Some of us still work from home, If you have a desk wide enough (or a desk with shelves above the monitor, like mine), the Kanto YU4 is a perfect active speaker pair. It has a wonderful kevlar woofer that delivers punch and quick response. The only think it lacks is a USB input. This means that if you connect it to a workstation or laptop (Mac, PC, Chromebook, Linux), you will need a USB to toslink converter. I recommend the Topping D10S ($100). Better still, you can get an external DAC and headphone amp to sit in between these speakers and your computer. If connecting to a turntable, the YU4 is a great choice as the built-in phono amp is excellent. Plus you get two toslink inputs for a streaming box (like a Bluesound Node) or a CD player. I like the bass that comes from this system. But thankfully there is a subwoofer port in case you want to add one. Overall, I think this is the desktop home office speaker worth considering. If you have more space and want a more formal listening room, then you probably want a Class D amplifier and full size bookshelf speakers on stands.

Using these on a desk with the s4 stands.Pros:- Look awesome, clean- Sound great (especially female vocals)- Balanced, nothing sounds bad- So many connectivity options- Sound great on bluetoothCons- Bass isn't a strong suite. Theres enough that it doesn't sound thin but could use a sub- Bluetooth has fair bit of lag (~0.5 sec)

These speakers produce an amazing sound given their small size. They are very well balanced, and the included remote allows you to adjust the bass and treble to further fine tune the sound. I've turned these speakers up and there was no distortion at higher decibel levels. Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with these YU4's. Speakers this small shouldn't produce such a full bodied sound. I am very happy with this purchase.

I've had a pair of Kanto YU2 speakers desktop speakers for several years now and always loved the sound quality. When my daughter purchased an Audio-Technica Wireless Turntable (AT-LP60WH-BT), I decided to buy her the YU4 speakers so she had a little more power to expand the sound when she moves into her own apartment. The speakers look great and are very easy to set up. While the Bluetooth connection is great for playing music off her phone, the sound really shines when hardwired into the turntable. The sound is clean with good bass tones to provide a great listening experience. I would highly recommend these speakers.
Outstanding speakers. Make sure to open your audio console and turn off ALL equalization and sound effects. At first, the sound was terrible, but once I cancelled all the equalization and sound effects, the speakers truly shined. Highly recommended.
- For the aspiring musicians out there, these are not monitor quality. Go with something bigger/fuller range. - The bluetooth doesn't seem to have a huge range, but its still a very welcome feature. - If these are for a desktop, and your motherboard dosn't an optical output, then spend the $60 and get a cheap-but-half-decent internal audio card. The amp picks up a decent amount of the background noise from the 12 RGB fans going off like a Christmas tree in your case. (Note: They do not provide a toslink cable in the box, so pick one up for $10 if you are going this route) - Probably an isolated incident, but one of the included batteries leaked in my case and i got a bunch of melted paint from the battery casing on my hands. It didn't do any harm, but I just wanted ... More- For the aspiring musicians out there, these are not monitor quality. It didn't do any harm, but I just wanted to mention it as a side note. Be careful out there, kids. - I've worked as a music executive for about 20 years, so the above is a fairly informed opinion. Come at me bro. - All in all, good fidelity, great aesthetics, and definitely lots of bang for your buck.
These are very clear speakers. The highs & mids are clear. The bass doesn't hit or go as low as you may wish, but that is perfect for me. I am a novice audiophile, but I would consider these the best budget friendly speakers you can purchase due to quality & audio performance. I connect these via RCA cables & they work flawlessly. They also have an auto-turn off feature - terrific for those who do not want the hassle of turning the device on & off each use.
I bought these over the AudioEngine because of the built in toslink to use with my older Macbook Pro. However, regardless of the cable used or the computer used, these speakers emit a high-pitched whine when using toslink. Same whine whether on Toslink 1 or 2. It's annoying and if I had discovered it sooner, I would have returned them. Yes, computer outputs only stereo -- not 5.1 or pcm. Otherwise these sound okay with a sub.
Great sound in a small package (near audiophile range). Added bonus of a remote control and pre-amp for a record player. Excellent first step into becoming an audiophile. With Downloads playing through via my iPhone you can really hear the difference in excellent recorded music and very marginal ones...highly recommend... my next step is to add a sub-woofer and then a record player.
