The E4 is smaller and quieter. It doesn’t have the milk frother but I was using a separate frother from Breville anyway. The coffee quality is the same or better with the E4. But the lines got stuck up on the 2 cup, and bypass coffee. But it still worked for grinding and hot water. We had a J5 for 14 years and it finally gave out. We bought my parents a J5 and they have had it 13 years. I never used the milk attachments as I am mostly a coffee or expresso person. This E4 is NEXT level from my J5. The frinder the brewing mechanism is far superior to the J5 which we loved. Im giving it 5 stars with just one little complaint. There is no small led light to illuminate the cup area. I noticed it right away brewing in low light. No big deal, otherwise perfect. Best coffee that i have ever had!!
We’ve owned three other Jura superautomatics in the last 20 years and all made outstanding coffee and a myriad of different milk variations, but always quickly reverted to using only the pure coffee settings. This new machine goes to the heart of a purely simple and perfectly brewed cup of wonderful coffee. Each individual cup can be very easily adjusted on the fly to produce just the right brew to suit your taste at the moment without having to go into a complicated menu. And the kicker is that it is twice as simple and half, or less , of the price of the more complex machines. So if you’re a pure coffee person, this could be exactly the machine for you.
I had the Impressa for at least 10 years before the grinder broke. Rather than spend $450.00 to get it repaired I decided to get the E4 because I only use the coffee feature anyway. The E4 is smaller and lighter, which I like and the coffee gives me that crema that I love in a cup of coffee. You have to fill the water tank daily and add coffee every other day if you use the machine on a regular basis. That isn't a big deal to me because I always cleaned the machine daily anyway. This E4 is only used for two people so the size is just right. Very happy so far, which is only about a month.
This is a basic coffee/espresso maker. It does not have a lot of adjustment capability. So far, I have not found a coffee or an espresso that suits my tastes. I am using the exact same coffee & the same roast as I was using with my previous machine, the J6. But, this one makes it all taste quite different. I'm sorry to say that I cannot afford to return it in exchange for a more sophisticated model. My husband & I are now on a fixed income & $2500 +/- is way out of our budget.I just hope I can keep playing with this one & get the coffee taste quality that I am accustomed to with the J6.
I love this machine. I have a E8 and this makes much better coffee. The E8 has a coarse grind and this has a finer grind which I think is better. Coffee is also hotter. I I rarely made the milk based drinks so when I needed a machine for the beach, I went with this. It took me a long time to decide but the k-pods were so bad I finally clicked buy. So happy I did. I go to bed looking forward to waking up and having my coffee. If you just want coffee or espresso, this is the machine for you. The only tricky part is the interface. It's not easy to figure out. It took me an hour to set up because could not get the water hardness setting working. After that, smooth sailing.
My husband and I went to the Crate and Barrel store to check out the Jura coffee maker. One of us likes espresso and the other coffee. We also like to be able to make both decaf and caf easily. And we did not want to have to brew an entire carafe. Enter the Jura! Beautiful looking and brews a delicious cup of both espresso and coffee. Easy to use and looks very nice on the counter. We are very happy we can start and end the day with excellent cups of coffee.
