Kate Somerville +retinol Vita C Power Serum

I usually love Kate Somerville products...I do like this serum but I don't love it! I so badly wanted to love it! This serum is a white-ish/yellow-ish creamy serum that has Retinol and Vitamin C which I love! It's not sticky at all and doesn't have much of a scent! It is extremely effective and helps with Brightening skin and fine lines and wrinkles! It has made a difference in my skin texture, fine lines, skin tone and pores! But, the reason it only gets 4 stars is because I can't get passed the fact that it just sits on top of my skin!! It doesn't absorb at all!! I literally feel it on my skin!! I can't stand it when I can feel a product just sitting there! This might be great for someone with dry to extremely dry skin! I plan on using this serum because it was pricey...but, sadly, I won't be re-purchasing it! But, just because I don't like the way it feels on my skin doesn't mean that it will bother you!! Everyone is different! It's definitely worth trying because it does produce results!! Excellent Serum

I have been using a gentle retinol with great results for a few years now. I was interested to try this one as my very sensitive skin responds well to Kate Somerville products and I find it hard to fit actives into my routine with a reactive skin so it is great to have retinol and vitamin C together. The serum itself absorbs easily into my skin it has an orange scent which I like but it dissipates quickly. Results wise my skin is smoother, fine lines less noticeable, skin tone more even and my skin looks brighter. This is a mid strength retinol but for my sensitive skin it is on the stronger side. This serum can be drying but if you use a thick moisturiser after or an extra layer and for the next night or so I have no irritation. With once a week use I have had no peeling or flaking just much improved skin. I would not use this on my neck or around my eyes as it would be too strong for me. This is a great serum if you want to address fine lines, wrinkles and brighten at the same time and it really tightens the pores on my nose. If you have not used a retinol product before or have a sensitive skin build up use slowly, this is an amazing serum with two potent ingredients and has made a big difference to my skin.

Understand that using other products in conjunction with a retinol might cause a bad reaction.I have highly sensitive skin and I am extremely particular about what I put on it and I didn't have any issue at all with this product as long as I used it once or maybe twice per week and I didn't use any other actives at the same time (i.e. I stopped using the exfolikate cleanser while I was using this and only used the goat milk cleanser). It is absolutely NORMAL to peel from ANY retinol.All of that being said, this product has been hands down the best retinol I have used (and I have tried many from the ordinary up to prescription strength). I like the resurfacing feel that I first notice from this. After continued use I like that my skin just feels softer and make up goes on smoother.I suggest you buffer this with a moisturizer (not an occlusive one, because yuck) either before or after applying if you either have sensitivities to retinol or you think this may be too harsh. You have to ease into retinols and this one is on the stronger side. If you want a baby retinol try the First Aid Beauty one for a few months before going to this one. Also make sure your skin is completely dry before whacking this on. And wear sunscreen for crying out loud!!

My fine lines on my forehead have completely disappeared and my skin is GLOWING! I didn’t think one product could make this much of a difference much less this fast! I cannot wait to see the long term results considering how great it’s working already! The packaging is also really great. Not only is it visually appealing but since retinol and vitamin C shouldn’t be exposed to bright light or air the packaging is perfect because the bottle is opaque and air right. It also dispenses the perfect amount to cover my face in an even layer with just one pump so even though the product is a bit on the expensive side it will last a long time with only one pump per use. I love that it’s quick and easy to use and that it has both vitamin c and retinol so it cuts down on the number of steps in my routine. The scent is light and pleasant, it smells sort of citrusy but isn’t overpowering at all it just smells fresh. I have dry sensitive skin and haven’t had any problems with sensitivity and It leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished. I truely believe I have found myself a holy grail product that I will continue to use over and over, and that I can recommend to my friends and subscribers with confidence that they too will LOVE the results.

Peeling/Burns/irritation/bumps

This was the worst skincare product I have ever tried. I learned after buying this to never use retinol and vitamin c together. It first gave my skin a burn and peeled on my cheeks. I thought it was sunburn. Then my face felt like it was in fire when I was doing my skincare routine. Then it gave me bumps all over my cheeks and extreme redness. I hate this should be put off the market.

Texture

I've received this as a little sample bottle which gave me an opportunity to try it over several weeks. I used it fairly sparingly a couple of times a week only. I didn't feel it was as strong as other reviews suggest, so in a way no skin sensitivity or tightness issues (perhaps because I was using it occasionally rather than constantly).The thing I didn't like about this product is tecture - it's very waxy and feels like it's only sitting on top of the skin. And the scent wasn't my favourite either.Skin felt ok after use, but nothing outstanding no special glow.. I prefer other retinol products such as Sunday Riley Luna oil.

This Really Works!

I’m 43 who has battled skin issues since I was a teen, facing acne, large pores, to spots, wrinkles, and etc... Just took this pic yesterday and I am really like my skin in a very long time. As a result all my skin issues, I’ve become a skin care junkie using and reading a ton about products. This product has helped significantly minimized my forehead lines, pores, and darks spots! That so exciting as that’s dead skin coming off! After a couple weeks of using 2-3 this time a week, I then slough off my dead skin to reveal new using the Amore pacific exfoliator. I give it a break and start process over again. I also use a different brand vitamin c serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen. But that’s it, with this being a staple. I hope Nordstrom never stops carrying!

USE LESS OFTEN

I wholeheartedly believe that the reason most of the people who end up disliking this product is because they’re getting retinol burn, peeling sensitivity or dryness. That is most likely because it’s being over used. This product works best if you use it less often. Even on the website it says don’t use it for more than four days out of the week. It takes a very little amount of product, and only to be used every few days & only at night. Use like this you’ll get excellent results… it feels funny to say this but using a this Product less often, will give you better results- but with this product it’s 100% true because you don’t run the risk of getting desensitized by it. Vitamin C Retinol power serum

I absolutely love this product from the first day I started to use it.Firstly, the packaging is brilliant, because the pump allows sufficient serum for one use rather than giving you too much in one go. The pump never gets blocked and the size of the container is small which is great.The serum is very soft, non drying and neither oily or greasy. It has never affected my skin (70yrs old) meaning I have no irritation, flare-ups etc.A first class serum that I will continue to use as no other products matches this.

I just finished my first bottle. The serum is lightweight and not sticky, as some vitamin C serums can be. I noticed my post inflammation marks not getting as pigmented and fade faster. My skin tone is quite even atm, and this is the first serum that I really noticed a difference with. I just love it! One small remark is about the pump, which gave me some difficulties near the end of use. But the serum itself is wonderful!!
