This is my 2nd MP piano to own. I also bought a MP6 for my last church. Our contemporary worship leader got another for his ministry and we bought a third which traveled. When I moved to another church, I bought one for me. Then, the MP7SE came out. I couldn't resist the significant upgrade on the already stellar piano of the MP6. After playing all the big name competitors and a few not so big names, I scratch my head as to why this isn't the biggest seller and most talked about. Others are almost twice the price. The two 9' sampled pianos EX (my fav) and the SK-EX keep me immersed for hours of playing. You may notice that another premiere stage piano manufacturer touts Kawai action in their top of the line stage piano. Billy Joel uses a Kawai controller for his concerts. The MP7SE action is not too heavy for synth or organ sounds and the keyboard is not as heavy as most that have the real piano action.Another feature that I love is the controller faders. These can control EQ, internal or external sounds. I use it mainly for: Faders 1 and 2 for internal split volumes and 3 and 4 for the volumes of MainStage computer or VST sounds. Pads, strings, organs, and Bass are also fabulous. Splits, layers, transpose are very easy to work on the fly. The layout is very intuitive to use.Internal recording is a good scratch pad for song writing. What the MP7SE doesn't have is 1000 different sounds - no helicopter sound effects here, but it does the essential sounds well and has plenty for most genres.

The acoustic pianos on this keyboard are great. Also the e-pianos. Plenty of options to customise the sound. Good effects as well. And nice connectivity. A+

Sold a great keyboard in the Roland RD2000 for a better keyboard in the Kawai MP7SE. Much better pianos and key feel. Kawai in my opinion is number one in its category.

This is a really great keyboard and I am very happy I bought it.Piano sounds are great as are electric pianos and organs. In fact after a couple of weeks of the MP7SE I played an upright piano which I had previously thought very good and missed some of the qualities of the MP7SE...Layering piano patches gives a quite realistic resonant type sound. This fills the sound out nicely and controlling the levels of each patch gives an extra acoustic parameter along with the built in EQ.I am using two Presonus eris 5 powered speakers which are really small and neat for home use. Sound reproduction is very good and probably powerful enough for performance in a restaurant or a small bar. Good quality headphones will give the best sound for personal use, although I believe ... MoreThis is a really great keyboard and I am very happy I bought it.Piano sounds are great as are electric pianos and organs. Good quality headphones will give the best sound for personal use, although I believe some of the higher end near field studio monitors would be equal. With the money you save on this keyboard over comparable products this could be a good option for some.I had some options when purchasing and was very tempted by the Nord Grand, mostly cause it looks cool and the continuous patches being developed by Nord. The Nord may have the edge on patch availability but it is using the same Kawai key bed action as the MP7SE, doesnt have organ patches and costs over 1K more than the MP7SE, a no brainer really. The Kawai piano sounds brilliant and are endlessly tweakable.I would say the MP7SE is probably the best value stage/slab piano on the market by a long way, It offers everything that other models over 2K euro do and it has a better key action than any of them..Thumbs up !!

NO
4 June 2019

In one and a half months the keybed in this keyboard started to fail and I didn't even play with on a daily basis. If you search online, you'll realize that MP7S and ES8 share the same action and they all suffer from the same issue, which the keyboard triggers the notes you're playing at random. This renders the keyboard useless.Kawai has a good customer service but what's the point if they're not selling a proper product and charge you a premium for it?!

Best action, superb MIDI controlling capabilities and great piano sound. Great to use in studio and an exquisite stage piano.

This Kawai MP7SE keyboard is one of the best kept secrets!
29 June 2021

I use this keyboard for practicing at home. It's too heavy for me to carry to gigs, but it might be fine for someone else. It feels and plays like a real acoustic piano. I was considering the Nord Grand but this has the same Kawai action and is $2,000 cheaper! I have tried so many brands of 88 key keyboards and have always been disappointed with their actions. The minute I started playing this one, I thought WOW! THIS IS IT!! I would recommend this keyboard to anyone who is looking for a 88 key keyboard that plays and feels like a real piano. And the price is right!

Very pleased with the purchase
28 June 2022

I bought it as an upgrade from my old keyboard.so far this is absolute bliss playing songs with it. The sound quality is top notch, super satisfying.I also love how the key responds to the touch. Im no professional, but I find it easier to do arpeggios and quick hand repositioning.Overall Im playing much more often than before, and its everytime a great experience.I had no issue whatsoever so I recommand for the price.

bad job Kawai!
10 September 2018

Bought this keyboard brand new just a month ago. After 3 weeks of lite use one of the keys is acting up, the note gets stuck but not the key itself, you just hear the note hanging there like if you were stepping on the sustain pedal. In the year of 2018, from a company like Kawai this is unacceptable. Will be returning it this week and look for something else.

perfect piano, but not anything else

First good — delicious keyboard. Perfect equivalent of repetition lever mechanism. The pressure on the edge of key is approximately equal to pressure on the "other end", what's not on other piano mechanisms like "hammer action" or awful "weighted keyboard".Keys are not slippery, good cohesion with fingers.Sound is perfect too: there is two layers of sound: the direct sound of strings and "resonance" of all any string, when dampers is up.Damper pedal has two sensors, so it feels how deep you press pedal. You can control the length of sustain, and it's great. I can play classical music without any limitation.Few words about the library of 256 sounds. Hammond and Rhodes is good, I also appreciate strings, lead synth and church organ. Anything else (winds, brass, ... MoreFirst good — delicious keyboard. It's very uncomfortable to use and control effects.
