According to my Amazon account I've bought this 8 times. It works. You just gotta know how to use it and the quirks that make it work for you. It's the only grey-reducing wash of it's kind as far as I know. It's a much more natural look as opposed to dying your beard which more often than not looks fake and silly. I'm pretty sure this has gone through a formula change since I first tried it. Early on, it used to turn your skin black under your beard and it was tough to clean that up. It would stain the skin. Clean up the edges of your beard with some damp toilet paper or something so you don't accidentally stain your cheeks or neck-line. I get in the shower and try not to wet my face till the very end of washing my body. I do my hair and face last when I apply this stuff, but I only do it once a week (after my weekly shave). It's on my beard for about 10 minutes and then I wash with a scrubby and it all comes off the skin. It's subtle on the beard, but I don't want a drastic change. If you are completely trying to get rid of your grey, then you'll have to use this over and over. I don't mind the grey. I just try to reduce and darken it a tad bit. This all works for me which is why I say there's a learning curve depending on the results you want. I'll continue to use the stuff. A bottle lasts me about 5 months according to my Amazon. It's worth it.

Can we stop with the unnecessary fragrances?

I see all the negative reviews about how this product doesn’t work like it used to. I couldn’t even get that far. Tried it once and was so repelled by the overpowering fragrance (why does beard colorant need to be fragranced at all is the question). Admittedly, I’m sensitive to fragrances added to products in general and do my best to avoid them. Even after washing my face three times with soap I couldn’t get the scent of this stuff off my face. Threw the tube right in the trash.

Damage I don't know

As a black I was hoping this would work. But after a month or so of use, I noticed that I can literally pull hair follicles out of my beard. Literally the white bump follicle. Also my hair is extremely weak, it comes off everywhere I can't brush it without a lot of hair coming out. Of course we all know that dying your hair does make it a weaker state but for a beard it seems like I should just cut it due to the damage. Of course I followed a directions.

Don’t buy this!!!

I don’t understand this product ! It doesn’t work ! make your hands and fingers dirty, even if I try to use it with gloves it still doesn’t do anything anything it doesn’t reduce white hairs it keeps everything is the same such a waste of money it’s not working. I was completely shocked because this brand usually is very good. I’ve been using the hair color for the beard and it was great but this one just doesn’t do anything

Now after much testing and attention to results I can say with confidence that it works best used daily and will provide with a less than obvious result. At first it was easy to say it wasn't working at all but its not meant to. An instructional point they make is to not use your fingertips but only your palms to work the product into ur beard. Good luck with that. I just use latex gloves to apply, problem solved. Also, after you apply the product its best to wipe away and excess on your skin, ears, lips, nostrils etc. Sometimes it stained. Other times it did not.Overall good experience and I will continue to use it.

Good but gradual coverage

This product is very easy to apply, I have been using gloves to apply the product to avoid staining my hands. I normally use it while having a shower as this prevents any splashes. The product lathers well and washes away well without leaving any marks. I've also noticed my beard hair to be more softer after the wash which is a positive . The results are very gradual but I can see a difference in my beard hair colour and it feels like it is blending the grey and black together so the greys are not noticeable as much. Would recommend but I would rather have instant results by using an alternative dye.

More natural looking hair coloring

I like that the resulting hair color looks more natural. It doesn't eliminate gray so much as it reduces it. The more often you use it the darker the hair gets. So over time the end of each hair will have been treated more often than at the root. So the hair nearest the root will be lighter. It results in a more layered coloring than a solid color which in older men tends to not look natural. I like this product a lot better than traditional hair coloring products.

I thought I'd go ahead and leave a review, since this is my second tube of the GX and I really love it! Guys, this is easy to use, and it does a good job of not looking obvious. I also used this to color back my grays that were mixed with blonde highlights and my natural medium/dark brown hair. Too many colors going on, yet I didn't want to look like I dumped shoe polish in my hair. This exceeded my expectations, based on the past results I have had when I've wanted to get my hair back to brown and have used dark hair color. I also did not want to further damage and dry out my hair, nor did I want it to take color out of my hair when the product eventually fades. I also have very stubborn hair, so I know that even salon treatments at 10x the cost of this tube that lasts for months for me (even with long, thick hair), that some gray will resist color or the gray comes back within a wash. I don't get upset at that, I'm a pragmatist, and if you have stubborn gray, you might still see some. If that's alright with you, this will be all you need. I'm now trying the 2 in 1, because I use a lot of conditioner, I think this will help me to not have to put conditioner in after rinsing, and then have to rinse it again, potentially taking some of the fresh color out. Anyway, I love it, I think JFM should attempt a "unisex" marketing approach because I can't be the only chick that thinks this is far better than the messy coloring treatments "for the ladies." But DON'T change the formula, please! I will be back for more!PLEASE NOTE: Do buy some latex or disposable gloves and be sure to wash out any splats that might be in your shower or anyplace else, this does dye your nailbeds for a few days and it can stain tile, etc.

Works!

It works great, but be patient. It'll take about five washes before the hair darkens. Follow the instructions exactly as they're laid out. After that comes the maintenance phase; use it once or twice weekly. It is a good idea to do a skin sensitivity test before using. The scent is strong at first, but it fades away within an hour. I tried other shampoos, but none were as effective as JFM. Its quality is nothing near any other products or henna-based dyes.
