Karrera 39in Electric Guitar - Black

This is the second Karrera Strat copy I've bought thru MyDeal. The first, a $93 sunburst, had a much better sound and I was so impressed I decided to buy another!But alas they were sold out and I had to buy the slightly dearer blue model which is nowhere near as good. The sound is tinnier and has less volume. The whammy bay was way too stiff - I had to remove one of the springs to get it working (they were a much heavier gauge than on the other guitar).The knobs and pickups are a slightly different design, as is the headstock. The nut is atrocious on both, with the high E string (AND the B on the sunburst) muffled and weak-sounding due to the poorly constructed groove.I have bought new nuts to fix this, and a new file to do a fret job on both (they really need it if you want a normal low action) and reckon I'll be pretty happy then, especially with the sunburst which has a birdseye maple neck. This blue guitar came with a rock maple neck which was different.I don't know if these guitars came out of different factories but they are definitely not the same. If you are prepared to do the work setting them up you end up with an okay guitar at a super cheap price. The sunburst sounds just like a real Stratocaster but this blue one doesn't - a bit more like a trebly Telecaster. Disappointed that the blue one doesn't have the same sound - had I known that I wouldn't have bought it!

Great sound at a great price. As usual the action is way too high straight out of the factory and has to be lowered heaps. It's a pity the workmanship is poor on the fretboard - buzzes and rattles from different fret heights - with 3 or 4 popping up at the sides, exposing sharp edges that cut my palms as I slide up and down. I had to tap them down and file them smooth.At a bargain price of $93 you can't expect perfection but to my ears it sounds like a genuine stratocaster. It just needs a lot of work on its playability. Mighty sound!

Excellent guitar

This is an excellent guitar for the price. Great for a first guitar. We bought it for my daughter so she could play in the school band. She says it plays well. Looks good too.

I cannot wait to see my grandson's face on Christmas morning when he opens his gift to find exactly what he asked for. A red electric guitar. I love everything about it.When my eldest grandson asked for an electric guitar for Christmas, I didn't think I could afford his wish. Excellent value.

Not Great Even Considering The Price

I was actually after a cheap guitar just for the body. However after I received it, due to the poor packaging the painted edges of the guitar wore the very thin coat of black paint. This was also due to the round overs of the body not being properly rounded over with a sharp edge to it - almost like it's a kit guitar, quick spray and assembly and sold. This aside, the frets ends are extremely sharp and would need a considerable amount of work to bring it up to playing speed. Heaven help if you give this to a new player to learn on. I didn't even bother looking at whether the fretboard was level as it also had other issues. The last and final issue was that the electronics didn't work. Hi there, guitar is good but I was a little bit dissapointed that purple paint is not mettallic like photo shows, and weight is a touch on the heavy side and base likes to have it's own sitting position, other than that it's ok. very cool for price as well and I would bye another but black this time as black is universal for for us die hard's. thanks for great deal and all round thumbs up ! Wrong Titled Item

I bought this thinking it was a bass guitar because it says bass but as the picture suggests it is a normal electric guitar which I admit is my fault for not looking but please change the name of the item :(
