I’ve been a huge Kamado Joe fan for a while - I love the smoker and think it has been the best addition to my bbq/smoking tools…but his “joetisserie”Is so poorly designed…my joe doesn’t even close? How do you not make a mold that fits the ID of the Joe and closes with the hydronic hinges? I want my money back for this terrible design.

I have the Classic 2. I bought this to do my turkey for thanksgiving. Seeing a bunch of videos with the skin too burned, I decided to do the JoeTisserie turkey with the heat deflector plates installed. This requires the divide and conquer rack to be in place. However...the JoeTisserie was designed with a lot smaller diameter than the diameter of the KC Classic 2. There is literally like an 1-2" difference on the inside diameter. This is completely unnecessary for the record...just poor design. The result is that the JoeTisserie cannot fit in the gap between the outside of the divide and conquer rack and inside of the grill itself. It literally has to sit on one side of the rack. This creates air gaps. For a product that is supposedly SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED for the ... MoreI have the Classic 2. I bought this to do my turkey for thanksgiving. I’ve made plenty of spatchcock chicken in the past but a rotisserie chicken blows it out of the water! Plus cooking directly over open coals makes the Kamado Joe super easy to cook on and minimal cleanup at the end. I’m sure there are more uses than just chicken with the basket accessory but even if I just cook chicken, it was worth every penny!

I bought this because I love doing chicken on it and I hate the way store bought rotisserie chicken tastes. It's not fresh and by the time you get home it's been sitting in it's own cold juices and the meat is cold and the skin is all soft and rubbery; not to mention the lack of flavor some stores give it. I want fresh, off the fire, hot, crispy skin chicken. You can do a butterflied chicken where you cut open the back and lay the chicken flat on the grill and that works too but I feel like in my experience the skin doesn't get quite as crispy as rotisserie. So I bought it and man oh man does it deliver. The motor is strong enough to hold the chickens I've used and turned with no issues. It does require a plug so you need to have an extension cord available. I think ... MoreI bought this because I love doing chicken on it and I hate the way store bought rotisserie chicken tastes. Good construction, I think the motor could be a little stronger and I can see on heavier cuts it might have problems, but overall for a 5lb bird so far, doable.
When I bought the Joetisserie years ago, I was over the moon! Chicken, lamb for souvlaki meat etc. Absolutely awesome when it's running. Unfortunately, I lost my spit-rod during a house-move (totally my fault). I went to a local supplier here in Aus. They can't order the part individually. When I contacted Kamado Joe they said since it's Aus they can't help.It was like $300+ when I bought it years ago and I can't buy a replacement rod. Best solution is to grind down a rod from Bunnings which is kind of absurd...
When I built my outdoor kitchen, the featured item was a Kamodo smoker. I researched exhaustively, and finally decided on the Kamado Joe. At the time of purchase, there was a deal happening that either the pizza accessory or the rotisserie came with the purchase. I bought the Kamado primarily for its flexibility as a smoker etc, so decided to go with the rotisserie. Can I just say this thing totally rocks! After roasting several whole chickens, I just roasted a turkey breast, and soon will venture into Ribs, briskets etc. I have hosted several parties and served the chickens and to a person they talk about how delicious it is, how juicy it is and how easy it is to prepare. The motor is super quiet, and the bar is heavy-duty. I've actually had 2 birds on without any ... MoreWhen I built my outdoor kitchen, the featured item was a Kamodo smoker. The motor is super quiet, and the bar is heavy-duty. I've actually had 2 birds on without any issues. If you are thinking about getting this, I couldn't recommend it more. It fits the kamado perfectly, is easy to set up and while I didn't think I would use it much, its become by favorite aspect of the Kamado Joe. Because the quality of the entire set cup is so high, I'm going to get the pizza cooker next!
My wife gave this to me for my birthday and I absolutely love it! The build quality is good and the spit is strong enough to use for turkeys I have done a 12 lb and 14 lb with no issues. They were some of the best I have ever had - the mas tender and juicy and perfectly cooked. My test runs were on chickens and they are great - next the lamb leg!The wedge shape seals fairly well for lid closure and the aluminum ring is sturdy. I will say it does not perfectly fit the Big Joe's Interior/Exterior dimensions. Do not expect it to line up perfectly ( not sure why it is this way but it does not seem to impeded performance). I did deduct a star from the design category for this. Everything else is 5-Star.Clicking the switch reverses the rotation direction which is ... MoreMy wife gave this to me for my birthday and I absolutely love it! HELP!I bought the Joetisserie and have had EXTREME trouble in trying to control the pit temperature with the lid closed. Yesterday I cooked a 10 # turkey with a setpoint pit temp of 225. The temp climbed to almost 400 *. By that time I had shut the vents off and the temp continued to climb. I closed the vents around 275* to no avail. Finally at 400* I pulled the Joetisserie out closed the lid and the temp started dropping. After about an hour, i finally got the temp down to 225 -250, and cooked the turkey on the grate.I am most disappointed with the Joetisserie as it appears that I can't cook with the lid closed?I sure would appreciated some help. I've tried it 3 times with the same results. Is there anyway to contact the people who have had a good ... MoreHELP!I bought the Joetisserie and have had EXTREME trouble in trying to control the pit temperature with the lid closed. I have the classic 2 and have bought cast iron , the ash basket , bought the smoke ware vent because the dome that came with it is not near as nice and binds up way too easy. But with all the add on’s still love using it weekly . Now I get the joetisserie . With high hopes I installed and what a failure in the fit , absolutely pathetic that it doesn’t fit.I went back to see if I ordered the wrong one but nope. Just how it fits. As pricey as all the accessories are one would expect them to fit and be able to use with the divide and concur set up.Now I’m in for over 2k with accessories and really wish I had looked into other smokers that are more versatile as I do like multiple types of cooking.I was going to order the doughjoe next but I won’t be ordering any ... MoreI have the classic 2 and have bought cast iron , the ash basket , bought the smoke ware vent because the dome that came with it is not near as nice and binds up way too easy. I have always wanted to own a rotisserie, but was a little hesitant due to the cost of the JoeTisserie. That said, The product is very easy to use, the metal components are high quality and clean-up is a breeze, and the both the leg of lamb and the whole chicken I cooked turned out amazingly. Thank you for such a great product!
