is made extremely well with high quality materials that are “canine tough”. Thanks Chewy for always stocking such great products!... Show more

Not up to usual Julius quality
It seems the quality on these harnesses is slowly going down hill. The pictures on the website are inaccurate. My harness arrived with a plastic leash ring. The front straps reflective piece is not like the picture and finally the handle on top used to be a piece that was easy to grab in a pinch. They have now made this is a Velcro piece,I’d imagine to save money, but it velcros itself down, which makes it difficult to grab which makes the handle useless, again, this is not pictured... The perfect choice for both dog and owner.
This harness is absolutely perfectly designed. It is super tough, the fastenings and materials are obviously of a high quality. It is really easy to adjust and fit. There are little features such as the carry handle (in case your dog needs to be lifted away from hostile dogs or over obstacles), and reflective trim to reflect car headlights when crossing the road in the dark. The velcro 'Julius K9' badges on the side can be replaced with personalised tags, and can also be used for little Julius K9 bag attachments. I bought the neon orange harness and matching lead. My dog looks smart and stands out (which is a plus considering the all too common poor levels of driver awareness when we cross the roads).... Show more

Velcro strap is a total pain - other wise good
Our 110 lb St. Bernard puppy is full of energy and much stronger than us! This harness gives us a shot at keeping her under control - much better than all the others we tried like Gentle Leader. We got this harness when her trainer told us to get it or else. It does work, but putting on and taking off the Velcro strap that goes around her body is practically impossible. The clip in front works fine (you can adjust it once and just clip and unclip. But the Velcro strap grabs her fur and is practically impossible to tighten correctly or remove when you are done. Why didn't they use two clips? That would have been much easier and safer as the Velcro is often too tight or too loose no matter how hard we try to get it on consistently.... Show more
