Ashame of the direction litehaul has gone

I would buy a new bag in this series every 1-2 years. It was the ultimate blend of “lite” backpacking, hiking yet stylish and practical to bring on a plane. The evolution of the bag is ashame, netting and drink pockets over time were removed, latest model even removed the waist strap. It’s just a glorified duffel bag now. (gone are it’s days of being a bag for the adventurer)

Excellent carry on, not quite ergonomic

I bought this for a four week trip in South America as I wanted to only do carry on.Pros: I flew multiple times and was never asked to check it in. I’ve been able to pack lots in, it’s very sturdy. Top pocket is handy and I like the fact it doesn’t have lots of straps.Cons: Water bottle compartment can’t fit a bottle though if it’s packed to the brim.No lockable zip on laptop compartment section. The main issue I have is back pain. You’re not able to adjust the straps higher or lower for the length of the torso like you can with the Osprey Fairview (which I considered buying over this). As a 5’6 woman, I’m not sure it’s a good fit for my torso. I’ve adjusted the straps multiple times but I always have dull back pain after wearing it around airports/ to and from ... MoreI bought this for a four week trip in South America as I wanted to only do carry on.Pros: I flew multiple times and was never asked to check it in. Fantastic Bag with a small flaw

Love this bag inside and out. (Haven't used it yet) I have only one compliant to which could only be a design flaw. One of the most important pockets (Laptop/Electronic sleeve) has only 1 zip that is lockable (when you would need 2 to actually lock it) If you want the flexibility of checking in this bag, or leaving it under a bus, you will be hindered by the lack of security to what could be possibly the most valuable pocket of the whole bag. Hoping Katmandu can explain this. The zip and pocket is in a sneaky placement and can be somewhat hidden, although I wouldn't risk it with my valuables 1 zip away.Purchased the 12L Litehaul with it, they both are really great bags.

Fantastic backpacking psck
13 May 2022

I have been backpacking with this bag for the past 6 months and love it. The fully opening front section makes packing and finding clothes easy. The padded hip belt is great to keep the bag weight on hips and off shoulders too. The bag fits in budget airlines carry on limits too for size and fits easily in plane overhead bins. Three improvements i would suggest for the bag are: 1. The top storage section should open to the other direction, if you open the top section when the bag is on its back the contents fall out. 2. The laptop section is unable to be properly locked, the zip has a loop for a lock but there is no lock on the bag to keep the zip closed. 3. Would highly recommend this pack for a carry on holiday bag

Great travel backpack

This is an excellent day pack which meets carry on restrictions for domestic and international flights. Has a clever system for covering up the backpack straps making it suitable for conveyer belts etc

Solid Travel backpack

The litehaul 38L is a great backpack for a number of reasons. It has ample space in in the main storage space, allowing you to pack in your own style. The top compartment is a great space to get the gear you want to have quick access to, especially when the bag is slid away. The only criticism I have is the laptop compartment is one big area, where any laptop would fall to the bottom and require additional protection. Some form of suspension in this area, as found in other Kathmandu packs would have made this better

Super Versatile Bag
5 January 2024

I have loved this bag so much I have bought 2 over the last few years! Super versatile with travel options, either a backpack or carry bag, really absorbs so much luggage , have had over 15kg fit into this bag though a comfortable 10kg for most trips. I have been around the world with these bags and couldn't recommend them highly enough!

The newest design is messy and unclean
17 March 2023

The newest design of 2022 has really bad issues with looking “Dirty” caked with dust and piling before i even bought the bag.I followed manufacturers specifications at home to clean it, but it didn’t help. There’s white spotty stains all over. The previous bag design was incredible, and the fabric design ensured you had a fresh looking bag even when trekking through dirty areas. The hexgon patterns tarnish very easilyI may look to return this one and wait to see if they bring back the better design of 2018-2020 later on.You can even see this issue in the advertising pictures of the black colour at the bottom of the bag. It’s caked in a dusty pile.

Very well made but not good fit
2 November 2019

I bought this backpack really excited to use it for one bag travelling. It's really well built and has enough organization. There is one large clamshell opening so you can pack it like a suitcase, a side zip for a laptop, a top organization pocket (although that eats into the main pocket), and a side water bottle pocket. I packed the bag out with what I would take travelling for a week, but the backpack fully loaded did not sit well on my back. There was a gap that I could not close between my back and the backpack. I cinched the straps to be as tight as possible but that gap remained, which made the backpack feel extra heavy since the weight was pulling away from me. I'm 5'2" female. I was very sad but had to return the backpack since it would not be comfortable to ... MoreI bought this backpack really excited to use it for one bag travelling. Well Built, Unique and Sleek.

I purchased this bag as a one bag travel solution for business trips that take me overseas. I liked the pocket layout, the ability to zip away and hide what seems to be a bomber backpack harness and straps. Build quality and materials are all solid and I've no doubt this bag would last a long time.Ultimately I ended up returning this bag because it proved to be too small for what I wanted to carry. That's a very subjective thing and I hate to ding the bag too much for that. 38L may be exactly what others need. For me I found the bag to be too shallow in thickness (depth while laying out in front of you to pack) and when using the top auxiliary pockets too much interior space was sacrificed. The laptop compartment opening was also a little tight to get my 15" MBP ... MoreI purchased this bag as a one bag travel solution for business trips that take me overseas. The laptop compartment opening was also a little tight to get my 15" MBP (2015 Retina model) in and out of. One other small gripe is that the water bottle pocket kind of interferes with the side handle for carrying the bag like a suitcase, and moves that handle a bit off-center. This could have been done differently and was my only other minor gripe.
